Nyota knew when she asked that he couldn't really prove it to her, she could only trust what he said or not. He presented an interesting challenge, though she knew it was an impossible one. But Hala didn't know it was impossible. And now she had two options, she could walk away-- pretend she would do just as he said and leave now.. or she could try to get more information. But there wasn't any good, obvious way to get it now that she had pretended that he was here somewhere.
"Fine," she said, decidedly accepting his challenge and then moving to walk away. She knew something now, at least. It would be reason enough to ask her mother some questions.

He bristled at her response and watched, somewhat helplessly, as she began to walk away. He knew this was dangerously close to pridelands and he knew that he couldn't force her to tell him anything she didn't want to - especially if she knew help would arrive the moment she called for help.
Besides, he suddenly realised that if he did anything to hurt or scare her, he might never get to his brother.
Growling with frustration he watched her go, breaking the silence at the last moment. "Very well! Leave! But I won't be going anywhere. You tell him that. You tell Altair that he'll have to face what he's done!!" And Hala wouldn't go. He'd lurk here for as long as it took.
