"No."
The reply came quickly and flatly, Yulu's voice a grunt as she tried to pull her soaking clothes from her body. The wraps had to come off her breasts, the water making them shrink against her frame cause some slight difficulty in breathing, so when she pulled the cream dress over her shoulders and started to snap it together, Yulu found that the bust was indeed a bit too small. The woman had never considered herself busty, Faranth knows she seldom looked at her body anyway unless she thought it for injuries, so when the top didn't fit right Yulu wondering just how skipped she actually was at binding.
"I don't think this fits me well. I'm going to have trouble breathing with it."
Yulu stepped out from behind the screen, the wet clothing in her arms. The dress clung to her frame, her curves showing despite having been hidden for so many years behind male clothing. Yulu would never admit that she could look good in woman's garb, and made it a point in her mind to consider herself dressing as a member of the opposite sex because of a lack of options.

Jada scowled at the other girl, nose wrinkling as she realized just how bound the other had been. "I don't think I have a bigger one, but if you like you can put on this jacket until I find something?"
How unfair was it that a woman who bound herself in like that had a bigger chest? The length fit right, at least, and Jada felt a slight catty satisfaction in realizing the girl had no bottom. Or was that a good thing? At least it fit in the waist.
"You should." she gave Yulu a slight smile. "You look nice."

"A jacket would probably not help, it would only increase the pressure on my chest. Do you have any knives around here? Anything sharp at all?"
It didn't take anyone with even a hint of smarts to know why Yulu wanted something. She was going to split the front of the dress open, to let in more air. The only downside is she would be letting more out as well, though by the rather impassive look on her face it was obvious she didn't care - breathing and comfort was more important than flashing the world.
"As for you saying I look nice, that must mean you like looking at men in dresses. I said before I'm not pretty and I will say it again, because things like this don't suit me at all. I am not made for the world you're going to be living in one day, I am more suited for the ground."

She gave a half-shocked laugh. "I've never seen a man with a chest like yours in a dress, but I'm sure it would be just as intriguing." A sharp object? ..... Jada finally handed over a small knife. "Please leave it intact enough to repair." was all she said, and gathered up the clothing Yulu would have to put down to take the knife.
"And what do you mean by the world I'm going to be living in?" the other girl looked amused. "A world of tossing dung and getting a workout on a dragon? Or the one- should I fail to Impress- where I work my hands with inks and wood and leathers, making instruments and playing them?"

"You're too pretty for something like that. At the very least you'll probably end up as someone's partner in their bed."
Yulu wasn't going to mash words, she knew this girl had a pretty enough face that someone would want to make her their mate. Bronzeriders liked to keep things with them that were very pretty, and this girl certainly was a looker if standards could be followed.
As for Yulu herself, as soon as the knife was in her hands she cut open the front of the dress, allowing for expansion. She didn't shred it beyond repair, as requested, but it was cut enough that it only served to show off her assets more than she had originally wanted.
Oh well, at least she could breathe.

"Pretty or not pretty, bed or no bed; if I'm not a dragonrider, I'll be a Harper, not a playmate." her voice was flat, the sweet smile almost making Yulu misheard the iron in the girl's tone. "After all, pretty faces fade in time and I'll need something to fall back on, won't I?"
MasterSingers like Jada intended to become were known for voices. A beautiful voice was worth more than a beautiful face any day- it lasted longer.
As the knife sliced neatly through the laces of the gown, Jada visibly winced. And then she turned beet red. "Yulu, you, umm... sliced it... umm..."

"You can't predict the future. If I'm not going to be a rider I'm going to be a Master Healer in the Trauma division, but that's all up in the air. All it takes is for one dragon to look and you an Impress, or another dragon to look at you and rend you asunder, like those Greens did at the last Impression. And no, pretty or not if you pop out enough children someone will see some worth in you. Women are only good for their faces and for the heirs they can produce, minus those women who become the Weyrwoman and the Juniors."
Yulu looked over as she finished adjusting the top, the blade held in her hand the same way a Healer would hold one of their tools while cutting into a body. It was so clear her hands were meant for something more than a paring knife, even something more than a brush to scrub a dragon. That...didn't mean Yulu didn't want to Impress, it just meant she had ambitions too. A dragon may hinder her, but not enough for her to not want to ride.
As Jada called her name and started to mention something about the top, Yulu frowned and looked down at what she'd done. Nothing seemed to be amiss....except for the fact that her breasts were barely being contained now. The top seemed to be holding on by mere threads and prayer, and Yulu's almost alabaster pale skin shown white against the cream coloring.
". . . .I fail to see a problem."
It wasn't like she was going to admit the mistake of cutting too much. Healers never overdid things, there was always a reason to the amount of whatever it was they were doing.

Red lips twitched. "Well, maybe I got water in your eyes too." the girl admitted. "Because I don't see a man in a dress anymore." Too bad she didn't know how to fix this issue.
"Well, I'll get these pinned up for you." she passed the girl over a jacket-top that had been a bit large on Jadamirei herself. "In the meantime, you can put this on in case you get... chilly." or uncomfortable with an ample, heaving bosom hanging out like a bad story.

Yulu chose to ignore the further comments about her not looking like a man anymore thanks to her chest, instead taking the tunic offered to her and setting it about her shoulders. She didn't cover her chest like Jada was probably expecting her to, as Yulu was feeling a bit smug and not wanting to conform to what this pretty-faced wanted her to do.
"Much obliged."
That was the closest Jada was going to get to Yulu saying 'thank you' or 'I'm sorry' from this point out, as the young woman had exhausted her sense of friendliness for the time being. As the other scuttled about to get her things in order Yulu took this time to look about Jada's barracks, unimpressed that nothing seemed to different from her own.
"Hm, I guess you're not getting any favors either then."

The incredulous snort was unladylike and downright rude. Jada turned a bright red with embarrassment, but trucked on. "I don't know what favors they would be giving to a Candidate." she said finally, hanging the damp clothing from a line by her bed put there in case of rain. "We're peons; we're here t learn, not be spoilt, as you well know."
Still, the quality of the instrument that could be seen peeking out from under her cot wasn't something she could afford on a Candidate's wage. Perhaps Yulu would recognize that, perhaps not; Jada didn't much care, though she loved the chance to chatter about her parents.

"You'd be surprised what you can get with a pretty face, be you Candidate or something beyond it. Just make sure you keep taking care of your looks or whatever else you have as a talent, because the Weyr is not kind to those it considers useless."
Yulu did indeed notice the nice instrument, though she didn't think of it in a way that Jada might have expected her to. Yulu simply didn't care, she wasn't interested in the affairs of others. At most after this was all over she might seek this girl back out to return her clothes, properly repaired, but that was it. There was no point for them to have any further relationship than this, seeing as Jada was neither Yulu's type for friendship nor possible companionship.
"So keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, but remember where you are. This is Telgar Weyr, were woman are seen as prizes for the grabbing at the very least. They are not meant to ride dragons other than Golds, and Faranth knows how long its been since one of those were on the sands."

Why did people always talk about her face? As if when someone was passably attractive they had to use it? It frustrated her, made her self-conscious! The annoyance was most likely clear on her face for a moment before she turned back to Yulu with a smile on her lips. "Well, I'm not here to be a prize, Yulu. And I have other skills that will serve me well if a dragon doesn't choose me." she shrugged lightly. "As soon as I get the clothing dried and washed, I'll bring it to you. Are you in the Candidate barracks as well?"
Gold dragons... they had two Senior goldriders right now, and the next to rise would be Weyrwoman. When would it happen? She could only imagine the concern among the senior riders, not having any formal leadership. The Weyrleader- would he remain leader? Or would another rider fly the young new Queen? So much to think about!

"My room is a bit further back, yours happened to be a bit closer. I never really minded the location of mine until I found out how troublesome it could be to get there in a hurry, so thanks for having a room so close up."
Yulu actually did sound slightly thankful for Jada's assistance, so she made sure to say so. She couldn't entirely be mean this whole time, even though her getting soaked was clearly Jada's fault.

Jada smiled. "Benefits to getting here a bit late, I guess." she shrugged. And as she opened her mouth, about to say something else, she heard the familiar stamping of feet followed by the summons to supper. "Well, I'm going to go to dinner." she glanced at Yulu, eyes sparking with mischief. "Care to join me?"

Yulu felt her stomach almost rumble in response, and she frowned as she looked down at her attire. The dress clung to her and made her look so feminine, her assets clearly showing for all to see, and wiggled a bit to adjust her top to not feel so outright falling. She would probably have to drape whatever it was Jada had given her over her shoulders for good measure, but that probably would make her stand out even more. It would just be in her best interest to somehow disguise herself for now and get it over with.
"....do you have anything I can cover my head with?"
Perhaps wearing a cover over her head may change how she looks, and even cover some of her face. It was worth a shot, and if Yulu was going to be girlie then she needed to go all out.
