I like to think that a lot of covens start with good intentions, but they just get sidetracked. And I also like to believe that there are good covens out there, that it's just the ones who want people to conform to their viewpoints tend to be loudest and the most aggressive in recruiting and so they get noticed the most.

you know, you could invite him to the guild so we can argue with him all day..... The one you speak of would cause me to break my monitor in hopes of it getting him.

I am solitary. I don't plan on changing that. I'm a very independant and solitary persone in general, and I am perfectly fine keeping it this way. If you want to be in a coven, then there should be nothing to stop you from finding one, this is just me. smile

A question for those who do say that you MUST be initiated...who initiated the FIRST witch? That's what makes me wonder if it really IS necessary!
I feel that no deity will turn you away for not being in a coven. I feel it's just more special to worship the Gods alone. But that's just me! smile

It appears we could build a Wiccan coven of Wiccans who feel you don't need to be in a coven to be a Wiccan.

I'm not a Wiccan, but I have friends who are. Some are in a coven and some practice solo, preferring the privacy and the ability to concentrate.
From an outside perspective I think it's ridiculous to think that you have to be part of something to be considered a part of what you practice. I'm a Christian but I don't go to church because I don't like to. It would be like saying I'm not Christian because I don't belong to a church. It preposterous.

The way I see it, if initiated, third degree Gardnerian Raymond Buckland can write a book about being a solitaire, who am I to argue. That is good enough for me.
