Dolcissimo flapped once, springing off of Eve's wrist to take her place back around Jada's neck. The girl didn't mind though, and that might be part of what would prevent her from being a perch. The moment that Dolcissimo was laying against Jada again, she started making a gentle, light purring noise. "Lazy little thing." Jada whispered quietly, stroking the green head.

Then she was lifting the little blue in her hand and scowling at him, sending her waves of displeasure through their bond. Scherzo's eyes immediately flared yellow, and even Dolcissimo chirped and raised her head to look worried. Too much? She toned it down, not wanting to lose the little darling. "Too much food." she tried to send images of why she was so angry at him, too. He could overeat and get sick, or die. Plus, taking food without permission was wrong, and naughty!

Scherzo warbled a query, did his person hate him? Was his person angry? He didn't understand! Allegretto caught the gist of what was going on, being smarter than the green, and crooned a reply. No, no, the person didn't hate him! The gold swooped in, landing on Jada's wrist lightly. The Girl's arm sagged, but she managed to keep from dropping either of the lizards, pulling them in closer to her and resting her elbows on her legs. "I think I did it wrong, Eve." Jada admitted, looking nervous. "I sent why I was upset and that I was upset, but..." The blue flit was looking confused, and seemingly growing more alarmed. The gold crooned again, trying to calm him down, because she was receiving the brunt of the Girl's alarmed feelings. And when the blue began to flap his wings, the gold firelizard chirped once, authoritative. And the blue froze, staring up at the two, the gold and his Person. "Do I try this again, now?"

Eve watched as the girl tried, though made no face when she over did things. It was all part of the learning process after all.
"Don't fret so, you'll only confuse him." She said calmly, walking forward and pulling a chair over so that she could sit before the girl. She waved Lin off of her other shoulder so that the little blue wouldn't feel over crowded. She chirped and landed on a chair nearby, keeping a curious blue eye on the proceedings. Even then placed Farran in her lap, he would be useful in this insatance. Having a few turns under his wings, where the others were still practically newly hatched, she had no doubt he could help the little blue understand.
She told him what he wanted, and he perched on the edge of her knees, looking at the new hatched little blue and started chittering and whistling at him, seeming to scold and then reassure by turns. He was unusually dominant for a blue, though Eve just put it down to him being better trained than most firelizards, though even he had his limitations.
No, the little blue's girl didn't hate him, but didn't he know he wasn't to gorge himself? Gorging made humans unhappy, though Farran wasn't entirely sure why, but he wasn't to do it anyways. If you didn't do it, then the little blue's girl would be happy again. And then there were treats if you behaved! treats were always nice...nice and tasty! Thats why the little blue should do what his girl asked. That and it made her happy. Happy girl's were always good too.
Eve watched, the smallest of smiles turning up the corners of her lips in amusement at the sight of the older blue 'talking' to the younger one.
Farran finally seemed to wrap up his lecture with one final, piercing whistle, and flipped his wings to lay neatly along his back, perched quite proudly on his lady's knees. Hadn't he done such a good job? Done just what his lady asked?

Eve couldn't help but smile a little more as her firelizard looked up at her, eyes whirling quickly, and she stroked him, transmitting her happiness with him to him, making him croon with pleasure as she scratched his eye ridges in just the way he liked.
"Don't be afraid to use your queen to help you explain things while you're training." Eve pointed out "You'll find that their mental capacity tends to be greater than other colors, so she'll understand you more clearly, most of the time, and can translate to your others on more complex ideas." she explained, still petting her blue. "Most of the times, though, if you're clear in your thoughts, and patient," she paused to emphasize the patience part "then you'll be able to get what you want across to any color of flit."

Jada pulled back a little bit as Eve approached. Scherzo gave a worried warble, and Jadamirei reached out to stroke his head. The approach of the other blue turned the much smaller head in its direction. And as Farran educated him on what was happening, the yellow faded away from the multifaceted eyes.

But he was hungry! He turned to the Girl and gave her a sad croon. If he was hungry, wasn't he supposed to eat? Eating made him feel good in the belly!

Until, Dolcissimo pointed out, you don't feel good and the Girl has to rub your belly.

Naturally the conversation was in whistles and images, that left Jada feeling confused. But she understood enough to sit back and let the flits explain. "You'd asked about their names." she pulled Scherzo close to her, sending her affection to him as the flits explained to him. "They are named after musical terms. I am a Harper Apprentice. So as I start my new life, I keep memories of the old." Tiny blue eye ridges were scratched affectionately. "Thank you, Journeywoman."

"Hmm, I see." Was all Eve said as the girl explained her flits curious names. Sure were a mouthful, but she assumed Jada had nicknames for them to cut down on that. Hazel eyes remained on the various flits as they chattered at one another like old aunties, making her roll her eyes slightly.
"A harper apprentice at the Weyr..." she mused aloud, idly stroking farran's back as she did so, making him croon quietly "you must be a candidate to be so far from your hall." Eve observed
The journeywoman remembered her desires to be a dragonrider when she was younger, but no rider had ever come to her family's minuscule hold, nor too the beastcraft hall where she had spent her later years when she was too old to impress. She was 24 now, and no dragon would have her at that age. That was just as well though, she had her craft, and of course she had her flits. That was enough for her.
Farran butted his head reassuringly against her hand, making a smile creep out and onto the corners of her lips. From her chair, Lin whistled at her, as though to remind her that she was there too. Eve raised an arm and Lin eagerly launched herself off her chair back and sidled from the raised limb and onto her padded shoulder, fondly stroking her little green head against Eve's cheek as she settled there.

Jadamirei gave a nod to the older woman. "I am a Candidate. I arrived here not long after the last Hatching, so I haven't had the chance to Stand yet. To be honest, I am a little afraid of it." She could have kicked herself a moment later for confessing that sort of thing; an older woman like Eve had little interest in the emotional ups and downs of a 16-turn-old girl.

Behind her eyes lurked uncertainty. Before she had come to the Weyr, she had been focused, knew what she wanted with her life. Journeyman, then MasterSinger. Now what did she have? Four and a half turns of Hatchings where she may or may not be chosen as a dragonrider, four and a half turns of physical labor. Four and a half turns of potentially watching other people ascend to a position she... coveted.

The Harper Apprentice wanted to be a dragonrider. She wanted to know what it felt like to not be afraid to fall. What it felt like to have a connection. The gold flit at her side gave a soft, inquiring whistle at that fluttering train of thought. Was what she had already not a bond? Jada had a bond, three friends who would never leave her side. The dark-haired young woman glanced down at the three miniature creatures next to her and smiled.

The gaze returned to Eve, slightlier steadier now. "Were you ever a Candidate? Or did you know that being a beastcrafter was what you were meant for?" Did you ever ask yourself these questions?

Eve nodded slightly as she listened. She didn't blame the girl for being nervous, not after what she had heard about the last hatching that had occurred here at telgar.
"Your fear is a natural thing." Eve said in her quiet voice, frowning slightly "It is better to accept and face it, than to hide it away to fester."
The older woman looked at the girl and smiled slightly at her, almost as though trying to reassure her. It was something she wasn't very good at, but though she was young, Jada was not bad company. "I had dreams of being a dragonrider when I was young, like anyone else." she mused "Unfortunately, I was from a very small hold, and so search dragons never came. When I went to the beastcraft hall, I was never there when the dragons would come...so I still wonder, sometimes, if I could have been, but..." she shrugged "I am happy with the life I lead now, as a beastcraft journeywoman." She said, smiling a little more as she stroked Lin's little green head, making her first lids close in pleasure. Farran chirped, settling his wings in a satisfied manner as he settled down more comfortably in her lap.
"No matter what happens on the sands, you will always have them." she said, gesturing to the girl's three flits who looked to her so fondly. "When the time comes, just be open and welcoming, like you would with a firelizard hatchling. Don't let your mind be clouded by distressed, worried thoughts. That's all you can really do." She had made something of a study of impression of dragons in order to augment her studies on firelizards. From what she could tell, there was not anything special one could do to attract a dragon, except try and be open so that they would see the real you, not your worry or fear. The rest was up to the hatchling, really.

The Candidate breathed out a soft sigh, allowing the stress she'd been accumulating over the course of the session fade away. "Thank you, Beastcrafter. I know I was late for the class, and I apologize for being an imposition on your free time." She had learned a few things from Eve. Come to terms with a few changes she would have to make in her life.

Learning to be a more dominant personality was one thing. Patience was another. She would need to curb that overeager, overexcited side of her, the part that threw itself into lessons with dangerous abandon. And that even if she failed to Impress, she had a bond that was special beyond compare, and she had the experiences she would gain through living here, as the dragonriders did. Even tossing dragon dung and digging latrines was a lesson learned.

She finally stood from the seat she had rested in, allowing Dolcissimo to remain wrapped around her neck. "Perhaps I can come by and see you again in a sevenday or so? Just to have you look them over again and see if I'm doing everything right with the whole discipline issue?"

Eve nodded her head in recognition to the thanks. "Don't be afraid to come back sooner if you have any questions." the older woman said, shifting farran to her shoulder and rising as well "I'm often here in my office, but if not, your firelizards can always find me too." she pointed out.
She stretched slightly and then said "Remember, consistancy is important when dealing with your flits. Slow and steady when it comes to learning new things."
The journeywoman turned back to her desk, but paused and looked over her shoulder "Also, if I don't see you before the hatching...good luck." she said. Her face was mostly expressionless, but there was a certain light to her eyes that spoke of a hope that she was able to attain her dream. With that, Eve turned her back and the lesson was over.
