The usually shy and timid boy was showing a different side to him right now. For a change he was actually letting his guard down and taking a risk at letting somebody in. Heck, he was even more comfortable around her than he was with Maria now, and that was saying something. When the lovely Havana Brown thanked him for trusting her he gave a single breathey exhale that was meant for humor. "No, thank you for being so ... hm, such a pleasure to be around." It took him a moment to get the words out but he thought they fit quite well.
As she began to shift her position Achilles was quick to snap his attention back on her. The scenery was hardly important when she moved. It was as though he had to be knowledgeable of her every motion. He couldn't say if it was because he felt weary still or if it was some other feeling. Maybe the sort of feeling he had around Maria? He wasn't sure, but it left him in a curious state about it. When she explained her similar situation he felt relief in that confession. Well, at least he wasn't the only one who didn't go out and make tons of friends. He was content with having only a handful, even if they weren't all that close. "And why don't you?" he asked in a soft and curious manner. What was her reason to stay so distant for people?

Mimicking his little breath of amusement, Nalani shook her head a little at his complement. “Had to think about that, didn’t you?” She asked with a wry smile, but her eyes smiled a little more softly, showing she appreciated the comment. Maybe it was because she was simply tired of trying to find amusement in everything, or just simply tired period, Nalani was being more real with Achilles than she could ever really remember being. That wasn’t to say that she was putting on an act for every moment leading up to this, but she was being her whole self at this moment, not just some part of it.
Looking down at the tom’s blue gray eyes, she considered him for a moment. He trusted her, so it would only be honorable if she trusted him. Inhaling to steady herself, Nalani opened her mouth to reply. “I… don’t feel connected. To anything. So I never really... get to know anyone. More than how they could entertain me.” Nalani smirked, looking Achilles a little more in the eye. “That’s about all you were going to be, but you’re too damn polite.” She laughed, tilting her head back; the sounds of her mirth shaking her frame. “And cute.” She added once she had calmed down a little, “But only when you blush.” She sobered up a little more, looking back down at his face. Her smile faded a little as she remembered again how she had been feeling earlier that night. “And maybe you just caught me in the right mood.” She murmured quietly.

At first the boy didn't know what to say. He was only going to be for her entertainment. Well, he couldn't say that he wouldn't try. She was a very lovely girl after all, and when she smiled at him he saw something special in those happy eyes. He wasn't to sure on what to think of it though. It saddened him to hear that she couldn't connect with anybody, it truly did. However, as she went on his sadness was replaced with flattery. He was polite? Well, of course he was. He was always polite to everybody. Then she told him which was cute, and those words alone sent shivers up his spine. The good kind. His cheeks began to burn up again, making him look to the side, towards the grass with a smile that was so bright and glowing with happiness. Those eyes, he could feel them beaming down on him, and the fluttering in his stomach just wouldn't leave. His body was out of control he thought, and it scared him a little. "The right mood? Well, I'm glad you were in 'the right' mood." He made a very bold decision and scooted up so that his head rested in her lap as he continued to look up at her now.

Nalani smirked and smiled, enjoying his reaction; he really was quite cute when he blushed. Opening her mouth no reply, she was brought up short when he scooted his head into her lap. Looking down at him, she closed her mouth, tilting her head slightly to give him a searching, yet still somewhat amused look. If someone else had done this, she probably would have demanded they remove their head at once or just played with them, depending on how rude they were. As she gazed down at him, she wondered if he even had a rude bone in his body, and then what she should do about it. Deciding to say something thing, she opened her mouth again. “Comfy?” Raising her eyebrows in amusement, she thought for a beat more then smiled slightly. “Good to know you aren’t always so bashful, Achilles.” Though she may not be specifically looking for it anymore, Achilles still was being rather amusing. Nalani couldn’t help but keep smiling at him. She leaned back on her hands, looking out over the lake again. It was now a black mirror of the sky, the reflections of a few stars and lamps glinting off its surface. Watching the lights for a while, Nalani mulled over her feelings. You could never really tell how a day was going to turn out from its start, and tonight certainly had thrown her for a curve. But sitting here with Achilles’ head in her lap, she didn’t really mind. Someone had something else in mind for her then just drifting aimlessly. Still leaning back, she looked down at the tonkenese. “You know, I don’t know what brought me to this moment, but I’m glad I’m here.” She murmured, eyes soft but serious.

When she asked about his comfort he quickly nodded in her lap and smiled up at her shyly. "Yes. Very," he spoke with a bit more confident than usual but didn't try to over do it. He brought his hands up to touch her knees, just wanting to rest them there, to feel like he had a hold on her. "I'm not usually so... uh... well, like this." He clenched his jaw slightly, feeling like he should just shut up already. All this talking he was doing was only causing himself more embarrassment and in front of Nalani he didn't want to be embarrassed. He didn't want to be shy or nervous. He just wanted to relax and be himself around her.
As she leaned back on her hands he turned his eyes back up at the sky. By now the stars were all twinkling and shining down upon them, making Achilles want to glow with happiness at the setting. She spoke up finally, speaking of how she was glad to be here, like this, with him. That really made him feel warm and toasty inside even though the night was becoming surprisingly chilly. Was was Achilles suppose to say to that? There had to be something though. "Nalani..." he spoke suddenly, breaking the silence that had surrounded them. "I'm glad I'm here, too. I'm glad we happened to find each other." He felt like she was the missing piece of him. The cure to his personality flaws of being shy and scared of others. Around her he could learn to relax.

Nalani exhaled a quiet laugh shaking her head slightly with quiet amusement. It was clear enough that he had been going out of somewhat of a limb, being so very close to her, considering how he had been acting previously. Her gaze swept back out over the lake and then up at the sky again. Leaning back a little more so that her focus was completely on the heavens above her, she snorted very quietly, an amused chuckle that seemed to be commenting on the irony of the situation. On the one night she was feeling alone and receptive enough to actually reach out to someone, the person she levels with is actually a decent soul. She supposed it wasn’t that unlikely, but it felt like more than just a coincidence.
Musing wryly up at the stars, Nalani just knew that somewhere, at least a few gods were looking back down and laughing. She smirked, almost annoyed, but not quite. Though she felt slightly chagrined, she felt too relaxed to care at the moment. Then Achilles spoke, pulling her out of her reverie. He echoed her words, making her feel more at peace with the moment. Her head was tilted back far enough that she was sure he couldn’t see the grin spreading across her face. Screw’em. She thought silently. Screw'em all and their curve-balls. Composing her face somewhat, she glanced down at him, amusement shining in her eyes. “Oh? And why is that?” And without waiting for a response, she leaned forward, placing her hands on either side of his face and kissed him, cutting off any reply he might have had.

Achilles should have just kept his mouth shut. He didn't know how to explain this one to her. He didn't even know how to explain it to himself even. There was just something about being here, just like this under the stars with Nalani that made him glad he ventured out into the night. He took a deep breathe, trying to come up with an answer but before he could even begin to mash some words together in his head there were hands on his cheeks and a frighteningly new sensation burning up his lips. His eyes widened once his eyes registered what was happening in that moment. Nalani?! Nalani's face! So close! Lips on his! He was so scared at first, not knowing what he should do or what he shouldn't do. He tensed up, and he automatically thought that was the first mistake.
The awkward position he was in was making the situation a little better. At least he wasn't staring into her eyes with his wide concerned ones. As the kiss dragged on he swallowed, obviously displaying signs of uncomfortable feelings. He didn't want to be rude to her though. He actually enjoyed this sparking sensation he got in his chest. That was good, right? He comforted her shyly by hesitantly lifting his hand and brushing some of the dark strands of hair out of the way so they didn't tickle his neck and face. Once he had cleared that he leaned up into the kiss slightly, showing her it was alright by him now. This seemed to be going on forever when in reality it was all happening in a matter of seconds.

Nalani could feel Achilles stiffening underneath her and she smirked slightly to herself. Somehow, she knew he’d probably react like that at first. And indeed he did relax eventually, pressing gently back against her as she leaned down to him. His lips were warm, soft, and she could feel him breathing on her neck and under her chin. It was a testament to Nalani’s indifference to what may be considered normal that she was in truth giving her first kiss away on something of a whim, but she could hardly call it throwing it away. Achilles was a nice guy, and it was worth it just to feel him squirm for a few moments, but the rest wasn’t that bad, either…
After… who knew how long, Nalani wasn’t paying attention, she pulled away, leaning back up slightly to look him in the eyes. She was smirking in a self-satisfied way, but her eyes were still gentle, though they shone brightly with her amusement. Looking down at him, her smirk widened and she shook her head very slightly, leaning down again very briefly to kiss him lightly on his forehead. Then she leaned back on her hands again, looking out across the lake again, still smiling to herself.

The young teenager had just given his first kiss to this girl. Yet, he felt no regrets in it what so ever. She was the first person he had really connected with in a long time, if at all ever. As she pulled back she seemed more amused than in awe, and this small observation started to make Achilles feel a bit concerned. Was this a joke to her? He had given his all into this kiss, trying not to seem oblivious to how it worked, and yet she was finding humor in this. When she leaned down over him and gave his forehead a quick peck he couldn't help feel familiar butterflies swarm in his stomach. "Nalani..." he spoke softly, just above a whisper. Her name on his tongue was all he wanted. The taste of it was so fulfilling. Her eyes were focused on the lake, though. He needed to do something. Something to show how thankful he was for meeting her. He sat up slowly and scooted over next to her until he was sitting side by side with the Havana Brown. He felt his body tremble slightly from the idea he had in his mind but forced his arm to lift and slide around her shoulders anyways. He pulled her close to his side, trying to make it comfortable at the same time. He was so lightheaded from the nervousness but he wanted to prove he could do these sort of things. That he wasn't always a coward.

Nalani felt Achilles get up and move over to her side. She was still leaning back when he put his arm somewhat nervously around her and she shifted with him as he pulled her against him. Her smile softened as she leaned against him, and looking around at him, she nudged his cheek slightly, half playful, half tender, smirking softly. “What, are we trying to one-up each other now?” She asked teasingly, sliding her arm around his waist without really too much consideration. Shifting a little more she put her head on his shoulder and looked out to the lake again, breathing calmly. “You’re still nervous.” She commented absently, enjoying being at peace in this moment. She smiled softly to herself, and settled more comfortably against him. He may be nervous be she was just fine. “Achilles, let me ask you something. What was the first thing I said to you? The very first thing.” She asked casually. She appreciated that he was somewhat pushing himself to be more confident around her, and it was rather amusing to watch, and a little cute, too; but it was time to put him at ease. He deserved to be at peace too, if he wanted it.

Her touch was like a slow acting poison that he just couldn't get enough of. The sensation was almost unbearable as she held him around the waist, but because of the possibilities he forced himself to stay strong, to hold on. He had never really let himself get this close to anybody, and with the time it took him to move from one thing to the next, he was just so scared it was moving far to fast. After all, they had just met and everything. When her head rested upon his shoulder like that he couldn't help but look down at her, a smile starting to spread across his lips and his worries dieing down again for what seemed like the millionth time that night. Boy, did this girl put him on a rollicoaster.
When the devilishly gorgeous girl spoke to him of the things she previously said, Achilles fought to remember what had actually left her mouth. What was it she had said to begin with. It took him a moment or two to recall what she had said, but when it hit him he couldn't help but laugh lightly. She didn't bite. Well, of course not. So far she had been nothing but gentle and kind to him, so why was he being so timid around her still. He finally took a large, deep inhale and let out slowly. His muscles and body just relaxing all together. He looked out over the lake as well, leaning his head on top of hers and muttering out simple, yet meaningful words. "I trust you..." and he said it was honesty. The first person he trusted just so happened to be a girl who was making him fall head over heels right now. Compared to what he was feeling now, Maria was just kitten love. This was stronger.
