Alice in Sunderland Is a great one haha, I live in Newcastle which is the city in England that's right next to Sunderland ( Infact our two football(soccer) teams have quite a feirce reputation of not getting along well XD

I will actualy buy my own copy of that someday, the one at the college library was missing alot of pages D:

Lucky!! I plan on visiting there one day. It's one of my dream vacations, Sunderland (along with Ireland and Japan XD). Oh noes! D= Yes, do buy your own copy soon! It's really wonderful in its entirety (library copies of books are just heart breaking, really, people don't know how to take care of some things, it's honestly quite disgraceful >_<).

Ah, yes, Pandora Hearts is amazing. heart
I have yet to read/see anything else mentioned on the first page, but I'm glad I know about all these other things now. XD
Also, one of my favorite bands, the Birthday Massacre reminds me alot of Alice even though none of their songs really pertain to the books.

I love The Birthday Massacre as well.
Although nothing of them says they pertain directly to it, they do have "Looking Glass" and "Make Believe" lead one to believe they have a light Alice influence.

I'm echoing the love for American McGee's Alice (game) and the SyFi Alice (film). They were really nicely done extensions of the Wonderland universe.

I also enjoyed a little film called 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' with Kate Beckinsale playing Alice. The intro was epic lame, but I adored it for its complete faithfulness to the original text and the nifty costumes. Seriously though; like every line of dialogue was taken directly from the book. It was awesome for a purist like me.

...I was hoping the Burton version would turn out less 'Disney' and more 'The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy', but is not looking good for me. ;_;

Actually, I do have a hard time finding versions that I -do- like. ;_;
Most of them make Hatter and Alice friendly with each other, which is... wrong. Hatter is the anti-Alice. They represent polar opposites of society.

If anyone can reccomend stuff for a fickle purist like me to enjoy, I'd be very happy! :3

Although I do support the Hatter and Alice closeness, courtesy the SyFy one, I support it ONLY IN versions that blatently say it is a TWIST on Alice....just like SyFy said it was a "reimagining."

Burton isn't looking too good for me either....although, I did read something that perked my interest just a little. It was a pre-review and it mentioned how Hatter actually got the name 'Mad' Hatter....(due to the mercury poisoning as a result of the hat making process) which is the explanation Sunderland gives it....after doing a bit of research I've gained more faith in it.

Haven't heard of 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' with Beckinsale. This is actually the first I've known of it. I appreciate your mentioning it. mrgreen Although I will say the truest reincarnatoin I've seen (save the aforementioned, since I've yet to see it) is the 1985 recording of Alice's Adventures IN Wonderland And Through the Looking-Glass....although I don't like the red dress she's given. >_<

I recommend the movie Phoebe in Wonderland. Amazing movie that incorporates a lot of Alice in Wonderland type themes. Here is the IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034325/

Short of it is, a girl named Phoebe, with OCD, grows up loving Alice in Wonderland, her whole family is literally obsessed with this book. Phoebe gets lost in her own wonderland as she tries to cope with her OCD and being different from the other children as well as her sister.

Wow that movie actually really interests me as I have OCD myself.

And I'm a AiW fan of course. ^_^

Will probably download it this weekend!

OCD can be very annoying, especially when I have to go to college.

Ah, I don't often download movies, maybe I can just buy the DVD somewhere. XD

Randomly I have a weird want to write a McGee's Alice walkthrough... unsure why.

Oh, it's terrible living with my mother and sister. Part of the reason Ma agreed to letting me be home schooled is because I'm so OCD, I clean the apartment top to bottom every day. >_> Including dishes, vacuuming, AND the bathrooms!! T.T I can hardly stand it. And it's an EVERY DAY thing...which is the sad part.

McGee's is great. I've played through it so many times! Haha. My dad and I have had it since the second month it came out - saw it on sale at a local Best Buy going out of business. X3 I used to remember the entire rant thing the Red Queen did towards the end. x.x

I'm always having to make sure things are in the right order, otherwise I worry and won't be happy till they're in the order that isn't worrying to me. And this can go on for a while too.

I pretty much remember the Jabberwock's speech, oh and the Hatter's... XD

OH!
Also, all of the NUMEROUS Alice references in LOST.
x.x
Can't believe I haven't mentioned those, yet.

Oh yes, LOST! I love that series. XD Though I haven't watched the 5th season completely yet, and now the 6th has started... >_>
PostPosted: Sat Feb 06, 2010 1:53 am

To be honest, some of the references (like the episode titles....which they don't show >_> ) were so subtle I'm ashamed to say I didn't notice a good few of them....no to mention Dad had me watching them at like 2 am on a Friday night when I'd already been awake since 6 am -_- SO I was drifting off while we did....

You should hurry! I watched like the first five minutes today when I was at a friend's and I'm gonna watch the full season premier tomorrow!

Anyways, back on topic....>_>
So I just finished Pandora Hearts (the anime! XD)
I'm gonna continue reading the manga til they run up
T.T
And I don't think there's any new "Are You Alice?" manga chapters on OneManga yet

Has anyone read that one?
I know most everyone here's looked into Pandora Hearts, but "Are You Alice?" is fairly newer...

I know, I know! But I have a lot to watch I think, I missed at least half of the 5th season. o.o

Actually I've read "Are you Alice?" It confused me at first. XD
