"Everyone say I'm just like my father, I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing." a chuckle forms over her lips as she shakes her head "My father is such a goof. He tries to act cool, but he can't. I think that the one thing I love about him though." she pauses as she looks down at her little brother in the picture "They had to return home early, they were suppose to be here for two weeks." something changed in her voice, alittle sadness sipped into her words "My brother testing ended up falling on the second week, and they were going to reschedule, but ask them not to." swallowing, she takes in a slow deep breath.
Turning back towards Fallon, she lifts her hand to brush some of her hair from her face "That was sweet of your parents. I know that had to be hard, but at least they were with you right? You were able to celebrate Chanukah with them. I bet in your parents eyes, that was probably the greatest gift ever."

Fallon listened to Melinda intently, trying to picture a goofy father. Her father was more reserved. He was a quiet and nurturing man, not the life of the party but certainly very significant to his daughter. "My father tells horrible jokes, especially when he tries to say them in English. It comes out all wrong, and the funny part is that he doesn't even realize it," she said, laughing at the memory. According to her father, he spoke perfect English. According to his English-speaking wife and daughter, he had some work to do.
Using one hand to smooth out the wrinkles in her skirt, Fallon lifted her other to repeat the motion on her blouse. "When they worry, they like to make plans. I was sick, and so they planned a mini-Chanukah. It helped them focus on something other than their only child lying in a hospital bed, you know?" She let her hands fall back down, folded them neatly in her lap. It was so nice to see Melinda, but Fallon would have to go soon. She still had arranging to do, and she had a meeting with an administrator later that day. For now, she could spare a few extra minutes.

Melinda didn't say anything, only because she agreed with Fallon's last statement. Glancing down at her wrist watch, she blinks at the time before looking up at Fallon "I should let you go, I have to practice in about thirty minutes." looking down at her music sheet, she sighs "I haven't even attempted to memorize this, so its going to be interesting trying to play." with a uneasy chuckle, she seem embarrassed as she looks back up at Fallon.
Slipping off the bed, she moves over to her desk once again. Picking up her cell phone, she moves back over to the bed. Holding it out, she smiles to Fallon "Do you think I could get your new cell phone? That way I can text you, and we can hang out?"

Fallon stood from the bed. "I should go too. I have a meeting later," she said, following Melinda to her desk. Her eyes strayed to the music sheets. "I'm sure you'll be fine." Truth be told, Fallon had never heard Melinda play anything, but it was the polite thing to say.
Reaching out, Fallon took the cell phone from Melinda and quickly entered all of her information into it. It was something she had done once before, when everything was normal and Fallon was just a regular student at Barren Pines. Could that really have been less than six months ago? It felt like a lifetime away.
Fallon passed the phone back to Melinda. "Please call my phone. Then I can get your number too," she said. She touched at the skirt of her uniform and then moved to the door. "We can go to the Fresh Market this weekend." The memory made her heart swell, and Fallon leaned forward again, pulling Melinda into a hug.
She wanted to say more, but she couldn't. It was too much emotion welling up inside of her. Instead, Fallon let go of Melinda, laughed, and then darted out of the door, disappearing down the hallway.
