Kai immediately walked into the house, greeting the guards at the door as they waved to him. He then made his way back to the room where he had slept the night before, layed down on his mat and began reading the book on Naruto Uzumaki. He read into the wee hours of the night, until finally he fell asleep."I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

Kai woke up the next morning, drool running down his cheek. He looked around as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Seeing that LT was no longer there, Kai rose to his feet and got dressed. After eating a light breakfast and saying goodbye to the Demascus family, Kai made his way into town, excited to finally take the genin exam. He would not fail. He would make his parents proud of him, even if they weren't there to see it in person."I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me" [exit to mist village gates]

Fordon and Mai arrived at the Demascus lodge after their long walk. "i am Fordon Cordell and this is Mai Ushio. im here to talk to someone about commissioning a the forging of a set of weapons. where should we go for that?" Fordon asked politely knowing how much the Demascus family valued respect.

The two guards who were clad in armor looked Fordon up and down.  "You may proceed Sir." replied one of the guards, Master Demascus and his brother are in the forge. (you can post as old-man's brother, because Sares Demascus is busy some where else)

"Thank you" Fordon said and headed in to the compound. he went straight towards the forge. the pounding a clanking of hammers increased the closer one got. when Fordon walked in he could feel the difference in heat. "its hot in here." Mai said fanning herself "which is good for making high quality steel" "and some the best chakra metal weapons in the world." Fordon replied. Fordon then walked over to the man who seemed to be in charge "how can i help you sir?" the man asked as Fordon approached"i need to commission a set of weapons" Fordon said. "well then i am the one you wish to talk to. i am Tarus Demascus" "i am Fordon Cordell. LT-sempai said i should come here and speak to you." "did he now?" "yes and this is for you" Fordon said handing Tarus the still hot cup of coffee. Tarus took a sip and said "mmmmm yep this is defiantly his brew. so what can i do for yeah?" the man asked obviously pleased. Fordon pulled the designs and dementions out of his cloak and unfolded it. "I would like this and all out of the same chakra metal as this." Fordon said pulling out the bag with his shattered swords in it. Tarus took a look insided and picked up a shard and inspected it. "Ahhh this type. hmmm. looks like this one was not one of our better works. Probably one of our apprentice's jobs. hmmm that and you put it under a lot of stress. and it looks like it took quite a bit of Voltage at the end." "yes your right that is the case" Fordon admitted. "alright then so you want use to use the metal from this in the making of your new swords?" "yes if that helps out the cost. speaking of which how much will i be paying?" Tarus thought for a moment then did a fw tallies on a sheet of paper "well i think i can have it done for this much" he finally said showing Fordon. under his masked Fordon smiled he had not expected it to be that low. "well i think thats good price for me." Fordon said and pulled out a pack of money. he counted out the amount and handed it to Tarus who counted it again. "ok then. well this will probably take 3 weeks" Tarus said writing it down on the note then handing it to Fordon who took it and said "ok ill be back around that time. Thank you sir" Fordon gave a short bow and left walking out into the cool air. Mai was right beside him. "that was interesting. ive never seen a weapon set like that one before" she said "Thats because i came up with the idea for it and how to use it on my own." Fordon replied as they left the lodge behind and retraced their steps toward the village.

Yamatano came to a skidding halt as he found a somewhat large house with smoke coming from it. At first Yamatano wanted to yell "fire!" but as he took time to asses the situation, he could hear the clang of hammers, and the smell of iron was heavy in the air. His suspicions were only confirmed when he saw a young apprentice carrying a red hot piece of metal with a set of tongs. This was a blacksmith. Looking at the sign, Yamatano saw "Demascus Smiths" outside the gate. They seemed to be rooted here in the village, and looked like weapon suppliers. As long as they were supplying to mist, Yamatano had no concerns, and decided to move along, the clone of the hunter nin struggling to keep up.

The hunter-nin arrived, Kai draped over his shoulder just fifteen short minutes after leaving the ruined village. Walking up to the two guards the hunter-nin shrugged Kai off of his shoulder for them to see him. The guards immediatelz recognized Kai, having met him before, and in fact had been awaiting his arrival, though not in the condition he had been brought to them. As they looked up the hunter-nin had already dissapeared, leaving them to decide what to do with the unconcious child. Shrugging to eachother one of the guards picked Kai up and brought him into the house where he could recover.
After several hours Kaizen awoke to find himself staring up at a finely crafted ink painting that covered the cieling of the room he was in. It appeared to be a clan crest, and Kai was certain he recognized it, though he couldn't put a name to it. Sitting up after a moment Kai rubbed at his eyes as he tried to remember how he had gotten here. He could remember the village and how he had been attacked, and for some reason he could remember a great black wolf... or was it silver? Shaking his head Kai opened his eyes only to find another pair of eyes staring right at him. Jumping up slightly Kai tripped up in the tangle of blankets he found himself in.
The man that had been looking at him let out a bellowing laugh, a sound that rang from the depths of his barrel like chest. As Kai looked the man over he could see that he was an elderly man, and yet he looked to be in better physical condition than most people half his age with arms as big around as Kai's head. The man looked down at Kaizen, a twinkle in his eye and a smile spread across his leathery face. "Come now lad, you look like you've seen a ghost, I know I'm old, but I'm far from dead" , the elderly man said reassurinlgy, bringing on another bellowing laugh.
Rising to his feet, Kai did his best to regain his composure as he bowed to the man and said, "Sorry sir, you simply caught me by surprise, I suppose I have you to thank for saving my life."The man looked at the boy curiously before saying, "It was not I that saved you, you were brought here, unconcious, I simply gave you a place to lay down until you came to." Kai looked up at the man puzzled as he tried to recall once more what had happened in the village, but before he had a chance to reply the elderly man waved his hand and said, "Before you ask anything else, let me introduce myself, for I have a question for you. My name is Sares Demascus, the head of the Demascus Clan and the father of your Sensei, LT... well adoptive father technically, but he's no less important to me than any of me other boys."Kai bowed deeply before saying calmly, "it is a pleasure to finally meet you sir, and thank you for allowing me to rest in your home, yet again. My name is-""Oh I know who you are lad", Sares interrupted, " LT and I have talked about you on several occasions, which brings me to my question. As I said LT and I have been talking about you, and... well, I knew your father, a fine swordsman he was, I made many a fine blade for the man." Kai simply nodded his head in thanks, glad to hear praise for his father, though the memory of him was still a slightly painful. "Anyway, LT and I have been talking, and I know that you've been on your own for a while now, and, well-" But before old Sares Demascus could finish his statement, an Anbu agent from Mist arrived in a swirl of mist right before Kai, a scroll held out before him. Kai took the scroll after the Anbu member motioned for him to do so, and then in a swirl of mist the Anbu member was gone, leaving just Kai and old Sares in the room once more.
Kai opened the scroll and quickly scanned through it, once, twice, and then a third time, his eyes growing wider every time. Looking up at Sares, Kai was beaming as he said excitedly "I've been invited to participate in the Chuunin Exams! I, I... I have to go, I'm sorry sir, but I'll have to continue this conversation with you another time!" And with that Kai was off, sprinting through the house and past the two guards, but as he was running towards the gate of the compound he heard a call from behind him. "Before you run off, I think you'll want these!", called out the voice of old Sares Demascus. Turning around, Kai was just in time to see a long cloth bag flying towards him. Lifting a hand, Kaizen caught the blade and smiled as he continued on, calling out behind him, "Thank you Sir!""I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me" [exit to Mist Docks]

Kai walked up to the gate of House Demascus, a broad smile spread across his face as he walked through towards the main compound. Not surprisingly, the two guards that were usually guarding the door were at there post, both of them wearing a rather bored expression. Waving over at them Kai called out, "hello there, long time no see guys! Did I miss anything?" At the sight of Kai both of the guards faces broke into smiles, clearly glad for a change of pace. As Kai reached the two of them, one of the guards reached down and ruffled Kai's hair playfully as he said, "nothing in particular, but hey what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the exams? Don't tell me you failed!"Beaming up at the two guards, Kai said casually, "No way, I'm in it to win it. In fact I'm actually here because of the exams." Looking over his shoulder, Kai motioned for Shayera and Taiji to come forward, before looking back to the guards and saying, "I've been paired up with these two for the second stage, and I was hoping to speak with Lord Sares, though as late as it is, it would probably be best if we got some rest. So would it be alright if these two accompanied me to my room?"
Looking between each other the guards shrugged before the one that had been talking before said, "I suppose it won't be a problem, though I'll have to escort you all. Sorry but that's the standard procedure when foreign shinobi visit uninvited." Still smiling, Kai nodded his head and then followed after the guard as he led him and his team through House Demascus, which was more like a compound than a simple house, but still. Finally reaching the small room that the Demascus family had given him, Kai walked right in and took a seat on one of the large plush pillows that surrounded a small wood heater which also acted as a grill.
Waving his arm around the room, Kai said with a smile, "Welcome to my humble abode." The circular room was lined with row after row of bookshelves, all completely filled with everything from manuscripts to ancient scrolls. Light was let in through a series of circular windows in the ceiling, which was a beautifully crafted wood mosaic depicting the God of the forge, Ho-Masubi, hard at work.

Shayera stares at the guards as she follows Kaizen into his home. The escort thing is understood, and she wonders idly if they’re supposed to do that in the Nara compound. Her mouth falls open as she, Kai, and Taiji enter Kai’s room and Kai flops down onto a pillow. She walks over to a bookshelf without putting her things down, and runs her hand gently over the spines of the books.
“Oh, Kai. Wow.” She whispers. There isn’t really a reason to whisper, but she feels like she should. Her fingers go slack and Kyodai, her giant fan, hits the floor with a loud thump. “If we had a library like this in Suna, you could be sure I’d be a stronger kunoichi than I am now.” She murmurs, turning her attention to the mosaic before she notices that her fan has dropped to the floor. She picks Kyodai up and sets her things down, neatly organizing them, before returning to the bookshelf. “Why are we here, again? Remind me that we’re here to get something before I decide that I don’t want to leave.” She says idly to Kaizen, gesturing at him with her gaze still riveted on the bookshelf.

Some deep, and others shallow, but the leced his torso. They were old as far as eyes could tell, maybe panning back several years. "I'm sure you're as strong of a ninja as anyone else here."

Kai chuckled lightly at Shayera's comments before saying, "Taiji's right, you're very strong, strong enough to make it this far, and that's something right? As to the reason we're here, we actually do need to acquire an artifact, but that will have to wait till tomorrow, for now let's get some sleep." With that, Kai moved over to what looked like a large wardrobe and opened it up, pulling out three fuutons for him and his companions to sleep on.Once he had gotten situated, Kai layed himself down onto his fuuton and almost immediately passed out.
The next morning the team was woken up to the sound of someone knocking on the door. Waking up, Kaizen groggily answered it to find himself facing a huge plate of food with everything from sasauge and biscuits to delicious fresh cut fruit (I know it's not a traditional japanese breakfast, but after seeing what a traditional japanese breakfast consisted of, I thought this would be better). Thanking the serving girl that had brought them their meal, Kai brought it to the center of the room and set the large platter on top of the grill, using it as a make shift table. As Kai enjoyed his breakfast with his companions, a couple pieces of bacon, some grits, and some fresh cantaloupe slices, he pulled out the scroll of clues and read the one he believed was describing House Demascus out loud.Go to the land where the foundation of life is aplenty,
and where there is a house that is always whet.
Talk to a person skilled in his craft, and ask,
"May I have that which makes dodging a thing of the past?"Looking up at his companions, Kai smiled as he said calmly, "Obviously I believe that the clue refers to this place as the location of the artifact, which is the main reason why we're here. From what I can gather we need to talk to old Sares Demascus, the head of the Demascus clan and quite possibly the world's greatest smith. The line that refers to something which "makes dodging a thing of the past", I believe refers to a shield, since it provides an excellent defense without the need to dodge." Having said his face, Kai began to nibble at the meal once more as he waited to hear what his companions had to say about the clue."I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

((Don't worry about it. I had work yesterday anyways. I wasn't on as much either. Also, sorry about the ridiculously long post below. I get a little carried away when I really concentrate. ^^))
Shayera sleeps fitfully, tossing and turning in the midst of another nightmare, until a knock awakens her. She sits and meditates in a corner for a while, careful to sit away from her teammates to discourage any wandering eyes, not even remembering falling asleep until the nightmare had ensued. Her mind replays the attack over and over, and she watches in horror as Kai’s sword aims to pierce Tanzu’s heart again and again. Shutting the images out of her mind, Shayera pulls a piece of paper from her bag and begins to write a letter. The letter she’s been planning for a while. The last letter, the one that goes to everyone she cares about. Kanzuki, Matsuya, Lady Koizumi, Sora, Kaizen, Taiji, Kira, even Yamatano, despite their earlier disagreement. To Whom It May Concern, the letter begins. She’s quiet, listening to Kaizen speaking, and nodding in agreement with his words before laughing once, with only cold, dark humor.
“If I had been strong, I wouldn’t have had to merely sit by and watch as my teammate was nearly killed at the hands of another shinobi. I would have been able to control him, to protect him. I should have gone home before this stage started. I shouldn’t have stayed.” She mutters, speaking her thoughts aloud without much thought to what it is she’s saying. She turns her attention to the artifact that they’re pursuing. “Whet. Isn’t that a stone used to sharpen knives or swords or something? I still say that Earth is the foundation of life, but water could be it, too. And we are in the land of Water, so yes. I believe we’re in the right place. I’m not really sure about exactly what it is that we’re looking for, but a shield does make sense, as it were. I’m not exactly skilled in weaponry, so I can’t render a particular judgment.” She murmurs thoughtfully as her pen flies across her paper, turning thoughts and actions into words and explanations. She sighs before writing the line of departure. My heart will be with all of you until we meet again in the next world. Be strong. Stronger than I ever was. All of my love to you, Shayera Nara. She pulls out one last sheet of paper and begins a different letter. One that could only be called a love letter, a letter of confession, that she addresses to Kanzuki. My dear Kanzuki, she begins again with a sigh, a prickling sensation in the corner of her eyes telling her that tears will come.

Kai lifted an eyebrow in confusion at Shayera's obvious preoccupation, but he decided not to press it, if it was something she wanted to talk about, Shayera would talk about it. Rising to his feet, Kai moved towards the door and stepped outside to talk to the guard standing watch by his door. "Excuse me, but may we please see Sares-San? It's important.""I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me" (possible artifact recovery sequence initiated, wasn't sure how much you wanted me to control so I will no longer play any Demascus NPCs until after the potential artifact is recovered)
