Once Dante was certain the woman didn't intend on squishing them to death she relaxed a bit, leaning back against her oh-so wonderful aunt. Ana was usually prone to hugging them but nothing like what that woman would do to them. Ana's hug were hugs of affection...Abigail's hugs were hugs of death. It was simple as that. Dante had almost nodded off until the ruckus started up again. This time not from Abigail but rather from their mother. Peeking out from the coat, she caught sight of the waving papers before wincing and scooting back. She had a bad feeling about this. Especially since those papers sounded oddly familiar. A little too familiar. "Auntie? Can we go please..." Dante's voice was quite frankly the most pitiful thing one could hear. Especially in this situation. If those were the papers she thought they were then she was going to be in just as much trouble as Luci...if not more. After all, she had been hanging around her father's office when those papers had surfaced. Yep, she was going to be in serious trouble if she got found out.
A quirk of the eyebrow was Ana's only response to Dante's plea. Upon until those two...children started bickering the girl had been perfectly content to sit and curl up against her. Now? Now she was all itchy and wanting to run. Guilt perhaps? One look down at the angelic, almost too angelic face was all Ana needed to know. Dante no doubt had something to do with the papers, what she wasn't sure but she wasn't about to out the girl either. Instead she ground her teeth and nearly growled. If this fighting kept up she was going to have to snap at them both. Captain and Lieutenant or not.
The glare was returned as he rose, leaving his violin case propped on one of the tree roots. His ribs hurt somewhat from the hug attack but that didn't mean he was about to have his reputation practically murdered over a few papers that he was pretty sure he'd signed and dealt with last month. She was ranting and he was calmly dusting the powdered snow from his coat and pants, glad for the moment to have been sitting mostly on the oil slick coat and a couple blankets. Oh he'd been content to lazy around on most days, but after the pile of papers had threatened to bury him, he'd spent two days signing them. And if there was anyone to vouch for him on that was Twilight. One glance at the bemused wolf and he rolled his eyes, arms crossed as his attention returned to Calla before it shifted to...Emi. This was the little brat that had brought all this unnecessary hell upon him. But she'd be dealt with later. For now he had bigger problems to worry about. "First and foremost, Lieutenant. I am pretty sure I signed all those papers. Except for the one concerning the couch that was sent by Abigail, which I purposely didn't sign." A murmur from Twilight was a mild agreement as he felt the wolf rise and stretch. "Furthermore several copies of those papers were made and may I add hand delivered to the Council last month." He wasn't about to add that, two of those council members were family members of his. Family members that he had been more than happy to flaunt his newest position in their faces.
Now that Calla had been dealt with his annoyed gaze swung to Emi. He could make her life a living hell here now or he could always dismiss her. And right about now, he would dismiss her. Oh no, he'd have her head again later but right now he had other things to worry about. "Thank you, Private Cross you're dismissed." Emi wasn't welcome as far as he was concerned right now. Hell none of them were welcome but he wasn't about to say that. He didn't want to drag more hell upon himself right now.
Back arching under the pile of blankets, Twilight shook them off before moving closer to her bonded, though she did acknowledge her yawning mate. Isn't it obvious? Paperwork. There was something of a snort from the alpha as she eyed Calla and Emi before her head dipped a fraction of an inch, ears perked forward. Twilight didn't often chew out any member of the pack, even if they didn't grovel before her. She wasn't focusing on the wolves right now, her gaze was on the humans. Wolves were easy enough to deal with. She may be small for an alpha but she was still as vicious and ruthles sas any of the previous ones had been. WoodWhisp...love, would you please tell Calla that I personally made certain Alister dealt with that particular set of papers. Her gaze didn't stray from Calla.

Lucifer had been quite content to snuggle down deep in Aunti's nice warm coat until this particular storm blew over. Or they could sneak away, it was always so much easier to sneak away when their parents were distracted, and this seemed to be a very good distraction. And that was when he heard his father attempting to pull rank, and he knew this was going to go south a whole lot faster. Had he paid more attention the look on his sister's face and the tone of her voice would have told him that she had something to do with this, but at the moment he was more concerned with how fast they could get away before they got pulled into it. "Yeah Auntie, my clothes are getting sokeda." Of course that was a total lie, considering he was in Ana's lap and well out of the snow, but they had already been wet when he had gotten scooped into her lap so it wasn't that far of a stretch.
Calla was quite busy completely ignoring any sort of defense or protest Alister had to say. His attempts to save his reputation meant nothing to her, he'd have to take that up with the rest of the fort. She had more important things to deal with than his damaged pride anyway, like getting Lucifer properly dressed so he wouldn't catch a cold. He was only six after all, sure he was a particularly touch six year old, but he was still six and not that immune to the cold weather. "Ana dear, would you be so kind as to get him dressed? He's going to get sick out here dressed like that." Calla smiled to the woman who was already hunched over the kids to keep them warm. As much as keeping track of the kids took up her time already, it only got worse when they were sick. Whenever the two got sick she got nothing done, and it always seemed like the two got sick at exactly the same time, almost as if they'd planned it. Content with her orders she turned her attention back to Alister, at exactly the wrong moment. All she heard of his sentence was one word, Lieutenant. And that was all it took. The already soaked and damaged papers fell to the ground forgotten, and by the time they hit the ground Calla already had one hand clenched around Alister's collar and the other had retrieved her dagger from the inside of her jacket and pressed the sharp point lightly into the blonds chest. "You want to say that again Alister?" She hissed, spitting his name like poison. Where she had been angry before, her expression had turned down right deadly at those simply words. She would never call him Captain, he was Captain in name alone as far as she was concerned, as often as he shoved the work off on her. And she had already made it clear repeatedly that it was not in his best interest to try and pull rank on her, not under any circumstances. And certainly not when she had already been angry enough to want to hurt him.
WoodWhisp was more than happy to occupy the blankets his mate had just left. Settling down in the nest and fighting back another yawn he glanced lazily between his Bonded and Alister. I'm pretty sure she already knows, she's just looking for a reason to yell at him this morning. WoodWhisp lay his head down on his paws and fought off the urge to go back to sleep. He had been feeling particularly lazy the past few weeks and waking up this early was something he wasn't used to any more. He knew he was going to regret these indulgences when summer came and he would have to be alert and prepared at all hours of the day and night. Bloody centipedes didn't seem to understand the concept of sleep. Suddenly his train of thought was interrupted by the sound of an angry Calla with a sharp object. Was this not common place WoodWhisp might have grown concerned, but Calla had no intent of killing him today, that would only mean more paperwork for her and that was something she did not feel like dealing with. She won't kill him love. WoodWhisp knew Twilight was quite protective of her Bonded, She's just putting him back in his place. They're like a couple of unruly children. Makes it obvious where Luci and Dani get it from. WoodWhisp flicked an ear at the whole situation and decided that maybe he didn't feel like fighting off sleep after all…

The apprentice returned Calla’s smile when her hand no longer held onto the papers. Keeping a small smile drawn on her face, her eyes traveled from lieutenant to captain and back. It was a bit obvious that the lieutenant was purposely doing what she was. Then again, she was usually doing so. She was out to ruin his reputation and Emi was pretty sure it would be a while before she stopped trying. All the more reason for her to want a new captain and lieutenant in a few years. But she wasn’t going to say that out loud at the moment.
At the same moment, Abigail decided to show her lazy butt around the place. With her came her bear hugs. As usual, it seemed like her favorite male, Alister, was the first target. It was probably because they were cousins. However, she wasn’t supposed to know that and she wasn’t going to provoke the golden haired male even more then she had probably already had. Then the female turned her attention to the six year old siblings after more than likely inflicting some bruises onto Twilight’s bonded. Hopefully she would be able to get out of her life killing hug. The female teenager just stared lightly at her Patron when Abigail came up to them. “Morning Abigail,” she said to the mess of a private. Never had she called Abigail anything other. Well, except for maybe Abi when she was half asleep. Then again, the blond mess had gotten on her before about being too polite. She didn’t like it. It might have been because of Abigail that Emi herself was not as polite as she would have been before. It’s also probably because of her Patron that she was, more than likely, getting on Alister’s nerves.
FlameFrost had been keeping an eye on his bonded the whole time. The girl could get herself into a lot of trouble without even knowing it sometimes. Frankly, he just wanted to hide from the whole situation. He had already known that she didn’t think that highly of Alister but that was Abigail’s fault mostly. At the moment though, he was slightly scared because Twilight was probably going to be able to pick up on that particular feeling and worse, would tell the captain. But his tangled up thoughts were broken when a light blue and white female wolf came up to him and the Alpha. Good morning, Hailwing, he said respectively. Hailwing was like the complete opposite of her bonded who just so happened to be Abigail. She wasn’t going to let him get away with acting as relaxed as Emi. The next wolf to come up to them was the other Alpha, Woodwhisp. Greetings Woodwhisp. Due to the fact that Woodwhisp never really acted like an Alpha, Flame was a bit more loose around the male. He then returned his attention towards the humans.
While the blood red wolf was busy greeting the arriving wolves, Emi was listening to Calla rambling off about the soggy papers she had just retrived from the apprentice. It seemed that they were papers from last month. Well that wasn’t too good. Report to the council, the population count and the expected increases in number of new apprentices, list of personal orders and of course the couch request. Of course the female couldn’t help but grin at the last one. It was the request that Abigail had put in to get a new couch. How she knew? That was easy, her Patron had told her about it.
The sound of Alister standing up caught her attention. Turning her head, Emi caught the captain’s gaze. He was obviously unhappy, and it was probably her fault. She was more than sure of it when he spoke first to Calla, then swung his attention to her. It had already sunk into her that the guy had just called [i[Calla lieutenant, which was not a smart idea. The brown haired female made it obvious everyday that she didn’t like him pulling rank on her. To her, his place as captain was only in name and in name only. Knowing this, Emi smirked lightly at Alister. She was about to reply to being dismissed but never got the chance to as Calla had her hand grabbing his collar and her dagger out against his chest.
FlameFrost on the other hand wanted nothing more than to get his partner away from Alister. It was clear that he was protective of her. He had been since the beginning. Stepping forward, he was about to pull the girl back when Calla’s actions caught his attention. With slightly wide eyes, the fire and ice colored wolf started to edge forward, closer to Emi.
“Um, Lieutenant, I don’t think hurting the Captain will do most of any good,” she said, making sure she wasn’t close enough for Alister to strike out of her. That would be rather unpleasant. As much fun as she had watching the events going down, the apprentice knew that it wouldn’t be good to have an angry Twilight. She wasn’t stupid enough to sit around and wait for that.

Hearing that she was practically family from Calla was comforting, though at the moment she didn't have any need to be comforted. It was just nice knowing that she was thought of well. "Aw, shucks, I's jus' tryin' ta be polite," she answered, forgetting any intention to hug, though the want was still there. The woman was just so full of love. Or sadism. There was no telling which it was. Abigail always looked pleased, but where she derived that sense of satisfaction was a mystery to everyone but herself. Strike that. Even she didn't know why she was so bloody happy all of the time, but it beat being a self-centered, emotional, uptight, moody, unsociable...
HailWing glared at Abigail. You can stop that now.
Abigail looked back at HailWing and smiled nervously, rubbing the back of her head. At about that time, she came to attention just in time to see Calla brandishing a few papers at Alister like they were some vile thing. Abigail didn't pretend to love paperwork, but the contempt the two seemed to be showing for it went well beyond the trouble it took to read and sign in a few places. Maybe Abigail just didn't understand the mass of paperwork they had to do and maybe they were just trying to find something to argue about. Either way, Abigail wasn't about to get in the middle of it.
Well, she wasn't... until her couch came up as a topic of conversation. Calla had just sort of mentioned it offhandedly while looking at one of the pieces of paper, which wasn't surprising. It was a pretty large thing to expect to get to here from the city or the farms. It had only been a test to see what she could actually get in the first place. It seemed that was where they drew the line, though, since Alister purposely let it go unsigned. "So that's why Ah never got no confirmation," Abigail mumbled to herself.
Her words went mostly unnoticed in favor of one of Calla's reportedly many death threats. True, Abigail had witnessed many "altercations" between the two, but it never stopped being terrifying to see. Maybe neither took them seriously, but it was all fun and games until someone lost an eye. Even Emi knew that much. To convey this information, she even went so far as advising Calla against it. Wait, what? Abigail's eyes widened. It was up to her to punish Emi before Alister or Calla got the chance to. Not only had she disobeyed a direct order, she was trying to order them around.
Abigail gave Emi one of those You're-so-stupid-and-seriously-if-you're-getting-this-look-from-me-you-really-must-be-stupid looks and openly yelled, "Are ya outta yer cotton' pickin' mind?"
HailWing stayed to the side and away from the action which could only lead to certain doom. She didn't care much about the humans and whatever they were doing, but FlameFrost was being awfully friendly with an Alpha. Well, that settled it. All of her hard work had gone to waste. FlameFrost was going to get seriously mutilated right now. If not by WoodWhisp, then by Twilight. Surely, they must realize that if they're lenient with even just one wolf, others (the obviously less smart ones) were going to take that as an opportunity to ignore rank. Flame was about to lose an arm or an eye and be completely useless in battle, therefore making the entire half a year's work a complete waste. HailWing prayed to whatever deity was out there that her next apprentice wasn't so stupid.

Only one answer came to mind when Abigail asked if she was out of her mind. Yes, yes she was. Sadly, even she didn’t know why. At the moment only one thing was caught in the nets of her mind, her past self was catching up with her. That completely disrespectful, violent and lonely girl who she used to be was catching up with her at the moment. Not to mention it was killing her inside. She had never wanted to turn an eye back towards the past, but somehow, it didn’t matter what she wanted. Then again, it had never really matter.
FlameFrost himself was freaking out at Emi’s attitude. Sure, he had slacked with his attitude but it was nothing close to what she was doing. Turning around he bowed his head down towards the Alpha pair. I’m so sorry. I don’t know why she’s acting this way, he said. His voice clearly showed that he was truly sorry and the high respect that should have been there a few moments ago was actually there that time. Turning around, he growled lightly before placing a paw on his partner’s back. Before she could say anything he pushed her to the ground and bowed his head towards the captain and lieutenant.
All the apprentice’s thoughts were scattered when she found herself face first in the snow. Lifting her head out of the snow she started to speak. “I’m screwed aren’t I?” she asked. In reply, she earned herself a growl from the red and white wolf. Like hell you are, he snapped at her. That sure wasn’t good because he never said hell unless he was angry. With a groan the female curled her arms up and placed her forehead on them just barely keeping her face out of the snow. She finally felt like crying. After all those years at the Academy and it was now that she felt like crying. I’m pathetic, she thought, startling Flame a bit.

Dante was more than a little gleeful when she felt her aunt scoop both she and her brother up. While she wasn't exactly happy with the turn of events, she was actually glad to be getting out of the line of fire. There was a little reassurance that her parents wouldn't kill each other but it never put her at any more ease. Sighing she turned her face into her aunt's side barely listening to the vicious tirade coming from near by. They wouldn't kill each other, she knew that much. As for the young woman that had been practically smothered by her wolf, well that would remain to be seen. Somewhere in the back of her mind, a wicked little voice was wishing the girl much pain and suffering. Really she deserved it. The thought made the girl squeeze her aunt's hand tighter but she kept silent. If the older girl was a complete and utter idiot then if she got shot that was her own fault.
Ana wouldn't have moved, not all the centipedes in the world would have made her move if it wasn't for the fact that the children had both started pleading and her own bonded's head rose from where it rested against her back, a rumbling question drifting through her mind. Oh she would leave. Not because Calla had asked her to. But because she didn't want to have to deal with this foolish foolish battle. Paperwork was one thing yes, pulling rank was another. But as it stood, she couldn't exactly blame her cousin. In truth he outranked all the other riders present. Calla included. Letting a ragged breath slide from her lungs she set Lucifer against one hip, letting Dante walk next to her. Back stiff as she set first Lucifer and then Dante on Shadowsong's back, Ana slid into a stiff practiced salute. "As you wish, Lieutenant...Captain.' Nodding curtly she moved away from the bickering group not at all pleased. Her bonded knew she wanted to rip at them both but she wouldn't. Oh no, not with the children present. That damned little apprentice included. Speaking of which, blue-green eyes turned venomous as she settled her gaze on the girl. It was a good thing the red and white wolf had tried to subdue her. It really was because heavens knew Alister wasn't the only trigger happy one in the family.
He'd figured Calla would be at his throat for pulling rank but to be honest he could care less. The woman knew all too well that while she only considered him as the captain in name alone, he still outranked her. Whether she liked it or not. A sad fact, one that he hadn't decided purposely. Alas it wasn't his fault that Twilight was more dominant and vicious than WoodWhisp ever cared to be. Staring Calla down, he glanced at the dagger briefly before a wiry and grim smile crossed his lips. "I dare say you heard exactly what I said Lieutenant. And while you and apparently that insolent little brat over there consider me captain only in name, that was not decided by me. If it was I would gladly step down and hand such matters over to you. As it stands it isn't." How many times had he been this close to being killed by the woman? A hundred times perhaps more he didn't know and didn't care. True he dodged paperwork like the plague but who didn't? The damn thing was a plague on anyone's soul. A quiet rumbling as the black wolf brushed past him, he merely nodded at the passing of his bonded. He wouldn't have to lift a finger to deal with Emi. Oh no, he didn't even have to look at the girl. Twilight would deal with her, while he dealt with Calla. Not an easy feat but something that would prove to be amusing none-the-less.
"Do tell me Calla? How many times have you lashed out at me for this? A hundred times? Maybe even a thousand? You need to make up your mind whether or not you want to kill me, maim me or just try to scare me because I'm afraid I must tell you, the latter isn't exactly working." His voice had dropped a notch, though as annoyed as he was with Emi and Abigail for not teaching the girl any better for that matter, he really did find this amusing. The first couple of times he'd gotten shot, he had actually been worried that the woman was really out to kill him but now, he wasn't so worried. Calla's only aim was to ruin his reputation as captain as well as she could, and from the way Emi was behaving it was clear that her mission was succeeding. It didn't sit well with him but he didn't even bother arguing or even acknowleding the girl. She'd be dealt with once this was all said and done. Perhaps a night watch would teach her to keep her mouth shut. Shove Abigail along with the girl just for good measure.
Twilight's green and gold eyes gleamed something close to a cold calculated malice. While she had been watching the exchanges with something close to amusement, there was nothing but annoyance riding her now. Turning a slight glance to her mate, she gave a soft wolfish laugh and turned her attention back to Emi and FlameFrost. Hailwing was smart. The pregnant wolf had stayed well clear of the action and for that Twilight commended her. Silver tipped tail curled high, she stepped closer to the young pair, barely glancing at FlameFrost where he hovered over his bonded, Twilight's lips curled away from her fangs in a quiet snarl. FlameFrost. Please inform your bonded that she's to report to the captain's office by noon. If she does not, and I dare say it would be in her best interest if she does, I will personally come to your barracks or wherever you may be hiding and I will drag her out. Is that understood? Her voice was low, the tone promising much pain and suffering for both wolf and rider if that command wasn't obeyed. Alister could be ruthless but the ruthlessness of humans was nothing when compared to that of a wolf. There was a reason why between her and WoodWhisp she was the more dominant one. Exceedingly merciful and exceedingly ruthless, Twilight could be vicious or gentle. And her time for the latter had long passed.

Lucifer reached over and clutched his sister’s arm. He didn’t particularly care about his parent’s arguments, but his sister seemed to care so much more. And anything that did that to his sister automatically made him mad. As his aunt set the both of them down on Shadowsong and stiffly saluted his parents, he knew she didn’t mean it; Lucifer scooted closer to his sister and wrapped his arms around her in a hug. He would protect her, he would always protect Dante. From his parents and their anger, from the other Privates of the fort who looked down on them for being such problem causers and for being the ‘spoilt children of the higher ups’, from anything that ever tried to hurt his sister. Dante was his sister and his twin and she was, as far as he was concerned, easily the most important thing in his life. If she got hurt or sick or sad then he would be as well, and we would always seek retribution. And later he would certainly be seeking retribution against Emi for acting so smug and rude to his family. Just because his parents argued so much didn’t mean that they weren’t important to him.
Calla resisted the urge to shove the blade through his stomach and leave him to be eaten by his own stomach acids. It was a tempting thought; put an end to his insolence and attitude. But she wouldn’t, she couldn’t. She had sworn to herself that her children would have a family, a family like she had never had. And sure it wasn’t an ideal family, they never claimed to be perfect, but it was something that she could claim she had given her children. Just because her and Alister didn’t always get along didn’t mean he and the children didn’t. She wouldn’t take their father away from them. “I would love to kill you Alister. To drive this dagger through you now and leave you for dead.” She hissed, some arguments were best kept amongst themselves after all, “And the only thing keeping me from doing that right now are my children. I won’t take their father away from them Alister.” The look in her eyes was restrained, and it was certainly a struggle to resist her instincts to kill him. Her children, Lucifer and Dante were more important to her than her own conflicts with Alister. It wasn’t even the paperwork she cared about; she didn’t mind doing the paper work in all honesty. It gave her something to do when WoodWhisp refused and she had nothing else to work on. The Lieutenant was a fan of working herself to the bone every day, from sun-up to sun down there was always work to be done, such was the life of a Wolfrider. And in the cold the paperwork had allowed her to keep working while remaining inside the warmth of her office. And after she had been taken off active duty while she was pregnant doing paperwork had become common place, she had refused to quite work all together. That would have nigh killed her, lounging around the fort with nothing to do. As it was she had already been a fairly common site on the training fields. It was a bit odd to see a pregnant woman running rigorous firing drills and repeatedly putting WoodWhisp through various courses until he could do them with his paws tied in his sleep. No, what angered her was his seeming inability to put in his share of the work, and somehow managing to get it all back on her desk after she had given it to him. Not that it did him that much good, considering until it was finished she could do no more with it. It wouldn’t get any more done on her desk than it already was if it required his review and signature. So she would settle for ruining his reputation further than she already had, make his life as miserable as possible, until he started to pull his half of the load with work and with the kids. Until he could do that he would never be a Captain to her, granted the chances of him ever actually becoming a Captain to her were very slim if at all, she would always be just Alister to her. And she would never, under any circumstances in any life appreciate being called Lieutenant by him.
Sure WoodWhisp was fat, and lazy, and at this particular moment still very sleepy, he was an Alpha. And just because he was a particularly laid back Alpha that didn’t mean he wouldn’t stand in when discipline was required. Just because he treated his pack as comrades didn’t mean they could completely disrespect him and his Bonded. WoodWhisp pulled himself up from the blankets and directly into a more Alpha-worthy poise. In a few steps he had come to stand beside his mate, towering over the pup. A deep growl rumbled from his throat as he glared down at the pup. It would also be in your best interest that unless your Bonded learns to respect Authority we will not hesitate to take punishment into our own teeth. WoodWhisp held a mutual respect with his pack, they respected his authority and decisions as Alpha, and he respected their creativity and opinions as his pack. WoodWhisp would even tolerate it if a wolf disobeyed a direct order, so long as they had a good reason to, but disrespect was something he would not tolerate for any reason. It was one thing for Calla to disrespect Alister, she had her reasons and her rights as the mother of his children, but Emi did not have any of those rights. She had no right to show disrespect to any of her superiors and WoodWhisp would not hesitate to take her punishment upon himself if he did not agree with whatever Alister decided to dish out.

FlameFrost listened at attention when Twilight spoke and even more so when Woodwhisp took his turn. When he took his part in being strict, one knew that someone had screwed up, and scewed up badly. Emi had certainly did that. Now they were in trouble with all of the top. Both alphas, the captain and the lieutienant. How did she manage to do that? I’ll make sure that she shows up, on time, the blood red wolf said before bowing his head and turning to his bonded. Emi Cross, you are the biggest idiot at the fort, he told her bluntly. “I know,” she replied, not bothering to keep the words between just the two of them.
That wasn’t a lie, she really did know that she had to be the most idiotic person of the year. So what do we have to do? she asked in a soft voice. There was only one thing that she could think would be her punishment but she could never be sure about anything. No, for five years she hadn’t been able to be sure of anything, much less trust anything. However, he line of thought broke when the weight was taken off her back. For an adolescence, Flame was a pretty heavy wolf. Then again, he was almost a year old so that had a part in his weight.
Removing himself from the flatten girl, the red and white wolf turned around and fastened his teeth on her shirt collar. You have to report to the captian’s office at noon, he replied, almost unable to growl when he saw the soaked girl covering her eyes with her wet hair. She looked so pitiful, not even putting up a fight. That wasn’t like her at all. But considering where they were, he didn’t ask a thing. Instead he started to drag her away.
“FlameFrost, I’m sorry but getting dragged hurts,” she said. It was to much effort to talk through her mind. That’s what Emi felt at least. “Let me get up.” Her partner nodded before letting go of her. Using the adolescnce to help her up, the apprentice started to get and failed when the pain got to her. After trying three times and failing all tree times, she gave up. “Never mind, just drag me. It hurt to stand more.” The reason was her back and legs which now killed her thanks to Flame who had settled himself upon her earlier.
Without a sound, the young wolf grabbed her collar again and continued to pull. He could hear Emi’s thoughts clearly. She was obviously in a lot of pain, but he wanted to get her to their barrack. With clothes that were completely socked through, she really needed to get changed and warmed up.

Abigail could do nothing but watch the action ensuing before her. Calla and Alister were literally at each other's throats. Emi was being threatened by the Alphas, which really didn't make much sense to her since most wolves that she saw ignored humans other than the one they were bonded to entirely. But Abigail didn't claim to be intelligent and her knowledge of wolves came from HailWing and the fact that most other wolves left her alone. She would have liked to have helped Emi or stop the chaos that was the argument that was going on between Calla and Alister, but her poor mind couldn't wrap around a solution to either. Her mind went over some of the ways that she would usually alleviate tension. She could break out into song, but that was usually more annoying than funny, especially since it was always loud and very off key. That wasn't to say that she couldn't sing, just that she never made any attempt to sing well. Abigail could grab the nearest person and attempt to start dancing, but that would likely go unnoticed by everyone but her impromptu partner and mentally scar any innocent passersby. Dang it! This was so much easier when she was drunk!
HailWing took a somewhat more humorous view of the spectacle. The fight between the Captain and Lieutenant didn't seem to be going anywhere. Emi's injury was due to her own wolf rather than the Alphas and the last human -Anastasia if she was correct- was glaring her little heart out as if magic rays of fire could shoot from her eyes and strike the little apprentice down where she stood (or laid in this case). It really didn't help whatever pride that woman must have had that she was leaving. HailWing felt a semblance of pity for her, though her attention should have been focused on Emi, her rider's apprentice. She felt a kind of kinship toward the rider in this particular situation. Unsettled, but unable to express her dislike for the situation because of rank. Then again, she was likely reading too far into the situation. It took little time being pregnant to find out that hormones didn't agree with brain function.
Abigail, having been trading her attention between Calla and Alister's fight and Emi's current predicament, stepped in shortly after FlameFrost started dragging Emi across the ground. Running in front of them to stop their movement, she looked down with a concerned expression. "Ya know ya shouldn't be doin' that! Even if he's close to a year old, ya shouldn't risk it! If ya need ta get outta here, then Ah'll do one better," she said, turning around. Abigail bent down and held her hands out behind herself. "Ah'll give ya a piggy-back ride. How's that sound?" Abigail turned her head back to look at them and smiled.
HailWing rolled her eyes and stood, keeping her posture low like she had always done when near the alphas, and followed her rider to where FlameFrost and Emi were. As much as walking around was a pain, she certainly didn't want to stay here where she would be forced into submission by the presence of the alphas. That she even came here was a complete mystery even to herself. Perhaps the idea of staying in the den all day was even more undesirable than following Abigail all over the place.

Miri was trying, key word there is trying, to sleep. She was lying Darkwind's side at the base of a large, snow-covered evergreen tree. Noise was echoing around the forest and it sounded like yelling, growling, and a bunch of other sounds that Miri couldn't identify. She also couldn't tell who was in the group maknig the noise since they were too far off. Once again, Miri closed her eyes, trying not to concentrate on the voices. There was a kind of soft rumbling noise and then, Miri felt freakishly cold and wet and she heard a yelp from Dark. Opening her eyes, she couldn't see anything, but she knew that it was snow that fallen all over her and Dark. Miri also knew that the snow had fallen from the tree because of the yelling or whatever was going on. Grumbling, she attempted to get up, but with all the snow on top of her, it was very difficult. Finally, she had managed to "dig" her way out and she saw Dark was shivering too, but smirking. "Took you long enough." Dark said. Miri rolled her eyes."Atleast I didn't 'yelp'," not bothering to talk to Dark in their telepathic bond. Dark looked at her, glaring. "I didn't 'yelp' as you say it...I yelled in surprise and shock." Dark turned her head away haughtingly. Miri knew Dark was only playing around when she turned her head, but Miri was still exasperated with her wolf's stubborness. She mounted Dark as the two made it back to the barracks to find some towels.
Dark sat on the floor of their barrack, as she didn't want to get the den wet. Miri had gone into bathroom to fish out some large towels to dry themselves off with. Finally, when Miri emerged from the bathroom, Dark was lying on her paws and waiting. "Your hair's all a mess."Dark said. She head Miri snort and didn't seem to care. Miri had already wrapped a towel over her private uniform and was in the process of drying up Dark's fur, which was just as stubborn as the wolf was and refused to give up the cold, now melted snow. Dark heard Miri sigh as she gave up trying to dry the dark blue fur. Dark could feel Miri fixing the towel so it would stay under the saddle."Let's go find out what caused the noise, shall we?" Miri said.Dark nodded. She walked out the door for wolves while Miri walked out the other. Once they were outside, Miri mounted Dark and sped across, following the yelling that was still going on.
Miri was still wearing the soaked uniform and the towel when the two of them arrived at the place of the yelling. She saw Calla and Alister, the two Captain and Lieutenant of White Shadow. She also saw a blood Emi and her wolf, Flamefrost, who was trying to help Emi, Abigail and HailWing, who were trying to help Emi, and two very pissed off wolves, Twilight and Woodwisp. Miri was once again, clueless. She wanted to help her friend, Emi, but she also knew that it would be bad to interfere with the Alphas' punishments and it would be extrememly bloody. She also noticed that Abigail, Emi's patron, helping her out so Miri and Dark just sat there, waiting for their presense to be noticed.

The hug from her twin brother was one thing, the brush of her aunt's hand against her cheek was another. Dante could feel that her aunt didn't approve of Emi's behaviour or that of her parents to be honest. The salute and the sudden burning silence were more than enough of an indication of that. It wasn't a rare thing for Ana to lose her temper but all those times it had been a hot anger. A burning anger that flared up and after a few hours of raging went out. But this? This Dante could feel was a deeper anger. One that would burn far hotter and far longer than most times. Personally she welcomed that anger, she really hoped it would be turned on Emi. And when it did, she hoped she was around to see it. Sighing she leaned into her brother, keeping her fingers buried in ShadowSong's fur. One of these days she'd have a wolf of her own, and if Emi was still alive then, she'd deal with her. A vengence that would burn for years to come, but it would come. For now, the child could only direct scathing glares in Emi's direction, not at all moved by the fact that the girl couldn't walk. It was her own fault. Let her get crippled, what care was it of hers?
Once Ana was out of earshot of her cousin and Calla, the woman let loose a series of soft curses all directed at Emi for being a fool and other such things. Whoever heard her, so be it. She didn't care. She honestly, didn't care. At this point in time the only persons in the fort that outranked her were too busy trying to kill each other. That just left everyone else beneath her. Beneath her as far as her current mentality whispered. And may the heavens help the person that crossed her right about now, willingly or unwillingly. Blazing blue-green gaze drifting upward, she nearly snarled at the sight of the dark colored wolf and her rider as they passed into her field of view. Mirisua and Darkwind. A poor unfortunate duo if she'd ever seen one. "I'd watch where I was going if I were you, Private." Her tone was venomously dark and she sidestepped a nudge from her bonded. Ana was in no mood to deal with fools right now, and that much was clear on her face. If there was ever an inheritance among her family other than the blond hair, it was the near infamous temper. A temper that could turn very, very violent if the ocassion called for it.
"Why doesn't that surprise me? You've been trying to kill me for years Calla. Years. And you haven't done it yet." He was pushing his luck but really if Calla had wanted to kill him, she would have done so years ago. The children weren't an excuse or even the fraction of a reason for why she hadn't killed him yet. It was something else. Something he wasn't quite sure what. He was pretty sure he didn't want to want know either. Quite possibly too disturbing for any remotely sane person to contemplate. "No Calla, those children aren't the reason why you haven't killed me yet, there's something else." He was pushing his luck again, but perhaps he was on to something, and what was the worse that could happen? She'd stab him and leave him here to bleed to death, all in all nothing he hadn't dealt with before. This little spat had all started from one word. True he didn't pull his weight most times as far as paperwork went, but that was mainly due to the number of ridicious requests. Abigail's request for that couch had been the final straw. He'd left the papers there and unsigned. A new couch was the least of their priorities. If it wasn't life threatening, then it wasn't needed.
As for Calla, the woman had never been happy with the fact that he outranked her. That's why she'd thrown a near fit when he'd been promoted to sergeant, granted she'd been mere minutes behind as far as walking into that cursed room was concerned. And now, here she stood, inches from stabbing him. A scene he'd been confronted with hundreds of times until he was certain this was part of a nightmare. A nightmare that he'd be all too happy to be over with. For now however there were other more pressing matters to deal with. One such matter was the dagger, so dangerously close to ripping into his flesh. The closeness of the dagger point didn't bother him, it was the small gathering that was starting to bother him. Emi was somewhere dragging off in shame, but oh he wasn't done with her. Not in the least. He had plans for her punishment, and Abigail as well. Simply because the woman should have known better than to let her apprentice get away with such an attitude and wagging tongue. A few nights of ice out on the wall would be enough to shut Emi up for a very long time.
Twilight had yet to relax, even with FlameFrost and Emi retreating, her eyes had shifted from the apprentice and pup to Abigail and HailWing. More precisely HailWing. Something was off with the pregnant wolf. Something she'd noticed for all the years since she'd known the other female. There had always been a certain...disdain for being forced to submit to the more dominant members of the pack. And now that she, Twilight was on the top, she was noticing it more and more. Of course the only reason she hadn't put a stop to these...bouts just yet was because HailWing was pregnant, and the forts needed those pups. Rolling her shoulder slowly, her gaze shifted to Miri and Darkwind, there was another soft and threatening snarl. She was in no mood to tolerate any show of absentminded disobedience from any wolf. Not even one so...young as Darkwind. Snorting softly, her head titled toward her mate before tilting back toward Darkwind and Miri. There was the slightest of questions in that simple gesture. In moods like this, every wolf, even WoodWhisp ran the risk of getting their heads bitten off by her. Not a tempting prospective for any wolf caught between the ground and her jaws. Darkwind. She called cautiously, her posture still as stiff as it had been mere moments before. Any sign of a twitch on Darkwind's part and she was going to be all over the she-wolf.

Miri heard the voice. She spun around after getting off the saddle on Darkwind's back. She saw the White Shadow private that had been talking to her, this "Anastasia." "This one's a bit crazy in the head."she told Darkwind mentally. She heard Dark mentally snort at Miri's childish-ness. Miri didn't care about the wildness she saw in the other privates eyes or the venom in her voice. The two of them were of the same rank, even if Ana was the cousin of the fort's captain. She stared at the other private coolly while thinking of what to say to Ana. "I was just passing by, private." Miri said with steel in her voice and directing the title back at Anastasia, showing that Ana had no power over her and that she was ready for a fight if it were to happen. Miri turned her head to see that Captain Alister and Lieutenant Calla were too busy with their verbal sparring to have noticed the appearance of her and Dark, or else she would have saluted to them. "When, or rather if, they noticed us, then I'll pay respects to them. Right now, I have to deal with THIS crazy private." she thought. She turned to Dark, who's attention was on the Alpha, Twilight.
Dark was staring a bit amusingly, a bit annoyed, and a bit concerned at Miri and her antics. She had to agree with her rider there, this woman did seem a bit insane, from what she had heard. The many emotions overwhelmed her mind. Amusement for the silly antics of the bright-haired rider and what she always does in the worst situations. Annoyance at this strange private. What had the two of them ever done? What was wrong with coming up to where they were now? They came here to investigate the noise, and Dark was almost certain that other privates and gammas would show up as well with all the ruckus that had been going on. Why pick on them two in particular? This place was free to all privates and other riders in the winter as well. Concern for the same reason as the other two emotions. "Miri's going to end up paying for all her mistakes one day... Dark thought to herself, sighing. The thoughts were going through Dark's head as she wondered about what was going on. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she almost hadn't noticed Twilight speaking to her. She turned around to see the Alpha, and got on layed low, using extra caution to lower herself so that her muzzle pratically touched the ground. Her ears were flat on top of the wolf's head, like she folded them during runs in the winter, and her tail practically made a whip-like noise as she flattened it on the cold, grassy ground. The Alpha looked mad, and Dark automatically knew that it was Emi's fault. "Yes, Alpha Twilight?" Dark said to the Alpha slowly.

Emi looked up at her Patron who had stepped in to stop her from being dragged by her partner. “Ya, you’re probably right about that. Sorry about that FlameFrost. I could have hurt you from letting you drag me.” She ran her hand through the soft fur on the wolves back before turning to look at Abigail. “You sure about this? I mean, it isn’t your job to baby sit me.” Look after her, ya, that was sort of part of what Abigail had to do as a Patron, or at least it seemed. Baby sit her? The blond head could probably leave her sitting in the snow and wouldn’t get in trouble. As much as she hated to admit it, over the past months, Abigail had become more of a best friend or sister than her own sister had been to her. A piggy-back ride… when was the last time she even heard that word come from the mouths of her own family? Right before her brother got kicked in the chest and died.
The apprentices eyes glazed over again before she shook her head to clear her mind. “But, thanks anyways,” she said before easing herself on, so that she was clutching Abigail. Around the time she got herself settled, she saw Mirisua, and old friend of hers, and Ana. If Ana pushed Miri, there could very well be a fight to the death between the two of them. Miri was someone who wouldn’t take anything from those who were the same rank as her. She was her own person, and could easily kick ones butt all over if she wanted to. But, not wanting her cyan and blue haired friend to get involved anymore than she was, Emi shut her mouth, and planned to keep it that way.
FlameFrost felt a small pang in his chest when he heard his full name. FlameFrost. Emi hardly ever called him that. When she did, it was usually when she was made. Even when she was said she stuck to the nickname Flame. Hearing the tone of her voice, and the words, it was painful. It felt like he could feel this pain that was supposed to be hers and hers alone. The situation really brought her mood down though it was obvious she was trying to keep it up. Shaking his head, the fire and ice wolf turned to look at Twilight. She had confronted a blue wolf by the name of Darkwind. It was not going to be a fun day, and most likely, night. Flame nuzzled Abigail as a signal to say, ‘Can we please get her to her barrack?’ Emi was thoroughly soaked and he wanted to make sure she could get warm before reporting to the Captain’s office.

Abigail raised an eyebrow in confusion. What was Emi apologizing for? Injury wasn't very likely at this stage. Abigail had just been trying to keep Calla and Alister from having anything else to jaw at her about. True, there wasn't much worse a private could do than disobey a direct order from her Captain, but even Abigail knew better than to give them more to complain about. It struck her as odd the way that Emi thought about this situation. Maybe she just wasn't smart enough to understand, but Abigail had a somewhat different definition of baby sitting. "Call me crazy, but helpin' a friend when they're hurt ain't mah idea of baby sittin'." No, her idea of baby sitting was having the adorable Dante and Lucifer dropped off at her place so that she could hug them and pinch their adorable little chubby cheeks all she wanted. This reminded her, she hadn't gotten a chance to hug them yet today and it didn't seem like they were too keen on letting Abigail babysit again. Come to think of it, that girl, whatever her name was, was baby sitting them at the moment. If she hurried, she could probably get a quick hug in before what's-her-name dragged them off.
After helping Emi up and receiving a nuzzle from FlameFrost, Abigail motioned for HailWing to come closer and helped Emi to balance herself. "Hail'll help ya to yer barracks. Ah'll catch up later and warn ya if Calla and Alister are comin'," she explained. HailWing stood on the opposite side of Emi, allowing Abigail to transfer the girl's weight to herself. Emi wouldn't be able to ride HailWing because the wolf was pregnant, but she could easily use the wolf as sort of a crutch. It was just as good as any help Abigail could have given her considering that Emi had refused the piggy back ride. It wasn't her intention to abandon her adorable (though somewhat empty-headed as evidenced by this situation) apprentice, but it wasn't like her to miss the chance to spend time with her even more adorable niece and nephew. Really, they were technically her second cousins, but it didn't make any difference to her. Ali may as well have been her brother. Heck, they could have been attached at the hip for all the difference it made. That might have made their relationship with Calla a little strange (and they likely would never have became wolf riders), but at least she could give him a ton of hugs and kisses and noogies and her other favorite means of bonding.
The private approached the two other privates who were having some sort of discussion. What about, Abigail either hadn't made it in time to hear or she hadn't been paying attention. HailWing looked back toward Emi for some indication that she was ready to go. In any case, it was none of her business and she honestly had no interest in it. Her one objective was to give Dante and Lucifer each a big comforting hug. They would probably need it after this kind of situation, what with their parents fighting. And Abigail would deliver to them the best, most comforting hug she could. There was still a lot of time left in the day and she supposed she could always see them later, but for whatever reason, they didn't visit often. "Uh... " Okay, Abigail should really have had a game plan before approaching. The woman didn't have a clue what either of their names were and here she was trying to get the blondie to let her hug the kids. "Hey... privates." It was a total cop out, but it would be better than saying "buddies" or "you guys", she supposed. She was trying to be cautious. After all, after getting close enough, even Abigail could tell that they had daggers for eyes.
Although Abigail only had one objective here, some part of her (a part of her that may have just been HailWing's slight concern for her human's safety) told her to wait before attacking the children with hugs.
