In all honesty, Yvette was somewhat jealous of this girl's interests. They all sounded so educated in comparison to her own hobbies. Yet one of the mentioned activities that Tara mentioned brought out a shy confession from Yvette's lips.
"I've never seen Star Wars."
Her family couldn't afford any really fancy cable, and in all honesty, they couldn't afford any sort of outings to the movie theater either. Many movie titles were completely lost on the quiet girl, but Star Wars, thanks to being such a classic and popular title, was at least something she recognized by title as a movie.
For a moment, she couldn't help but feel very embarrassed, but when Tara mentioned her own experiences with sewing, the generally uncomfortable feeling fled. The feeling was instead replaced with little gerbil giggles. That's right, Yvette laughed and giggled in a fashion that almost sounded like a rodent. It was cute and appropriate on her, since it would be hard to imagine such a quiet girl belting out the laughter at any other volume.
"I'm sorry, but that just sounds silly to me!" Tara must have either had really long clothing, or sewing by hand, that much was certain.

If Yvette knew that Tara's biology experiments included studying the mold in the fridge, or that chemistry involved mixing coffee with corn chowder, she might have been less impressed. She was slightly horrified at Yvette's admission though, and clicked her tongue sorrowfully. "You poor deprived child. You should come over sometime, I have all of them on DVD. Study materials, y'know? Maybe we can watch them together."
Tara had an extensive DVD library, containing everything from Star Wars to Space Jam, as well as several Nova specials and even the first season of The Jetsons. Obsessive, perhaps, but at least she was thorough. And now, she had the burning desire to drag Yvette over and marathon all of it.
Was she laughing? After Tara double-checked, she started to giggle too. "That's what my mom said. That I was being silly, I mean. But I just can't keep my eyes on my work, and as soon as I look away, I'm sewing the hem to my sleeve." She shrugged. "I'm fine with being bad at some things, as long as I'm good at others. Everyone has something they're good at, and things they're not, right? And working together is how we overcome our... oh man, now I sound like an after-school special."

The girl wilted slightly at the offer of watching the movie. It wasn't that she didn't want to see it. It was just the fact that the indigo-haired girl was embarrassed over her inability to watch it before. That, and the fact that many times people made offers of a similar nature, then never followed through. It wasn't hard to forget the quiet girl in class.
In an attempt to be polite and grateful, she uttered "I would enjoy that... how close is your house to the bus stop?" It would have been nice to not have to rely on the bus as her main form of transportation, but she had no license and Daddy needed his truck during the day to run errands.
Tara was quite good at distracting Yvette from her own emotions, and soon enough her attention was on this girl's words rather than the embarrassment which was still coloring her cheeks. Despite the fact Yvette really didn't ever watch any after-school specials when growing up (solely because their cable plan was practically non-existant), she was familiar with the phrase. "Oh no, I totally know what you mean! You didn't sound like an after-school special, I swear it!" Her fingers gently reached up and planted themselves on her companion's shoulder, as if trying to let her know she was doing fine.

"Uhhhhhhhhh."
Tara was stalling. Poorly. Not because she was having second thoughts, but because she didn't know where the bus stop was and was trying to remember. Surely she'd passed one, right? Right?
"I don't really know," she admitted. "I didn't live in Destiny City before. I'd visited a lot, but I'm still getting used to living here. My brother's been dropping me off at school. But hey, it can't be that far, right? I'll have to look it up online. Unless you know the bus route," Tara added, as if expecting Yvette to have the map memorized.
This girl was too sweet for her own good, and Tara wanted to give her a hug. So she did, squeezing tightly for a moment before letting go. "I can't decide if we should start with Episode I or Episode IV," she said, speaking as though the marathon was a foregone conclusion. "They made the fourth one first- that's the one everyone knows as just plain Star Wars. What do you think? Chronologically by storyline or film production? It'll be good to watch again, I haven't since I went away to school."
Tara paused, breathless but excited. It didn't matter that she barely knew Yvette, or that she was probably using her to make herself feel better. It was her mission to initiate the untrained, and if she got something out of the deal too, was that so bad? Of course not. It was win/win, no matter how you looked at it.
So why was there a lingering feeling of guilt in the back of her mind?

Tara's prediction about Yvette and her knowledge of the bus routes was right on the money. The girl nodded her head and stated "If you give me your address, I'll probably be able to tell."
She didn't quite get an address though. Instead she got a hug. Having so little time to react, all she managed to do in response was press her face quietly into the other girl's shoulder before she was released again. If there was one thing that the quieter of the two appreciated, it was Tara's energy. Certainly, she might have said "strange" things at times, but in all honesty, she made up for Yvette's quiet nature.
Upon prompting about which order to watch the movies in, her lips smiled sweetly as she answered "I am fine with whichever order you prefer." It was the honest truth, but at the same time, Yvette still had the lingering doubt that she'd even get to watch one of these films with Tara.

Tara was duly impressed. Knowledge of the city bus system may not have been earth shattering, but it was more than she had. "Really? Awesome!" Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a plain black composition notebook and flipped it open, revealing that a good half of the pages had been ripped out. Another reach into the bag and she had a blue ballpoint pen. It didn't take long for her to scribble her information down, rip the page out, and hand it to Yvette. "Address, phone number, e-mail. Call or something and we'll work it out!"
As far as Tara was concerned, this was as good an excuse as any to break out the DVDs. It would be good to brush up on her fight patterns... and better to do so with someone who could be a friend.
"In that case, I think we should start with the classics. The chronology's easy enough to get, I think. And you really need some grounding," she added, her tone somewhat pitying. If Yvette hadn't even seen Star Wars, who knew what else she was missing out on?

Her deep indigo eyes flickered over the address, and rather easily she was able to confirm "If I remember correctly, that is two blocks away from a stop." Her tiny lips smiled a bit and her fingers began to delicately fold the paper crisply into a square which could fit into her pocket. With the instruction to calling ahead of time, she nodded her head, knowing it would be quite rude to show up without making certain it was okay to visit.
Especially to watch 6 movies, as it sounded.
"Th-thank you," she offered softly before she managed to catch the voice of the lady who came to get the girls for their testing. It must have been time for them to take their next tests.
"Oh... um... good luck?" she shyly offered before standing herself up, tucking Tara's address into her pocket.

Two blocks, perfect! "I'll remember that," Tara promised, even though she knew that she probably wouldn't. "But yeah, we can-"
What they could do, Tara never really got to say. Grumbling a bit, she shoved her notebook back in her bag. "Good luck to you too," she replied, crossing her fingers. While she wasn't superstitious, it didn't hurt.
Even if the tests turned out to be a bust, now Tara had something about school to look forward to.
