spyroinc mine is like this oldes mc ---> newest mc then eis in alphabetical order then all my other items in rainbow idk how to take the picture because i'd have to zoom out so much you can berley tell which item is which
@chickineggz: Haha yeah... I usually take a screen shot every few months or so. I've been overdue for a while, but I also have better things to waste my time on. <.<;;; I'll get to it.. eventually. That's why I only did one page for this thread. x3 I have four pages of equipable items and I'd be lost if my items were arranged by set. How do you know where everything is? @ .@

I have no idea how I find any of my items.
In fact, during that temporary cig ban, I thought I had a cig. Then I looked for it so I could equip it and I couldn't find it. So I assumed I had sold it or given it away. Then two weeks later, I'm randomly trying to make a new outfit and I realize cigs are under accessories, and not items.

I organize by type of item, placing all of the same item in one place, and then by color within each type. I'm a hoarder so I'll have multiples of the same item in different colors and I want them all together. It looks abit like this:

¨*:·.♥.·:*¨I decided to copy + paste my equippable inventory just for fun.
The way I arrange my inventory is how I want it to show up in the Dress up screen. So I started with hats and went in the rainbow order. The only exception to this is with my Sweet and Dainty Porridge (and soon my Bitter wink ). Because they're my favorite items, I put them at the top of the "Items" tab. Multicolored (with no dominating color) are at the end. Honestly though I hate those items gonk Within the accessories tab, items are organized (or WERE organized) so that they were next to other like items (scarves with scarves, etc). The first time I organized this whole thing I had about 1.5 items and it took foreverrrrrrrrr as this was before the inventory arranger was fixed, and I had to refresh every time I moved an item, practically

I need to get more commons for my inventory. Most of the focus of my purchases have been EIs and MCs for too long. Commons should be the base of any good inventory. They are the base to our avatars.
It would be nice to get suggestions of items that are good to have.

That is what I am currently doing.
I only use commons on my avatars, because of it. <3

No thanks. All of anything is not my thing. Unless it was all eye/skin/wig/makeup items. But some of those are really expensive and I wouldn't really use them.
Same thing for all commons. Some I just wouldn't use. I just really need to be pointed in the direction of which would be useful and which wouldn't.

Well for me...whenever I'm making an avatar and I hit a brick wall, I make a mental note of why. If it's because gaia just doesn't have that color, I store the info away in hopes that eventually there is a match. Other times, it's because I just don't have much of that color in my inventory. After awhile, I think back to what color I get stuck on the most. A little while back, it was green. I realized that I didn't have one pair of green socks. Or you could go through your inventory, see what colors you have the least of, and find items of that color to fit in each tab.
ORRR you could go the opposite route and find items that match a lot of the colors you already have in your inventory. This way won't help with diversely colored avatars, but if you're just starting out matching that might not be too bad of a thing.

ynattirb had some very good advice. :3
Colors are a key element. Another element to keep in mind is the layering. ynattirb touched on that when she mentioned not owning green socks. That would put a big damper on outfits that use green. x .x;
So... I think there are certain items everyone should own, just because of the layers they equip on. The wool tops are amazing items. Own all of them. The traveller undershirts, baseball undershirts, and spacey body suit tops are all good to own too.
Leggings like the spacey leggings, snowy leggings, blade's leggings, and santa baby leggings are also must-have items. If you care about matching your skin tone, these sorts of items cover your legs. No skin showing on the legs equals no skin tone balance. Sooo you'd have to match the leggings to skin items (white, black, purple, green, etc). And if you don't care about matching skin tone, then no worries.
Own gloves. I won't even bother mentioning names. Just own gloves in every color available.
Own socks in every color available.
Own belts in all the colors you can get. They come in all sizes, shapes and layers so only buy belts you'd wear in your outfits. The black, white and red leather belts are good staples to keep around.
Own as many skirts as possible. The Snug skirts, Tennis skirts and Simple skirts cover a lot of the basics.
Own a set of gold items. Um, what I mean by set is just a combination of gold accessories that you can easily add to nearly every outfit. An example of a combo would be a gold egyptian anklet, gold pocket watch, gold genie arm bangle, gold hoop earrings and gold tiara. Just own enough gold accessories to be able to spread the color gold evenly around an avatar.
Own handhelds in as many shapes and colors as possible. Handhelds like canes can help you add color to your feet. Handhelds like bottles and books can help you add color to the midsection when gloves, a belt or a skirt just won't work. All canes are good to own. The galaxy grenades come in perfect colors. Kiserus and long drags don't hurt if you don't mind smoking paraphernalia. Sad but true, they add elegance to outfits.
I'm trying not to go on and on, but I've always found the glamrock heabands to come in handy.
Basically for each color, own enough items to be able to cover an avatar head to toe in that one color. Well, you know, just enough items to be able to spread that color evenly around an avatar.
Like for red you could do:
red headband, red vest, red pants
or red hat, red gloves, red capris, red shoes
or red glasses, red necklace, red belt, red socks
etc~
It would be even better to own a red headband, red hat, red necklace, red shirt, red vest, red gloves, red belt, red skirt, red capris, red socks and red shoes. That way you'd be well prepared to make outfits with red items. It'd be even better if you also own red bracelets, red hairpins, red legwarmers, red handhelds, etc~
Sooo same thing goes for every color you want to make outfits with.
