Keena grinned broadly as he laughed, enjoying how easy it seemed to make him do so. She loved making people happy, and he seemed to be such a cheerful person. Not to mention he was very interesting too, he seemed knowledgeable as well as being humorous.
She followed him as he sniffed the air and headed off, keeping her eyes peeled and her head down as she did so. When they spotted the zebras, she glanced at him as she tensed to follow his lead. But he was so quick, she wound up more watching him make the kill than actually helping, as she'd intended.
His goofy smile was just adorable though!
"I would love to share," she said gratefully, resisting the urge to help clean the blood off his muzzle as she might have for a cub. He was an adult after all, for all he seemed to be fun and playful. He was more than capable of looking after himself. "Thank you," the lioness added, no need to forget the manners she'd been taught just because she was having fun after all.

Maktaba nodded his head at her saying thank you, more than happy to have done it. He was a bit puffed out, and glad to sit down for a moment, though he did his best to hide it. Didn't want her thinking he was too old for this kind of stuff, and had worn himself out.
He moved to the zebra, though, tugging at a leg until it gave way and ripped off. Grinning at it, he chewed at the meat. He was ravenous, but doing his damned best to be polite about it. He hated being rude, even when he was eating and starving.
Boy, it was good though.
When he was finished, chewing on the bone lazily, he looked at her, feeling much better now that his stomach wasn't doing flips.
"I'm glad to have bumped into you today," he said amiably, "it's certainly been a pleasant encounter."

Keena didn't seem to notice that the hunting had tired the older lion. Whether she honestly didn't see, or just chose to act as though she hadn't wasn't entirely clear. With her, either was possible. If he seemed embarrassed by it, she wouldn't comment. But if he'd seemed hurt, she probably would have asked if she could help him any.
Since she didn't say anything, it was uncertain as to whether or not she did. But it probably wasn't significant regardless.
She settled down to tear off some of the still-warm meat herself, enjoying the company more than the zebra but the food was very much appreciated. Even though they didn't speak during the meal, it was still different than eating alone. Pleasant, even in the quiet.
"My feelings exactly," Keena practically purred when he said he was glad to have bumped into her. She licked at a bit of blood she could feel staining her fur in spite of her efforts to be somewhat neat. Maktaba was a wonderful person to have met, and company was always nice to find. Especially when said company was glad of hers as well.

Maktaba laughed and nodded his head. He was glad she agreed. He was sleepy now, from eating and from running around, and he let out a bit yawn as he pushed the bone he had been chewing on away from him. He shifted, rolling onto his back and heaving a sigh.
Soon he flopped onto his side, head resting on the soft brown grass.
"I could do with a nap," he said, already nodding off as he spoke. "I could really do with one, in fact." He chuckled. He closed his eyes, calming down. Good food, good company. He was perfectly content. If she wasn't there when he woke up he wouldn't be too surprised, and certainly not offended,
He wondered if it was rude to fall asleep while in company.

Keena giggled as the other lion rolled onto his back. For someone who claimed to have been found boring, he was ever so entertaining! And he was so nice to be with. Fun and friendly and a good conversationalist. It had been such luck running into him today...
She blinked as he seemed to nod off almost instantly. That was...impressive. She spent ages falling asleep some nights. How did he do it...?
Intrigued, and pleasantly full, she stretched to lay on her belly not too far from him, content for the moment to rest. But it wouldn't be long before something brought her back to her feet, calling her onward. Where she was going she didn't know, she never knew. But the journey seemed to be what it was all about.
