“I’m bad with that “no” thing too”, admitted Alessa before looking at her wristwatch. She looked very surprised. “Whoa, it’s getting late already. Gotta go!”
She left her seat and put on her bag in a hurry. “I’m sorry, I’ll miss the bus if I stay much longer! I’m gonna miss it if I don’t run…”
Alessa would have wanted to stay and talk a little longer, but she had a love-hate relationship with public transports. She didn’t want to stay unnecessarily long in the cold.
“Enjoy the cookies! If we don’t see each other again before, well, see you at school! Remember: you’re from Summerfield High School, Hepaunville.” Already trotting towards the exit, she turned briefly to wave at Remi. “Take care! Oooh nooo I’m gonna miss iiiiit…”
Her fast and panicky voice fading into a sigh indicated she couldn’t possibly have made up an excuse. She didn't leave much of a chance for her new friend to interrupt her, either.
