TheGoatZodiac Wow, that was alot of amazing information. I knew enough about the food, clothing and kites (Edit: and the wishes as well), but I didn't know about the game. And you even gave a good recipe for mochi (I like kiwi filling alot on mine).
But what about the mooncakes? I could of sworn they were made for the New Year as well (or is that China? Sometime I mix up asian traditions sweatdrop ) I'll look into that! Thanks! I'll totally add more info if you guys find it! Please share!

Oh wow! Thank you SO much for posting this gorgeous new years information! So nostalgic!!!!
It made me want to sing the New Years song!!!!
もういくつねると、お正月。 お正月には凧あげてこまをまわして遊びましょう! 早く来い来い、お正月!!
How much longer do I have to sleep until New Years Day? On New Years Day, let's play by flying kites and spinning tops! Hurry and come, come New Years Day!
Ahh, I love that song! Too bad I don't get お年玉(New Years money?)! I'm too old haha. My father only gave me ¥10000! I really like New Years Day because it's kind of like Christmas in America! Ahh...Christmas makes me think of Kentucky Fried Chicken....
Oh and TheGoatZodiac! I think moon pie is Chinese! I never eaten one sad I googled the picture, but I can't remember it! Is it an Okinawa thing, maybe?

So I looked into it and moon cakes are in fact Chinese. But they are a new year tradition there. They're also REALLY pretty! Now I know what I saw at the Asian market today!

My~ How fabulous! I knew about the temple visit and stuff, but not about the badmiton game. I mean I saw it in manga before but didn't really get it. LOL. And that mochi recipe looks great. I was actually planning on making some, but we ran out of mochiko and the store was closed, so I'll hopefully make a trip tomorrow to create a make up batch.

I should've known they weren't japanese. Lucky! I'm so far away from the Asian market in my city that I never get to go there anymore (or to the comic store close to it) cry Edit: thanks for grabbing water angel ^o^

Water_Angel08 XD The Kitkat chocolate bag looks so cool in Japanese! FYI: KitKats come in a variety of horrifying flavors in Japan! Including, but not limited to: Wasabi, soy sauce, and miso. However, they also have delicious sounding flavors like blueberry and strawberry!

I studied about their Dominoes Pizza flavors in international business class - mayo with squid instead of tomato and meat. XD Ah their combos are so interesting!
And you're right, the fruit flavored ones do sound good.

And you're right, the fruit flavored ones do sound good. They seem to like mayo. A lot. Like, I enjoy putting mayo on things but there's a point where it's too much or it shouldn't go on. They seem to have missed some of those points. Like pizza.

They seem to have missed some of those points. Like pizza. Ha, seriously. But I guess it's part of their culture - they do like combining certain things to make unique flavors. Hence foods/meals with multiple options. I do like how they sometimes put mayo on okunamiyaki. Ahhhh that stuff is soo gooood... >_<; I wish the Japanese restaurants down here would make traditional food like that instead of teriyaki chicken with California rolls. Too Americanized. Too unauthentic. =_=;
