Luckily for the both of them, Khalla wasn't particularly prone to brooding either. She smiled slightly at Gabbie, despite the fact that she didn't feel like doing so in the slightest, and tried to look as reassured as she could. Khalla didn't like to think about things she had no power to fix.
"Alright, alright," she waved a hand at Gabbie and brought her drink to her lips, sipping at the sweet concoction. As soon as the first of it touched her lips, she quickly decided she was no longer in the mood for it. It was already luke-warm from sitting in the cold and syrup-sweet lukewarm coffee was not very good. "Actually, I'm not in the mood for coffee so much anymore." With a sigh she just pushed her cup a little away from her, leaving it for the busboys to grab.
She was standing just as Gabbie began to stretch, tucking her coat more tightly around her body once more and fussing with a button. When Gabbie's comment reached her ears she managed a small laugh, her smile brightened a bit. "All you need is some good home-made soup, I'd bet. Gran always makes some for me when my throat hurts." Then again, this was a much different situation than the normal sore throat. She had found her shred of hope once more, regardless, and stood next to Gabbie with a smile clearly evident.
"To the museum, then?" she asked, holding out an arm to link with Gabbie's and hoping this walk would be much more pleasant than their last one.

"To the museum. And home-made soup, huh?" Gabbie considered this for a moment. Her cooking was passable, even with the likes of Alton Brown or Paula Dean to help her. But soup didn't sound too difficult. She'd have to try it.
Linking her arm through Khalla's she gave a decisive nod and a broad grin. Glancing down at the other girl, she couldn't help but tease a tiny bit.
"Just keep me from going too crazy in the gift shop though, okay? I know they got in a shipment of new stuff and I am a sucker for shiny s**t. In fact, you have my permission to sit on me if I start grabbing too much stuff to buy."

"I'll make you some," she offered in a way that didn't really leave much room for argument at all. She couldn't fix Gabbie's problems, but she could help her feel better at least physically. If there was one thing that Khalla knew how to do, it was stuff people full of food. Her grandmother was a good teacher.
Gabbie's next words did make her laugh though, even with the small curse thrown in. The image of her sitting on Gabbie as she tried to grab trinkets in the gift shop was an amusing one. "I promise I won't let you buy too much stuff." She quoted it back to her like it was some kind of girl scout promise, obviously in a more playful mood at this point.
With her spirits officially lifted, Khalla tugged Gabbie into a walk and headed for the museum. At least their day hadn't been completely ruined by bad spirits - there was a little fun left to be had!
