The scent coming from just out of her reach was tantalizingly sweet, and Demi's ears fell back as first she heard Allegro start laughing, then the human joined in. Just when she was ready to show the girl who was boss, she relented and set the cinnamon bun down for her, which the bobtail leaped upon instantly. Biting into it like prey that might escape or be taken from her, the girl wrapped both arms around the sticky bun, digging her claws into the soft pastry. For a moment, the little cat looked quite ridiculous, until she realized that the human girl, Sheryl, was still laughing at her. Releasing her 'prey,' Demi raised her icing-covered face and glared at Allegro, "And just what are you laughing at?" Feeling the heavy feeling of something stuck to her fur, the bobtail's tongue darted out to lap at the liquid sugar on her chest. A pause. Then more eager licking, partly to try and get it out desperately and partly to get more of the delicious stuff.

After her quick, impromptu bath, she raised gleaming bronze eyes to the Manx and smiled widely, "That's tasty!" Turning back to the cinnamon bun still sitting there, the girl gave a wag of her short tail and dove into it, the bell in her hair jingling happily as she ate. When most of it had been devoured, Demi fell back to her haunches and mewed a light pitch. "Wow, I've never had anything like that before," She purred contentedly, "It was very good!"

Once Sheryl set down the pair of confections both felines eagerly pounced on their respective bun.

Allegro stared at the pastry with gleaming, predatory eyes before jumping in and devouring the cinnamon bun. The sugar melting in his mouth, he contently sighed. He lifted his head to thankfully meow at the human who was always so kind to spoil him with the delicious baked goods. “Thank you, Sherly!” he called out, happily licking his lips.

He turned towards Demi, her coat painted with icing. The Manx bit back a laugh. Unlike the bobtail, he had much experience at eating sweets. His fur was clean and frosting-free. As she began to lick herself clean, Allegro stood up and padded over to her and helped finish the rest of the cleaning.

He mischievously grinned, once again licking his lips as he once more tasted the sugary icing. “You’re such a messy eater,” he teased before bouncing back to his bun and mirthfully returning to consuming the bun. Once done with devouring the food, he licked his lips, scrounging up the last of the sugary goodness of the treat.

“Really? That’s a shame. I like to come here often because Sheryl always likes to give me tasty food,” Allegro said with a grin. “You should come by here more often, then!”

Demi flicked an ear at the playful jab from the tom and scooped up some of the remaining frosting in her paw before swatting it at him, "Maybe it's more fun this way, you should join me." With a grin, the bobtail licked the remaining sticky icing from her paw and looked up at the humans who were still watching. Mewing her thanks as well, the girl got to her paws and stretched. "Ah, maybe I will come back sometime... it's good, but this stuff sits heavily in your stomach, doesn't it?" Grinning at Allegro, she moved towards the door, ready to leave the human place, "Tell me you eat something other than this sugary stuff all the time." Chuckling, the dappled she cat sat back on her haunches as soon as she was out of the shop, still teasing the Manx.

A wind blew suddenly, cutting right through her short fur and reminding the girl of her original purpose before getting sidetracked by the tom and food. The dark grey clouds that had been slowly gathering earlier were now completely covering the sky and thick enough to dim the sun, and the temperature had dropped significantly. Demi was sure the humans who lived in the building whose balcony she slept on would put out blankets for her and Natsuki, but she still worried about Allegro. "Hey, It's going to start snowing pretty soon... You have someplace warm to sleep, right?" The light tone was temporarily gone from her voice as she gazed at him seriously. Although she bore them no grudge, the Bobtail had very little faith in humans despite the omnipotent gifts left to her and the korat she shared her home with.

As she teasingly threw leftover frosting at him, Allegro turned his head away, his eyes squinting while he grinned and laughed. “Hey!” he protested, although not at all truly irked by it. Rather, he happily licked off the white dots of sugar off of his fur. The Manx thoroughly cleaned himself, savoring the last bits of sugar before it was completely gone. Only just finished, but he was already eager to eat another. However, he nodded at Demi’s words. “Admittedly, it is a lot to eat and I’m satisfied for many days to come,” Allegro jokingly answered.

He yawned, stretching while Sheryl lovingly scratched his ears. His eyes closed and he heard himself contently purr at the human’s touch. The woman giggled, affectionately scratching his back and began doing the same to Demi. “What a cute pair of kitties,” she remarked as she finally ceased her cuddling. “Of course! I love seafood. My owner would feed it to me all the time,” Allegro later added, his eyes growing cloudy and far off as he briefly reminisced his past.

The sting of a fierce, cold wind stirred him from his thoughts and he shivered from the gust. As he looked outside and up at the bleak clouds that blanketed the sky, Allegro had to agree with Demi’s weather prediction. He stepped next to her, shrugging. “I go wherever. My owner doesn’t come home often, so I’m pretty much an outdoors cat now.” Then he reassuringly smiled at her. “But don’t worry. I’ll be fine. I’ve managed on my own for a long time now.

Catching his shiver, Demi grinned and leaned into him as he came to stand by her, the fur on her shoulder brushing his and lending him some of her warmth. "You say that with confidence, but it is pretty cold. Your fur doesn't seem to be as thick as mine either." With a matter-of-fact tone to her voice, the bobtail glanced up at the dark, cloudy sky, "I think I'd like to have seafood with you some time... but I can't really do that if you freeze to death or get really sick or something." With an air of aloofness, the girl tilted one ear back and watched the clouds slowly billow and move across the sky as if she were considering something. Eventually, she let her gaze slide down to the Manx tom's face and gave him a small grin before getting to her paws and moving around to stand in front of him. One hand found its way to her hip and the other reached up to scratch lightly behind one of her ears as Demi addressed him, "I live outside with another cat, but I know the humans who live nearby will have left something out for us. My home is sure to be warm... so if you need to, I won't mind sharing. Natsuki won't either, she's a pretty sweet kid."

It wasn't the first time she had opened her home to another, and also not the first time she invited a male to come home with her. And yet, Demi found herself feeling awkwardly uncertain about this decision. True enough, it was bound to be a cold night and she was honestly worried about any cat freezing to death. But more than that, an urge to repay this Manx for the free meal, regardless of how good it necessarily was for her, nagged at her mind. Stranger still, Demi had taken and accepted countless free meals in the past without feeling any sort of compelling need to offer something in exchange. Even so, she stood before Allegro with a small grin on her face, inviting him to come home with her; feeling that a warm place to stay would be adequate as a 'thank you' and hoping it would satisfy the strange feeling tugging at her mind.

Allegro playfully stuck his tongue out at her in childish retaliation; a grin pulling his lips. However, Demi brought up a good point. Her long, soft fur seemed much thicker than his short fur. It was true that the kitten had spent countless nights outside in the biting cold, but would it be wrong to turn down an opportunity at warmth for this one night? The idea of staying with Demi and her companion seemed rude and intruding. He pursed his lips and mulled it over. On the other hand, she had offered. Did that make it okay now? He hoped so.

What you say is true,” he replied after a moment of thought, absent-mindedly pulling out a stray piece of frosting from her hair, laughing at her remark about his possible death or illness. “But don’t doubt my strength, Miss Demi.” He smirked. “I’m more hardy than I appear; however, spending the night in your company sounds absolutely delightful. Besides, it’d be a pleasure to meet this friend of yours. She sounds worth meeting.

His grin widened into a beam, vaguely wondering when was the last time he had socialized with another cat like this. The feeling was peaceful, calming, and somehow the fact that it was Demi made the whole situation even sweeter. Perhaps it was because she was Allegro’s first real friend in a while? That must be the reason because he could not think of any other.

Allegro slipped his hand into hers, the grip feeling warm and natural. “So, why don’t you lead the way, hm?” He gestured with his free arm.

Demi flicked her ear as he removed some frosting she had missed over, and she grinned at his self defense. "Heh, I'm sure you're capable of handling yourself. You've lasted this long after all," She laughed lightly, "Having a warm place to wait out the weather is good too though, come on~!" As he grabbed her hand, the bobtail giggled and gave a light tug, taking the lead without needing to be told. "I hope your legs work well enough, it takes a bit of skill to get there." Winking at the tom, Demi grinned confidently. Even if the Manx couldn't make the last leap to the balcony, she would help him out for sure. Her little tail wagged as she thought about it excitedly, certain that Natsuki would like him too. The girl seemed amused by tail-less cats to begin with.

Hand-in-hand, the two cats slipped smoothly away from the rows of shops and wound their way to a nearby apartment complex. Here, she paused and glanced up with a gleam in her eyes. Directly above them, on the third floor of the complex, the bobtail's bronze-colored eyes locked onto a dark balcony. "We're here! Home sweet home, right?" She laughed and tugged on his arm again, "Come on, the way up is over here!" Having someone over was beginning to feel exciting for the girl, a bright smile claiming her face as she led Allegro around to the fire escape in the alley. Scaling the metal staircase as far as she needed, she leaped onto the railing facing the building and jumped from there to the narrow ledge running the length of the wall. Paws carefully placed one in front of the other and short tail standing straight up behind her, the dappled cat turned to smile at Allegro. "This way, don't fall, okay? It's just around the corner here!" A stiff, cold wind brushed her thick brown fur as she turned and made her way along the ledge, pausing at the corner to wait for him before gathering her legs beneath her and lunging around it. Just on the other side, the wall of the balcony loomed, and Demi scrambled up on top of it, turning to wait for her friend.

Behind her, a heavy blanket, situated under a piece of wood stretching across the seats of two chairs, stirred and a dark-haired girl poked her head out of it curiously. "Demi...?" The grey cat mewed, wiggling her way out of the blanket to join her friend and guardian on the balcony's ledge, "What are you doing?" Blinking, Natsuki turned bright green eyes to the corner of the building, their path home.

Indeed, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to curl up in a cozy house. Being able to stay at your place for the moment would be a nice change of pace,” he admitted with a slow nod of his head. Not only would he be able to sleep in comfort for once, Allegro would also have other cats to speak with as he lulled to sleep. Sure, he met lots of felines during the day, but then night would swoop in. They would return to whatever shelter they had while the manx would trudge back to the empty apartment that was his home. Should be his home. Each day he would plop down in front of the door and wait for sleep to overtake him.

He felt Demi tug at his arm and he reflexively tightened his grasp on her hands so as not to slip away from her hold. Allegro laughed, completely undaunted by her warning. Work? Of course his legs worked! He may still be a collared cat, but he was also an outdoors cat as well. “And why wouldn’t they?” he answered in a teasing voice.

Shops turned into apartment buildings and she slowed to a halt before lifting her head. He too, raised his gaze to stare at the third floor of an apartment complex. Allegro smiled. “Looks lovely,” he remarked in a soft voice. They scaled up a staircase and jumped onto a railing, then to a ledge. “What an adventurous way to get here, don’t you think?” he mused with a laugh before arriving at the final jump. A pause and then a grin before he bent his legs and sprung forward, grabbing the edge and hoisting himself up with ease. “Wasn’t too hard.

He heard a voice and leaned to the side, spotting a young girl. Allegro courteously smiled and waved. “Good evening, Miss.

Demi watched with interest as the Manx followed her lead with little trouble. When he made the final leap onto the balcony wall, she sat back on her haunches and raised a finger to her chin with a grin. "A little adventure is fun, isn't it? Even so, I'm impressed that you made it up here without help." With an inward chuckle, the dappled she cat was reminded of the foreign bobtail she had brought home before and how hard it was to get him onto the balcony.

Natsuki, sitting at Demi's side, lifted her ears with equal interest as the calico-patterned tom pulled himself over the top of the balcony wall to join them. She smiled brightly when he greeted her and bounced up to him, instantly forgetting about the impending snow for the moment. "Good evening yourself!" she chirped lightly, sweeping her eyes up and down his form admirably, "Wow, you really don't look like much, but it's pretty amazing that you were able to pull that off the first time around. Even I nearly missed the jump a couple times at first! It would be a scary fall for sure!" The young girl wagged her long, thin gray tail excitedly as she talked to the tom, and Demi giggled behind her before moving over to rearrange the blanket under their makeshift roof.

"Ah, it's just as I thought... They left out a pretty nice blanket this time, didn't they Natsu-chan?" the bobtail mused lightly to her younger friend, then nodded at Allegro, "This is Natsuki, she's the girl who lives with me, just in case you hadn't figured it out already." Teasingly, she let the tip of her tongue poke out between her grinning lips before turning back to her work, "Natsuki, this guy's Allegro. He's got a thin pelt like you do, so I invited him to stay with us tonight. It'll be a little snug, but in weather like this, that's probably for the best." Tilting her ears back slightly, Demi's short tail gave a wag amongst the fluff of her short black skirt.

"Allegro, huh? What an interesting name!" The younger Korat smiled and grabbed the tom's hand, "Demi-nee is so nice! She's always bringing cats home if they don't have anywhere else to go! Ah! You must hate the snow like I do, huh? The blanket that the humans left out for us is nice and warm though! I already tested it out!" With light laughter, the kit pulled the Manx over before letting him go and diving into the heavy blanket, swiftly burrowing into the folds to get comfortable and warm again before the flakes began falling. Demi waited for the younger girl to get comfortable before climbing in after and curling up next to her so that their pelts brushed against one another. "Eh, just make yourself at home, I suppose!" She grinned up at Allegro, already feeling warmed from the blanket around them. It was the blanket, right? Either way, she felt instantly more comfortable in the safety of her home.
