Mizzie: the sopranos last year weren't suck sopranos. They were actually pretty damn good. They were just used to either having the melody... or having one of those pieces where no one really had the melody. So when they were on harmony, we in the alto section were just giggling (partially because one of them was bragging about her scholarship to Oberlin and how good she was).

Aria: major-diva sopranos are pretty typical. The girl who was bragging about the Oberlin scholarship was one of them. She was actually really nice once you weren't in a choir environment with her.... I had a migraine one day, and couldn't stand light or sound, so I had to leave the room, and she gave me the painkillers that enabled me to get through the day. I hear that being at Oberlin has made her tone down the arrogance a little.... which is good.

Weird s**t starts happening when you get major diva ALTOS who THINK that they're sopranos. Half the time our section leader last year used our sectional time to practice for a soprano solo that she had no chance of getting. Only one other person was uberly pissed, though, because the girl was everyone's friend except mind (and the other girl... who was MY friend).

I'm a new Alto.

I was a Soprano 2, but I switched out because I felt my voice was more of an Alto voice.

So now I'm an Alto 1.

Heh. Dive Altos. Gotta love 'um. You know what. I am an Alto 2 who is currently singing a Soprano 1 solo, so suck it blaugh Yeah, but thats mostly because Im training the part of my voice since its the weakest. Im actually a decent soprano, Im just a FAR better Alto, and I feel if you sing better Alto then your Soprano voice is medicore by comparison. You can't be both, thats not fair, lol.

Well, if you can sing it, fine. The girl in question had no high range to speak of, though, and she actually THOUGHT that she was a soprano. ._.

Yes, we've got a few of the alto divas. unfortunatly, one of the worst is one of my best friends. she has the range to sing the soprano 1 part, she's got over a three octave range when she's warmed up, but she's definitly an alto. She has a very dark tone, and way too much vibrato to be singing the descant. We can usually keep her stablized in the Alto 1 section, but occasionally she'll start blaring the Soprano 1 part randomly as loud as she can, which... kind of hurts my ears, because notes that high shouldn't be sung that harsh. I love her to death, but she just gets on my nerves sometimes.

Ha thats me. Minus the vibrato. I dont have a whole lot yet, which is why Im a medicore soprano. Dont get me wrong the higher I sing the easier it is for me to sing vibrato, so its not too bad. However anything above high C is squeaking for the Annie, but Im training the upper part of my voice so that should change soon. And considering that Im an Alto 2 I think thats pretty damn good. Lol.

I was a soprano 2, but sometimes I needed to help the Altos. I didn't sing much of the high parts or solos, since my director thought that anyone under soprano 1 wasn't able to do high parts or solos... stare ...that and I was too shy to ask her for it. sweatdrop Too bad that those days are pretty much behind me now.

I'm a soprano. I bounced a lot between 1st and second so I'm not quite classifying myself as either. I miss choir though. Maybe next semester I can fit it into my schedule again.

I'm a second (mezzo) soprano, but my director occasionally puts me in the alto section for a song (none of the altos at my school can actually GO very low, and I can). But I've been taking lessons so my higher range is getting much stronger than it was. smile

Hi all, I'm a bass 1/baritone in my A Capella and Madrigal choirs. Whats up to all my fellow choir nerds. I'm hoping to be president of my school choir next year. Shout outs to other parts: Sopranos: gotta love you sweet hearts, you guys sing like I do when I get kicked to high up my leg and actually make it sound good, Altos: my lovely lover voiced honeys have got it going on (sucks that you always have the dissonance though, I understand) Tenors: Hurry up and mature, just joking, you guys rock it out, I wish I could hit those high notes of yours without coughing up my throat, Fellow Basses: keep it cool and low guys, we the beat that everyone has to follow, never forget we're leaders and we gotta make it sound tight everytime.

P.S. Why do choir girls have to be so hot???? I can't think straight with all the hots girls in my choir, wow! I know all the ladies that read this will be 10 times as hot though, simply cause they are on Gaia. Love ya'll. Peace.

I'm a bass..

and if there was anything below a bass, I would be in it. I can sing lower than most of the guys in my bass section, and I have have problems with anything above an on-staff C (on a Treble Clef)

I'd love to be a Soprano.. they ALWAYS have the melody sad

I do too. :/

I'm grouped with the tenors since i'm the only bass in my whole chorus so I have real problems with that. D:
