Well at least her claws had hit the mark albeit no where near as deep as she had intended them to go. They both had the disadvantage of the water slowing them down, making the fight a bit sloppy. And though this fight was going downhill fast Usiku would not regret standing up to this lioness. She pulled her one paw away quickly, but the other one was from her now injured leg and it's reaction time was a bit slow. The lionesses teeth sank into her paw and she let out a growl mixed with a yelp.
For being an obviously high ranked lion this one could certainly hold her own. Just Usuki's luck, meet the one high ranking lion who actually knew how to fight. Though she knew better than to try to pull her paw away, that would only do more damage than go. So she just stood her ground hoping that the lioness would let go and return home. For she had indeed wont he battle. Though Usuki would never say or admit to that.

Maua looked at the dog in glee as he fang sank into the beasts paw, she half hoped the dog would yank back and struggle. To do so would cause allot more damage, but the dog seemed to have at least a little bit of sense in that pea brain of hers and since she didn't make any further attacks but stood still with Maua's jaws clamped about her pa the lioness was certain she had won this scuffle. She growled lowly from around the dogs paw - well aware that a few quick shake of her head and this wild dog would never run right again. But this was just a lesson and Maua despite her sometimes foul temper was not a murderer.
Slowly she released the she-dog , making a face as she did so "You taste as badly as you smell mongrel, but today that is your saving grace - eating you like prey would be like eating dung and I am a civilized creature...I only kill what I plan to eat" She spat the dogs taste from her mouth and leapt out of the water. "Don't come back to my water hole again beast, or I might change my moral code" She snarled at the Wild dog before loping back up the trail - the sun was starting to go down. Kuvuli would be home soon....and she needed to clean up before seeing him.

To say that Usuki was grateful that the lioness didn't tear her paw apart was an understatement. The lion could have done so quickly and in doing so screwed up any chances for Usuki to lead an independent life. She held her paw above the water as the lioness began to leave, blood dripping from the many holes punctured in it. Oh yes this would definitely put a crimp in her hunting. But at least she was alive and with time her wounds would heal.
"You are not civilized." She said with a slight snarl as the lioness disappeared down the trail. No civilized animal would attack another over something as insignificant as a watering hole. Slowly she made her way out of the water, her wounds stung so badly as the muddy water lapped up against them.
Slowly she got out of the water and after a few moments to catch her breath began to limp away, leaving a small trail of blood. She would find a place nearby to clean her wounds and rest before moving again. Tonight she would need to find a good hiding spot, for there were beasts out here that would kill her knowing that she wouldn't be able to fight back.
