Feeling the body under him cooling, Rasuli decided it might be a good idea to cram in just a bit more. You could never be too full he figured. Creeping back to the wound, he licked at if for a moment before tearing off a good-sized piece which he could chew on happily for a while.
While he gnawed the bit inbetween his jaws he thought on what she said. "Yeah. Don't have to really like them but you wanna know if they'll back you up. If you can't trust your pack... who can you trust?" He paused to lick his muzzle, the meat dropped between his paws.
Her next comment about lion cubs made him look up. "Cubs? What are they doing here? They wanna be eaten or something?" It showed quite obviously on his face that he was proud of her compliment, that he could kill a lion cub easily. "I sure could!" He growled and mimiced doing so be sinking his teeth hard into his piece of meat and giving it a shake.

Mafa's eyes traveled back to the pup as he crammed in more meat. She couldn't eat another bite, she was stuffed already. Her stomach had shrunk due to the lack of food she usually had so now, it took a lot less to fill her up. The female licked her chops thoughtfully and nodded at Rasuli's comment. He was smart for his age, she'd have to keep her eye on him. Shrugging at what he said next, Mafa looked away from him and back out to the graveyard,
"Don't know, I suppose they do, they're such easy targets"
Mafa glared out into space, just thinking about those horrid little lion brats, and even the older ones too. One aqua eye twitched a little in agitation, but a growl behind her snapped her out of her in coming rage. She gave the pup an assuring nod, he was going to fit in just great.

Having sufficiently 'killed' his pretend cub, Rasuli finished it off by tearing it into small enough chunks and snapping them up. But towards the last one he grew slower, finding himself really very full. Well that would keep his body satisfied for a while now.
But he couldn't remember being so full of food, at least not since he had been alone, and it made him feel rather heavy and kinda sleepy. Maybe he'd eaten just a bit too much, he wondered and figured it was probably best to lay down and digest it. With a large yawn he flopped down on his side, rubbing his head against the rough skin of the dead elephant to get rid of an itch. "Ahhh.... that's better." He murmered and then turned his eyes to look at Mafa. "Heh heh sounds like fun!" He answered with a cruel grin but then yawned again. He wouldn't be able to guard much right now, his eyes were getting droopy.

Mafa watched the pup as he gorged himself with the meat, she had learned not to over eat, but she couldn't blame him. Food was hard to come by in there parts, it was more than tempting to try and eat the whole kill before anything else got its paws on it.
Then again, this wasn't exatly the best place for a nap. With a huff, Mafa walked to the cub and nudged him roughly in the side with a paw. She gazed the at the sleepy pup with expressionless eyes,
"Get up, this isn't a safe place for kids to sleep, the others will smell the blood soon. We'll go to the skulls"
The female stood beside Rasuli for another second before hopping down from the mass that was the elephant and landing on the dusty ground with a thump. As a cloud of grey rose up around her, she turned to look up at the pup, to make sure he was following.

His slowly closing eyes were jerked wide open again as a paw proded him firmly in the side. He nearly forgot himself for a moment and a small growl was almost out his throat before he turned it into a muffled cough of discomfort. He looked up at Mafa. Sure he was meant to guard the place as his new role in the pack, but he had to sleep too! And it was oh so easy to sleep on a full stomach....
Yet her words did make sense now that she mentioned it. He wasn't used to being near such a desirable kill before and didn't stop to think that others (not necessarily other hyenas) would come looking for a feed. A sleepy pup would make a nice desert. Draging himself up, he nodded. "Oh... yeah, suppose they will."
He followed her down, although he hopped onto one of the legs and then down onto the ground so the fall wasn't as great. "The skulls?" He asked, ready for her to lead... so long as she didn't sprint. "Which ones? There's bones everywhere."

Mafa waited rather impatiently as Rasuly slowly found his way down to her. The female huffed, she didn't have all day. Her drastic lack of patience was yet another one of her down falls. As soon as the pup joined her on the ground, Mafa started off at an easy pace. She didn't want to run, running on a full stomach always made her want to vomit, and she couldn't afford to lose her meal.
"My skull, the big one"
Mafa nodded her head, almost as if she was gesturing that it was right ahead. The main skull was where Mafa had lived during most of her life here in the graveyard, it was the center of everything in the graveyard, at least Mafa thought so. She'd let the pup hunker down there until he found his own spot in this wasteland. Up ahead, the bigger bones were starting to clear out and a rather massive structure that was an elephant skull was evident. Mafa paused and looked back at Rasuli,
"There it is"

Rasuli did his best to hurry. It wouldn't be too good to upset her now that he had only just joined her, but there was only so much a pup could manage, even if he was a smart cookie.
He trotted along on her heels, looking this way and that as they passed through and around different clumps of bones. He'd have to get a better idea of the area too, at the moment it all looked the same. But at least the pace was easy and it helped him stay awake enough to pay some attention to what she said and where they went.
Her skull huh? Somewhere up ahead? Did she mean she had some big skull that she hung around? Odd... He didn't realise she meant an elephant skull and that it could be big enough to sleep in, not until he saw it at least. When it's huge, off-white form loamed into view, Rasuli slowed down and his ears perked forward. "Whoa...." He breathed. That must have been some HUGE elephant! (he had never seen a fully grown bull elephant before) "That's all your's?" He was impressed, it certainly would make an awsome den. Not to mention it would no doubt scare off any lion cubs that might come this way. A perfect place to sleep.

Mafa had the urge to smirk in pride at the pup's reaction at her skull,
"Yes, all mine..."
She had found it, she had lived in it. It was her home base, it brought a nice, safe feeling to the female. Her pace sped up as they neared the skull and soon they stood right in front of it. Mafa's head turned to and fro, inspecting the skull, making sure it was the same as she had left it. And in fact, everything was still in place from the large tusks sticking out the sides right down to the scattered bones of prey she had eaten long ago. With a curt nod, Mafa poked her head into the skull, making sure it was empty. She then looked back to Rasuli and nodded for him to follow her.
The inside of the skull was rather spacious, especially for two not yet fully grown hyenas. Mafa instinctively trotted to a shallow ditch that she usually slept in. She had slept in that same spot for so long that the dirt had eroded away, leaving a hole that was just her size. With a sigh, the lead female sat and looked to the pup, her tone more informative than welcoming,
"Lay down where ever, it's safe here"

Though ready to sleep, the pup pushed himself to keep up with her quickened gait as they made for the enormous skull Mafa had pointed out as her's. When they came before it, Rasuli's head swiveled up and around, looking at the tusks and its large looming eye sockets, while the older hyena inspected it. As she checked to see it was empty, he sniffed for a moment at the bare old bones of smaller animals and then looked back at her. Seemed he was welcome enough to come inside. Or at least that she would tolerate him sleeping here.
He followed her inside, pausing for a second to watch her take her prefered spot before he began to inspect parts of it with his nose. Moving around near the 'wall' of the skull he snorted as he came across a faint scent of another hyena. Male it seemed. He looked at Mafa but didn't say anything. Must be another member of the pack that was allowed to sleep here? At least at some point.
Finding another spot nearer the back, he scratched at the dirt a bit before laying himself down. Even though she said it was safe, he huddled with his back against the skull wall. There was something comforting about feeling something solid against his back, knowing nothing would creep up behind him. Then with another yawn he laid his head down on his paws.
"Thanks Mafa." He replied softly, blinking his eyes tiredly. "The lions don't come here?" He didn't think they would. Not only was it deep in the graveyard, but he didn't think anyone would want to mess with a hyena such as this one. Still, he felt safe enough around her. Actually... despite her cold tone and expressions, finally being near another hyena was a comfort.

Mafa padded to her little ditch, keeping an eye on Rasuli the whole time. She felt a bit uneasy having a stranger in her so called den. Tukutu was the only other hyena that was allowed to sleep here, though he rarely did, which made Mafa rather happy. She liked the solitude and lack of company. She was a loner, not a born loner, but her life experiences had made her the recluse that she was today. The pup didn't bother Mafa as much as she thought her would've. In a way, her reminded her of herself when she was a happy go lucky pup, a bit of her past that she had wiped away completely.
With a heavy and thought muddled sigh, Mafa hunkered down in the ditch, sending bits of dust into the air as she did so. She shook her head at his question,
"They wouldn' dare, I'd rip them to shreds"
Mafa wouldn't allow a lion to get any where near this skull. It had belonged to hyenas for as long as she could remember. The old pack, Banzai's pack, had lived here as well before they left. This was how Mafa came to live in the skull, and own the graveyard itself. Or so she believed. The female nodded her head at his thanks and then laid it down on the ground. She wasn't about to fall asleep, but it was a good idea to lay around and digest for a bit. She wasn't used to such sincerity, perhaps it was a good thing?

Her answer seemed to satisfy him and he gave a slight nod against his paws with his head before letting his eyes drift closed. Finally being able to lay down and take the weight off his legs, not to mention the heavy but satisfied feeling in his full belly, was a relief. It was also a relief to have found the hyena's alpha and even more-so that he'd been allowed to join. It reminded him of being with others again, though they weren't family. And he wouldn't dare try to huddle up against Mafa like he used to with his mother!
But still, there was a much more complete feeling inside him now. He felt on track with the voice-in-his-head's plan. There was someone else now that agreed with his ideas about lions as well as a whole bunch of other hyenas that he was now bonded with. He was also in a place that most definitely belonged to the hyena, a place where he belonged too. Oh yes, despite being very sleepy now, he couldn't wait to get started with exploring and guarding the graveyard tomorrow and meeting the rest of the pack.
With that happy thought, such a happy thought after so long, he was able to fall asleep peacefully.
(( Don't know how soon you want to wrap this up? I mean, he could still wake up in the night from a noise or a nightmare or something. Haha! I wonder how Mafa react to that (probably tell him to shut up and go back to sleep). Otherwise he can doze off now for the night and we can 'finish up' this particular scene. ))

((hope it's okay if I post an add-on to that rp. Since my SoA was raised by hyenas.)) The juvenile pups raised his tired head. Where was he? Searching his mind Haveo looked for the reason of him being here. Last he remembered, he had been wandering the pride lands looking for some trace of his own kind. So how had he ended up in this deary place?
The three-toned canine stood on wobbily legs. He felt them nearly give out, in an attempt to not fall down he leaned onto the large white mass next to him. It took only a few moments before he pushed himself off of the support. It was then, with a clear head, that he really looked at his location.
It was grey and dusty, he was surrounded by only bones. He had heard of this place when he was among the hyenas. An elephant graveyard. His former pack had dreamed of being in such a place but they couldn't. He didn't recall why. Slowly, the wild dog stepped out from the spot and searched the grounds. He coughed, so much dust in the air!
Still, Haveo moved forward his steps uneven amongst the fragile skeletons. A bone slipped out from under him, sending Haveo into a tumble. He slid to a stop, dust rising from the ground beneath him. He coughed again as he stood up. Why would the hyenas come here?
He didn't leave himself time to ponder as he continued searching. The juvenile searched in and around large bones. His body ached for food. Climbing over a hill of bones he spotted something amongst a spot bare of bones. A recent death.
Haveo searched the air for some sign of others. No, none that would most likely be coming back. The violet-eyed male rushed down the hill and slowed only a foot away from the carcass. Yes, it would be a fine meal. His eyes glimmered with hunger lust. He circled the dead grey being looking for the best way to tear into it.
A black nose twitched, there was already an open spot. This only fueled him more as he at long last climbed up the carcass. He felt tall upon this being. There was an opening in the tough wrinkled skin. At this moment he didn't care for who had actually made the tear or the first bites. They weren't here nor were they near by.
Without hesitation he sunk his thirsty teeth into the flesh drawing blood from the torn tissue. He ate in chunks, swallowing them with some difficulty. It was only until long moments later that he was satisfied. His belly full, his thirst quenched, his tiredness gained. What would it matter that he could be killed here. This was enough to last him the rest of his lifetime.
So with determination the wild dog hopped of the carcass and hid himself among a hollowed bone. His search will have to wait, if he was even going to continue it at all. With that, Haveo's violet eyes closed.
