Cam smiled at her hufflepuff student, then turned and said to Gale "well, i figured we could start out with something rather easy, so as to get into the swing of things. i was formerly another teacher, but i was moved, so i am getting used to a larger class and more interaction and more topics. when this discussion is over, you can pick the next topic if you like." she then saw a hand was raised and said "Miss Archer, would you give it a try?"

Alex cleared her throat. "A werewolf differs from a regular wolf in that it is not an animal at all times. It doesn't technically even exist aside from a brief period of time, once a month. A werewolf is defined as a human being whom has been infected with Lycanthropy...a conditioin which can only be spread to someone bitten by someone with it, and which causes those afflicted with it to transform into a wolf-like beast once a month, at the full moon..." she paused, deciding to leave her definition at that, and sitting back in her seat.

Gale smirked a bit and nudged Alex in the side, "Show off." he chuckled and wrote down what she had said, adding a few notes of his own, and by a few, he had already written to the bottom of the first page of parchment in his notebook, "Are you sure you're not supposed to be a Ravenclaw?"

Alex grinned, looking at Gale and whispering to him, "Trust me, I'm sure I'm in the right house. Let's just say its hard for me not to know about werewolves, and leave it at that." she jutted down a few notes, and leaned back in her seat again.

Arianna just looks around to the rest of the class, slightly more at ease that she didn't get called on. Taking in some notes from what people have said about werewolves, she was wondering how it differs from Hollywood's or literature's version of werewolves.
She still sits quietly while watching the class, trying her best not to daze off.

"Why do I have the strangest urge to sleep with the lights on now?" Gale shook his head and turned away from Alex, continuing to work on his notes, grinning as his notes finally started to dull down and just be bright blue, instead of glowing blue.

Blaire (sadly) had pre written all points in the the chapter that would be useful, so she sat there pretnding to write notes when instead she was working on her very first novel. she planned to print it maybe in both worlds, what would be a pun for the witches and wizrds would be would be funny for the muggles in how out of the world it seemed to be. she stopped and re-read the paragraph chuckling to herself.
'god i'm a sap.' she thought to herelf then scratched it out and began anew. she stopped after the third line where she quoted something from The Standard Book of Spells Grade 7, she began to amuse herself with doodling in the top corner of her paper; a wolf howling up at a bright full moon and then tapped it with her pen whispering a spell when suddenly it moved, the clouds in the picture revealed the moon and it gave a loud howl.
"Silencio!" Blaire hissed and the paper was quiet...just like room. s**t.

Alex stared at her paper for a moment, then turned in the direction of the noise, her light blue eyes appearing silver for a long moment. She looked at the Hufflepuff, a worried expression on her face, then she scoffed and turned back to the front of the classroom. She lowered her head to rest on one arm, using her free hand to rub an eye.
Alex did not intend to be rude to the girl, (the fact that she had noticed her house at all was remarkable.), but the sound of howling was one she did not wish to hear at the moment. She would be sure to apologize later, or at the very least consider doing so.

way to go. Blaire thought shrinking further into her seat. upset the house with worst reputation that'll do you good. BUt there was something in the reaction that Blaire felt horrible for. i mean she was no Ravenclaw (she glanced a Gale) however she did have a working brain and obviously she insulted the Slytherin.
...s**t.
Blaire had half a mind to appologize via note, but figured cowardice was not the best way forward. she would appologize after class.

kyle heard the howling while he was asleep,then he glanced at gale "was that my wolf fluffy that made that noise?"

Gale blinked when he heard a howl and looked around. He appeared slightly nervous. It wasn't exactly common knowledge, per say -unless you had been in his muggle studies class the year before- but he had a very....fearful way of accepting dogs. He shivered slightly when he realized that there were no dogs in the room and turned back to the front of class.
That little hufflepuff is gonna get in trouble one of these days....

Well that was unexpected. Out of nowhere she heard this loud howling noise...almost exactly like a wolf. That woke her out of her trance immediately and looks around for the source of the noise.
'Was...that part of the class?'
This little Hufflepuff was confused..and somewhat amazed that they could replicate a wolf howl here, somehow.
(if only she knew what really caused that howl) She's taking this as a sign to probably not fall asleep in class, who knows what other gimmicks this place could have. Everybody though seems to be staring at the other Hufflepuff student while she looks like she got that ' I got in trouble' look on her face. Putting two and two together Arianna assumes that her housemate is probably the one who did that noise.
'I wonder how she did that..' Instead of looking at her with annoying like the rest of the class did, she was curiously wondering what kind of spell or something she used to do that. Sounds neat...
Back to class now..or to daydreaming.

Around the corner from the DADA classroom you could hear Anna's loud clunky combat boots before she came running into the class. She wiped the sweat off her brow, she'd gotten caught up in the restricted section at the library once again, and was now late for class. 'Crap...maybe I shouldn't have made such a loud entrance and she wouldn't have noticed me.' she thought to herself. As she mentally cursed the Headmaster for taking her wand, she was annoyed by the fact that she could have just used a disillusion charm and slipped right in without anyone noticing. "Sorry I am late Professor!" She spoke fast as she took a seat at the very back of the class, and tried her best not to be noticed. "Do you know what we are doing?" she whispered to Gale.

Alex sighed, resting her free hand on the desk in front of her. Sitting so close to Gale, she easily heard Anna's entrance, but paid her no mind. She lost herself in thought, thinking mainly about how she was going to explain her scoffing to the Hufflepuff after class. 'Wait a second...' Alex though to herself, 'Way to stay true to your house, Alexandria. Apologize for scoffing? To a Hufflepuff? Indeed.' She closed her eyes tightly, pushing those thoughts out of her head, and tried in vain to re-direct her attention to the front of the class. The teacher had not yet responded to the answer she had given, but Alex didn't complain. She had already lost herself again.
