Growing up he was always warned not to bite the hand that feeds you. He could go a day without food, but he wouldn't be any wiser about which ring was 'decent' or not tomorrow. The way he said, "Yeah, I'd be more surprised if you didn't." was in a harmless way. She was helping him, and that counted for something. "I think they all look fine, but which do you think is the best one?"
Standing in that store, Serah was the supreme know-how on all things shopping to him. "I'd probably waste half my money in this place just to make sure I got something good if you weren't here." What he was saying was 'thank you'. Creatively.

"Well, on the bright side now, you're wasting half your money on something excellent now right?" She winked, putting her items to the side, making Jude's quest priority as the moment. Offhandedly, she thought about how this task seemed similar to looking for a rare item in video games. It was a delicate selection on which rare item to go for. She selected one ring, holding it up to Jude.
"Okay. This one." She held one up to him, selecting the most simplest of designs. "Your girlfriend would probably like this one if she's a tomboy. The rest are nice but they may overlap into the more.. girly taste?" She said the last part with a questioning tilt of head, the question stated moreso to herself than to Jude, simply not finding the appropriate word to describe her what she was trying to state.
"Now that you've got your ring, you want something to add to that? A cute stuffed animal or perhaps a small giftbox to put it in? You can't give that to her alone, can you?" She looked pointedly at the ring, eyebrows raised, as she took Jude's arm into the giftbox section as he spoke. She wasn't going to let him out of here without a pretty giftbox at the very least.
