Delusion missed the wolfs crestfallen look as she was looking off into the forest and pondering which pathways and places to show him, had she seen it she might have worried for a moment - might have redoubled her efforts to win him over, rethought her plans not to push him to hard right at the beginning. But as she hadn't, the wolfess was quite satisfied with where she had him. To her way of thinking she was well on the way to making him into a good devoted follower. A follower of her...not the cat he was always so worried about pleasing.

She wagged her tail slightly to show her approval when he trotted after her, promising not to tell - see? she had him juuuust where she wanted him. No one could resist her royal charms, no one. "I think you'll like it here" she called back to him "For the home of a common pack its actually quite nice...clean water and dry dens, lots of game for the hunters to nab" she continued as they trotted along "I'll take you to the big pond first" She told him over her shoulder "it's one of my favorite places, What type of places do you like Domo?" She asked him in a tone which suggested she really was interested - and she was...to a point. The more she knew about him the more she would have to work with right?

Oo, was this a game of 20 Questions? He liked that game because his mom had liked playing it with him and his brothers and sisters. It was fun to learn all sorts of things about wolves you wouldn't have known previously! Of course, Domo didn't think that asking the princess about her personal life would be a good idea. There was that whole "keep it professional" code he had to adhere to, and how bad it would it be to make Delusion give him a glare and command him not to be so nosy? After all, asking questions were for interrogators, not mere body guards.

He padded up, eager to listen once more as she spoke of the pack's general geography. It sounded at least well-kept and safe, which was more than he could ask of any den at this point; sleeping with a roof over his head had been fantastic! And clean water, oh sweet mercy . . . "Anyplace that has shade and food, m'lady," Domovoi replied happily. "Mom always complimented me about being easy to please. But . . . I think I need to bathe." He took one sniff of himself and made a face, first of disgust, then of embarassment as he shied a few steps away from the of course prim-kept royal wolf. "I hate smelly like dirt and carrion. F-Forgive me, m'lady, but where is the river?"

Delusions ears twitched slightly as the other olf spoke - shade and water? It seemed like such a common desire, Delu was far more picky when placing places in her 'favorite spots' mental file, and she dreamed of not only a den to sleep in but one filed with wonderful soft pelts to sleep on. But that was the difference she told herself between royal wolves and common wolves. Common beasts were happy with the mundane - and sometimes Delu even envied that of them, being able to be happy with so little was certainly a commendable trait and she cast a warm look to Domo. It would just make things that much easier if her were indeed so easy to please.

That warm look however slowly faded as he spoke again - now that he mentioned it there was a bit of an odor wafting from the dark wolf, and it wasn't a pleasant one. Ugh...she nearly wrinkled her nose in disgust...but managed a wry smile instead, can't be hurting Domo's feeling's when she as doing so well making him like her now could she? She slowed slightly - they had been on the way to the pond...but she definitely didn't want him bathing in her pond. That would be gross, only clean wolves could swim there...or it would be tainted.

Thinking quickly Delu swerved off the path and bounded into the forest "This way!" She called back to Domo, leading him a merry path through the trees towards the sound of running water not far off.

She ought to smile more, Domo thought with a cheesy little grin. It probably would only take a that glimmer to set all of her soldiers off to battle in a heartbeat. What a sight that would be, to watch multitudes of all sorts of colros and sizes flock over to the royal family one day, when they are restored to their former power and glory. What celebration! And he would be able to stay at Delusion's side personally, taking in the pomp and circumstance from a distance as the super cool and silent body guard that no-one messed with. Plus he was bigger, stronger, and had a glossy pelt from his well-treated life.

Domovoi of course knew innately that most of that would not come true, at least that which concerned him. But he allowed himself the risk of dreaming for just a few seconds as he padded after Delusion - except she was bouding away! With a slight yelp, her bodyguard hastened his steps, calling after her. "W-Wait up! I don't want to lose you in here!" Oh God, what if he got lost?! Thankfully Delusion had a pelt that stuck out against the forest, and Domovoi was particularly light on his paws, so he managed not to stray too far away from her as they ran, every once in a while stumbling with a whine. "M'lady, please!"

Delu didn't seem to notice Domo's worries as she ran through the woods - but then this was where she had grown up and she was comfortable here, well that and she enjoyed a good run now and again. Besides Domo seemed to be keeping up pretty well despite his protests and hen they burst from the trees she gave him a smug look as she skid to a stop on the riverbank, coming to a sliding stop mere inches from the waters edge and flagged her tail. "You asked for the river!" She chirped at him teasingly. "I wouldn't have let you get lost silly!"

For his speed, however, Domovoi did not take into account for some reason his momentum. maybe it was easy to forget silly things like that when he was busy making sure she didn't get too far from him. So of course poor Domovoi found himself skidding too late to stop a collision from happening, unless . . . well, this was a spectacular example of reaction over thought, for inches away from hitting her, Domo somehow found the energy to leap from the ground instead of using his paws to force a stop. His painted figure sailed barely over Delusion's body, paws and the tips of his tail clipping her in passing - "Oh God, forgive me, m'lady, I didn't me-" - before landing in the water with a loud splash.

Seconds later the omega bobbed to the surface, tongue lolling as he cooled off in the water - thankfully it wasn't too deep and he could find purchase on the muddy bottom. He blinked water from his mouth, looking over her worriedly. "Sorry, sorry, sorry! I sh-should've watched where I was going, and I shouldn't have been going so fast, and I should've been with you in the beginning, s-so sorry! And, um, thanks for finding the river for me! It's nice and cool." He snorted water out of his nose.

The purple female wold certainly hadn't expected Domo to nearly run into her and her smug look turned to shock as he threw himself into the air, wind whistling and his paws and tail ruffling through her fur as he passed. Holy deer carcass! Delu thought to herself, flattening to the ground out of instinct since it was clearly to late to do any good avoidance wise, her ear swiveling as she skittered backwards a few steps to avoid getting splashed by the water.

Once she had done so however Delusion seemed to realize that flattening oneself to the ground in shock was not a very royal like behavior and instantly straightened herself back up again, clearing her throat and sitting primly on the riverbank with her tail curling about her paws. "Yes well, perhaps I should have warned you" She finally replied as she watched him bob about in the water. "You did say you wanted a bath" She commented after a few moments of silence, hoping that he would forget about her skittish peasant like reaction to his leap. Royal wolves should be braver then that!

Bobbing like a ruffled duck, he looked so clumsy compared to her, Domo thought. How quickly she got over the shockof their almost-crash! Maybe that was something they taught you in royalty - like it was a class of its own that needed lessons, just as hunting did. He gave a sheepish grin at her words. "Right, I did . . . I-It feels nice, m'lady, you should dip in." Domovoi sank until the water covered his lower half completely, the surface tickling just beneath his nose as he leisurely swam about, heart still pounding from escaping by the skin of his teeth. For all his seeming meekness and weakness, the omega swam with somewhat powerful strokes, tail acting as a rudder as he made figure eights in the river's belly, sometimes emmersing himself completely but mostly just coasting about like a strange painted fish. It couldn't go unnoticed that he was definitely enjoying himself despite the lingering embarassment.

Eventually Domovoi forced himself back to the shore, making sure he shook himself dry a safe distance away so as not to wet the princess, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he smiled. The quick dip had wakened him fully if there had been any doubt of it before, and now that he was clean Domo was very contented. "Sorry for the detour, m'lady, and thank you for leading me to the river. So, um, what's next?"

Delusion arched a brow slightly as he invited her to join in his swimming, casting a quick look down at herself - as he implying she was dirty? Has some stray leaf litter managed to work itself into her fur during her run. After a quick examination Delu saw nothing out of sorts on her person except a few spots of ruffled fur which she quickly put to rights with a few fastidious licks. "I think I'll pass" he told the bobbing wolf, knowing full well that when he emerged from the water his fur would be all wet and raggedy looking till it dried. That was certainly not the image she wished to portray - Delu never went out in public with her fur wet and messy looking. No she made sure to take care of such things in private...when she had time to dry off before being seen.

"It's fine" She told the wolf as he - politely - shook off where he wouldn't get her wet, her brow furrowing as she thought of a possible destination. "Well I suppose we can follow the river to the pond..there's a meadow around the other side where lots of rabbits like to stay" She mused, his hint at having a good meal for once earlier coming back to mind. Perhaps he was hungry? Delu certainly needed a strong weapon to fight against the unmentionable evil, she couldn't have him wasting away on her because the stupid cat never fed him.

"Oooooooo, rabbits!" Those were always fun to chase, even if you couldn't catch them! Well, at least, they used to be before Lemon Lime popped into the picture; and even then, the rabbits had only been his excuse to escape his family's critical eye . . . Wait, why was he happy about going after them in the first place if the bunnies only reminded him of what once was (and a not so whistle clean "once was" at that)? The prospect of proving himself again in the lady's eyes perhaps? And maybe experiencing for a moment the joy of hunting again.

"Sounds like fun, m'lady," Domovoi replied with a smile. "Are they the plump kinds? I like the plump kinds because their fur is softer and they squish if you poke them. And they're easier to catch, so the poor things don't have to suffer for too long in fear."

"Of course they are the plump kinds" Delu answered with confidence in her voice - truthfully she had no clue if they were or not, she'd never really hunted rabbits in enough different places to know, but she was relatively sure they would be. If these plump rabbits were so much better then surely her family wouldn't have settled in a place where lesser rabbits resided. They were royalty after all and deserved nothing but the best, which included the best types of prey.

It was rather nice she thought that he worried about the rabbits suffering, it as important when you were involved in royal affairs not to seem outwardly cruel - less you anger the commons wolves and send them into some sort of revolt - and if Domo was to be her weapon she rather he be portrayed as a brave knight then a vicious executioner. It would rally the people behind her rather then drive them away and Delu did not wish to live life as a hated queen..no she wished to rule loved. Of course, looking at Domo they might have to work a bit on the 'brave' look. Well that could come later she told herself...once she'd turned his loyalties from the cat to her. "Well then, best be on the way" She told him briskly motioning with her muzzle in the proper direction.

"Yay, plump rabbits!" exclaimed the princess's servant with several wags of his tail, flinging droplets of stubborn water. There would be a great feast tonight after they hunted, and surely her family would be most pleased with his efforts - not even Lemon Lime could complain that he was a coward if he hunted enough rabbits for them all to eat! And then Domo remembered Lime specifically, how dour she had been lately even after being accepted into the pack, and his good mood faltered. And when that occured, soon doubts returned to him.

What had he been doing, acting so immature and puppy-like around royalty he was supposed to be impressing? Worse, not even waking early enough to start attending to Delusion and smelling terrible! Domovoi docked his ears with guilt rising into his chest; gods, he was an idiot without Lemon Lime looking out for him! And he was an adult to boot! Delusion was just being patient with him, bless her heart, letting his own needs be attended to before getting to the main task at hand.

In silent apology he nodded his head, became quiet and subservient once more, and followed after the princess, hoping that his display in just one morning had not ruined their chances of survival here.

As she lead DOmo along the water bordered pathway Delu had to wonder what it was that had brought bout is sudden change in temperament - she had thought she was doing quite well in inning him over - he'd progressively seemed to lighten up a little as they had gone along - but now he was back to his being quiet. Delu sighed slightly - this was going to take some time she deduced...not that she minded really. She was no where near ready to go out and confront the being who had brought her family down. Not quite yet.
