"I am Nami and that is Ahazijaar." the female dragon told her, pointing at Hazij with one claw. "Who is your other parent, little one?" she asked softly, floating over towards Hazij, who had leaned down a bit so as to see Layla better.

"She's a siren, I dun know her name yet," Layla admitted, looking up at Ahazijaar with a shy smile and a wave. "I have a shark tail sometimes, and horns and claws and sharp pointy teeth!" she bragged, pointing at them. "And Papa makes me wear clothes, cuz there's lots of snow out there, but we gotta find special shirts for my wings to fit."
She was a font of information, too.

Nami laughed, "That would be Hvyette. She is a very fine lady. You are sure to be supremely beautiful when you grow up then. Though you're already quite cute." the dragon cooed, setting Layla down in front of her papa for a few.
"I will let you two talk for a while. If you need me, just call." Nami cooed, flying up to relax and wrap around some of the floating trees.
Hazij peered at the child for a bit. "Hello."

"Hi," she said, grinning up at him. "Ahiz--Ahaaa--" She frowned, trying to pronounce his rather long name. "Papa!" she said finally. "My name's Layla," she repeated, cocking her head at him. "You're really, really big," she said suddenly. "Am I gonna get that big?"

"Probably not. The dominant natures of humanoids say you will not end up very large. Your body wouldn't support it." he grumbled, standing and heading into the cave, motioning with his tail for her to follow.
Stretching himself comfortably on the mounds of gold, he looked down at Layla. "Tell me, small one, what do you do?"

She followed him in, dropping onto the gold in front of him, then making a face and scooching her bottom around to make an indent. "Ummm... I swim, and explore, and go places, and color. I got coloring books now! And we live on a boat!" she said. "So I can look out at the water any time I want. And Papa says when it's warmer I'll be able to swim any time I want!"
She leaned back on her hands. "And I'm learnin' to read!" she added. Obviously, to her, life was pretty good.

Hazij nodded a bit, face somewhat distasteful, not that that looked much different from normal. "And what do you read, small one?"

"Just little kid books," she admitted, looking at him thoughtfully. "Why do you not like my other Papa?" she asked, going to the heart of the matter. "He's real nice to me. He's never yelled or anything, even if he did make a funny noise when I tugged his hair once."

"Your father is not a very nice person when it comes to my kind - our kind." he sniffed. "Do you see this scar upon my back?" he said, indicating a large thick bulge of skin where the scales were scattered due to it.
"Your father is the one who gave me it."

She blinked, her eyes widening at the sight. "I'm sorry," she said. "Did you and him fight over something?"

"You could say that." Hazij laughed, voice rumbling very loudly. "You be wary of that man. "
Now, as you are a child of mine, you should have a proper treasure hoard." he stated seriously. "Take a bit from that pile you're on to take home with you."

She nodded, only looking at the gold, though, a pout on her lips. "But... but Papa loves me," she said, looking up at Hazij with gleaming black eyes. "I'm sorry he hurt you. But he wouldn't hurt me." She knew it with every ounce of her tiny being. "You're big and strong and can fight back. I'm just little. And he loves me," she repeated.
Then she started making a pile of the gold, drawn to it by her very nature. "Thank you," she added.

"That does not mean you should not be wary of him. Do you remember sweet Nami out there? He has killed some of her kind as well. She would not hate him for it but he is not a kind creature. He may not hurt you as his child but do not think for a moment he is at all good." Hazij growled coldly. He didn't care for the dragoness, but it was well known among his kind that any who would harm a luck dragon was not to be trusted.

"Like--like Nami?" she asked, obviously stunned by that statement. "I um..." She went back to piling coins, taking off her coat to put them in it. "I don't know," she said. "I don't..."
She bundled up the coat, standing. "I should go."

"Yes. And try to read some proper books." Hazij grumped. He had other things to think of. The ladies had proposed something he was not completely happy with but he needed to think about it.
