Kallista was silent for a few moments. She considered the question that she occasionally in her darkest moments asked herself. Her eyes stayed on Aster who was her entire life now. Finally, she spoke with a smile on her lips. "I regret not saying goodbye before we left to my blood family. I wonder what my brothers and my father are doing. But as for leaving Ista, you and I think alike. As long as Asterteth is underneath me and we are flying strong, any place can be home."
Do we hunt fish or go look for larger game. Aster asked her sister, ignoring the jab about watching what she ate. Instead, she flicked her tongue out, something she had seen Kallista do to others. At least when I eat, I can work the weight off.
Completely forgotten was the gossip about the gold.

<> Haath reasoned. She looked thoughtful and confused, a very peculiar and different face for Haath, when Astar stuck her tongue out. What was that? What did that mean? Was it an insult? Did Astarteth honestly think she could get away with that? Haath stuck her own tongue out, just to try it. It felt silly. Was it supposed to be silly? She wasn't sure. This was all too confusing for her.
Indeed, Haath had completely forgotten about her gossip by now. Bickering with her sister took all precedence over gossip. She might share if she remembered later...or not. Haath was, by reputation, a fickle creature.
Hm. Family. Interesting topic. T'ka didn't like to talk about her family. Perhaps Kallista did though? "What's your family like, if you don't mind me asking?" T'ka questioned, curiously. It was warm out. It was nice. She lay back, folding her arms beneath her head in a make-shift pillow, and closed her eyes, content with the world. Well, mostly, anyway. Mostly...

More likely that you would sink and the shipfish would have to rescue you. Astarteth replied. She blinked as Haath stuck her tongue back out. Hers must have taught her. Nevermind the fact that they both looked silly with their tongues out. Stretching, Astar turned to her rider. We are going to hunt. I will hunt. Haath will just make a bunch of noise and scare everything.
This was said for everyone to hear.
Settling with her head on her knees, Kallista thought back. She just vaguely remembered her Mother who had been gone for Six long turns. And her Father, the StationMaster. Her brothers. "We were close, I guess. Two older brothers and a younger one. Runners, all of us. You could tell we were family, especially Nejeran and I. After my Mother died, my Father threw himself into running the station. A couple Turns later I came to Ista and Impressed. Not very elaborate, huh?"
She nodded to Astarteth as the green addressed her. The day was theirs to do as they pleased, whether it be lazily or to complete a task. Hazel eyes looked without actually seeing as she continued on. "I never said thank you for coming with me. I don't think I could have left without you. Thank you. Someday, I will find a way to repay you."

Haath snickered in that obnoxious dragon fashion, and with a quick twist of her neck, casually headbutted Astar on the shoulder. <> Haath took a few running steps down the beach, to put some distance between herself and the humans, so that when she took off she wouldn't spray them with sand. See! Angry Haath could also be Polite Haath...when she felt like it. She leapt into the air, beat her wings a few times and surged foward, barely clearing the tree line so she could feel the tickle of leaves on her belly. Haath missed the tropical trees.
"I imagine running was interesting. Certainly you get to see a lot, maybe meet interesting people?" To be honest, T'ka wasn't really sure. She was a smith through and through, and it was hard for her to truly comprehend doing anything else. The knowledge that Kallista's mother had died, however...that was new. Perhaps she and Kallista could relate on that level. Or not. T'ka had never known her mother, but Kallista had her mother taken away...the former smith couldn't decide which was worse.
Oh. Oh now that was a little awkward. In T'ka's mind, she'd done nothing noteworthy, nothing worthy of thanks. Haath notwithstanding T'ka fancied Kallista as her best friend. And friendship, as she knew it, was a beautiful and rare thing. All the treasures of Ista couldn't replace the sadness she and Haath would have endured without Kallista and Astarteth to brighten things.
"It was nothing," T'ka dismissed. "You don't need to thank or repay me. Besides, who would have entertained Haath if we hadn't come along?" T'ka joked, trying to change the subject matter. "Besides, don't tell Astarteth this, or Haath might pitch a fit, but I think Astar's a great baby, or should I say Haath-sitter. I don't have to worry about watching after my wher-green when Astar's around. It's fantastic!" T'ka laughed in a whisper.
Right on que, T'ka picked up on what Astar had broadcasted, about Haath scaring everything, and had to stiffle a fit of quiet giggles. Oh, she didn't care what anyone else said. Greens were the best. Period.
