Shadowlit Facade Digital Malevolence I'll keep updating it with bands I find aswell. I have a few blogs I download from/find new bands from. Regarding this, is there anything like Metal Archives for electronic music? Not that I know of. The only thing I know that would even come close is Iskurs Guide To Electronic Music, but that just teaches about genres.

In the meantime, here's a few links to update the list with:

But srsly, I'm going to be up all night reading that, as it's actually very informative from what I can tell.
Maybe 'cause they're not actually all that great? sweatdrop I dunno, I'm rather ambivalent about Agonoize. Pretty popular (relatively speaking), so I'd say they warrant the add.

Although, if you didn't notice, its also very opinionated and has some wrong information but its the best guide I've found. I added all them. I like all them, except I never really cared for Unter Null, Virtual Victim wasn't bad but I don't think I'd go looking for any of their material.

I actually don't mind his opinions, as I find myself agreeing with a good deal of them, especially as far as insipid, dancefloor trance goes. Crap like that is what contributes to the stereotype of electronic music as the domain of glowstick-waving rave kids.
Yeah, not crazy about Unter Null myself. As for VV, the MySpace page doesn't really have many good tracks except for "Last Goodbye." The album that track's from, Transmission, is available here on last.fm in its entirety, and actually has a good deal of quality tracks. At least, as far as my tastes are concerned.

I was pretty sure you'd know that, but it never hurts to point it out. I'll have to listen to that when I get a chance. I can be pretty picky about the artists I like. I still can't find an artist I like as much as Nurzery [Rhymes] though. Alien Vampires comes close though, I just enjoy their really dance inspired tracks. But Nurzery seems to be my favorite artist I've found from within both EBM and Aggrotech.

Well yeah, the guide's pretty upfront about its tongue-in-cheek nature, as evidenced by the tutorial's history of electronic music. xd
N[R] are pretty good, Alien Vampires less so. If I had to pick a favorite right now, it'd probably be Aesthetic Perfection for EBM and a tie between Psyclon Nine and Die Sektor for aggrotech.

Alien Vampires aren't very great, I know, but the few songs from them I do enjoy, I enjoy a lot. I think I only like about six songs from all three of the albums I own, but I really like those few songs. Nurzery, however, I enjoy all their songs on both albums I have. Aesthetic Perfection I really haven't got to much into, I need to get an album by them. Die Sektor I find to be very bland, I enjoy them, but their songs kind of just run together. I enjoy Psyclon Nine quite a bit, a lot of people who are really 'into' the scene seem to hate them though. I think P9 put on a fantastic live show, and all their album are different in sound but still remain to sound like a P9 album, which I think makes a great band.

I take that attitude towards a lot of electronic bands. I can find plenty of bands that have a handful of good tracks, but comparatively few that can produce a listenable album. Some subgenres just aren't conducive to prolonged listening, though. I liked most of what I heard from Thorns, haven't tried the other one. As for AP, I strongly recommend the Close to Human album, though it can be a bit tough to get one's hands on. Had to get mine imported from the UK. Haven't seen P9 live, so I can't really attest to that, but I wouldn't be surprised. If I had to guess why there's a backlash against them, I'd say it might just be popularity, as they're probably THE premier aggrotech act out there. Another (less likely) reason is that they've strayed a bit from the purely electronic sound on Divine Infekt to the more prominent use of guitars on Crwn Thy Frnicatr, though I've got no problem with that.
By the way, what exactly would you call this? Kind of an odd duck on that album.

I'm sure I could find that AP album somewhere, yep, its on the Industrial Scum blog, so I can just download it...I mean listen to it. ninja I think you are right about the P9 thing, I'm pretty sure its both of those reasons. I hear quite a bit that people don't like the mixing of Metal guitaring in electronic music, I actually really enjoy it. That is some form of Trance, it has bits of Goa and NRG and some other forms.

Hah, I'm probably the idiot for searching out and buying the actual album anyway. Can't help it though, I just have to have an album whenever possible, otherwise I don't feel like I've really experienced the band.
I figured it was trance, but the myriad subdivisions of that subgenre are more than I can navigate at the moment. Thanks.

I'll update the list when I get a chance, I picked up a few extra hours of work this week so I've been pretty busy. Plus I also just got a new synthesizer, so I've been spending the little free time I have studying how to use the damn thing.

Nifty. Do you have a MySpace music/YT channel/something you could upload to? I'm curious.
Fiddling with a synth and the appropriate software sounds very intriguing, but, sadly, I've never had any musical aptitude. gonk

I don't have any music made with my hardware synths yet, I still need to buy another one before I can get my band thing going, I should be buying my next synth in about two weeks. biggrin Its going to be an Access Virus C, or B, depending on which one I find for the better price. I do have an intro thingy I made for my band with some software synths on my bands myspace. www.myspace.com/neotericempire
