Akemi bit her lip hard not wanting to say anything. It felt strange to her, but she'd given rights away so she stepped away, sitting back a few feet from the two. Her eyes filled with tears though as she listened intently, wanting to know what had happened to Kaoru.
Hikaru focused on Reina and wrapped his bigger paws around her neck, clinging like a cub though he'd grown a bit more. "We went back to the evil twins...b..but...he...he told me to run while he held her off...that he'd meet me north and it's north...!! He's supposed to be here!!" Rolls over until he can crawl under her, wanting to feel protected by her again. "What if she killed him??? What if she killed my brother!!!" Sobs and shakes under her, tail between his legs.

Reina's heart nearly stopped as he mentioned the words evil and kill. Her mind raced. Could it be true? No it couldn't be. Not now. Not when she just vowed to the cubs true mother that she would watch after them as she could not. "Ssh it will be ok." she cooed gently, resting her wing over him and nuzzling him. "I will find your brother, and will bring him home safe and alive." she said and promised. Glancing up at Akemi with both fearful and stern eyes, she wondered what the lioness would do.

Akemi felt as though she'd be sick. Chills ran through her, making her shake as she stood slowly and padded closer, fighting fresh tears. "Hikaru..." Motherly instinct hit her hard enough to knock her over. She leaned closer to nuzzle him, then stood back and looked Reina square in the eyes, appearing every bit as powerful as she once was as a warrior. "I was raised to be a warrior for my Pride since I was a cub. One thing I learned was nobody gets left behind...You are their mother now but..." Her wings flared out as she looked up to the sky. "Let me get him...bring him to you. Let that be the one thing I could do to actually help them..."
Hikaru whimpered when he felt a stranger nuzzle him, only crawling closer to Reina. When the other lioness spoke of being a mother he peeked out and actually looked at her. Then at himself and thought about Kaoru's markings. A hard lump formed in his throat as he got up and tackled her over, growling as his hackles stood on end. "You...Akemi..." He snapped his jaws together inches from her face then jumped off. "I hate you...I despise you...We left to find those twin's strength to be warrior sons for you and now Kaoru may be dead...Look at me! Did you know the one with Kaoru raped me?! WHERE WERE YOU?! WHY DIDN'T YOU EVEN TRY TO SAVE US?!! You are No mom..." He spit at her, looked to his adopted mother sadly, then took off at a speedy run.

Reina watched Akemi very carefully, her own instincts already kicking in, however she withheld them as this lioness was their true blood mother. When Akemi's eyes changed from sadness to power, she almost took a hesitant step back.
However, when Hikaru burst out, her eyes went wide. "Hikaru...." she said softly, watching the events unfold until the teen ran off by himself. Feeling as if someone just stabbed her through the heart, she started off after him before pausing and turning back to Akemi. "If you really wish to do one last thing for your sons, then you can go and find Kaoru." she said taking a deep breath. "But I can not promise you his reaction wont be the same." she said sternly, her eyes holding both anger and sorrow for Akemi before she turned back around and took off full speed after Hikaru.
"Hikaru!! Wait!" she called, closing in on him.

Akemi rolled to her paws, regarding Reina with a tearful nod. She had nothing more to say, couldn't bring herself to speak as a storm raged in her eyes and heart. She'd expected harsh words from Kaoru, but from Hikaru...well whatever she expected wasn't what happened. As the other lioness ran off after Hikaru she jumped off and shot off into the sky searching in the direction the first twin had come from.
Hikaru ran as fast as his legs could carry him, though being whacked by brush and running over several rocks slowed him down until he gave up and collapsed to his stomach panting heavily. "Why...? What did I do...what did Kaoru do...? Kaoru...you can't..." He began sobbing as his entire body seemed to throb from pain and exaustion. "Reina..."

Reina slowed her pace to a gentle halt as she came to a rest over Hikaru, her eyes brimming with tears but she held them back. Gently licking the top of his head, she laid down beside him and wrapped her wing over him. "Ssh now it will be ok I promise. I'm right here, and we will get Kaoru back." she said gently, nuzzling the side of his face.

~~~Time Skip~~~ Hikaru lay nuzzled close to his adopted Mother, relaxing as her warmth kept him safe. For now nothing could bother him. That is...until he heard wings flapping and loud groans. He sat up to spot his brother riding in Akemi's arms, moaning in pain. "Koaru!!!" He stood and bolted to his twin, nuzzling his cheek affectionatly, glaring at Akemi but saying nothing because she had saved him.
Akemi landed gently, laying Kaoru down very softly on a soft bunch of grass. His wounds were bad, but he was alive and would survive it. She couldn't help herself, licking his cheek as tears rolled down her cheeks. "You poor boy...Kaoru...I'm so sorry..."Kaoru felt his back touch down on the ground and he squirmed. The dark lioness had clawed him enough to open his old wounds and create new ones, as well as where her fangs had dug into the back of his neck. His eyes opened slightly and he looked at Akemi seeing the stains of his blood on her, he then looked down at himself. "P...perphosone...that...dark lioness...she did this to me..." Something seemed very off about him, but for now he squirmed and groaned in agony.

Reina felt as if her very heart had been stabbed. Bounding over to Kaoru, she resisted the urge to nuzzle him as well as Akemi began to clean his wounds. Instead, she stood to the side, calling his name gently. "Kaoru...it will be alright." she said, digging her claws into the ground to hide her anger at whoever this Persephone lioness was. Her rage bubbled over like a volcano inside her, and it took all she had to keep from dashing off and finding this lioness to teach her a lesson.... no matter the odds.
Reina not only had a younger sister, but now two cubs that she'd give her life for, and she wasn't content with just standing idly by and letting this happen over and over...... though in the back of her mind, she knew it was dangerous and silly to think such things.

Hikaru looked to Reina, wanting to be held now, unable to look at the wounds that inflicted his brother so badly. "He got those...because he stalled her...so I could get away..." Tears started to roll down his cheeks once more at the thought, his tail wrapped around a hind leg. "He's hurt because of me..."
Kaoru took a deep breath, ignoring the pain just long enough to reach up and pull his brother close to him. "It's not your fault Hikaru...I did it because I love my little brother..." He then looked up at Akemi, biting his lip to hold back tears. "Akemi...you abandoned us...we aren't your sons...But I know...just by how you saved me from her...You have more kids...go to them and be their mother...we have somebody now...Don't worry about us...any longer..."
Akemi stepped away, not sure what to say to Kaoru now. She looked to Reina, padding over to her, facing her. "Reina...I brought Kaoru back to you...I understand if you hate my guts...I know I'm not happy with myself...But please never judge those two. They are the sweetest boys and...Koaru held his anger back to keep from frightening Hikaru..." She stood, opening her wings. "I will leave them in your paws...I know you will be a loving...Mother..." Jumps up and takes off, soaring high enough that she finally let her tears fall freely.

Shocked, Reina draped a paw over Hikaru, pulling her close to him, listening with eyes wide as Kaoru told Akemi how he really felt. Inside, her heart seemed to be screaming as it was torn to bits, but somehow she felt it was the right decision, no matter how painful it seemed. As Akemi flew off, Reina padded over to Kaoru and nuzzled him, licking a few of his wounds gently. "Your so brave." smiles warmly. "A brilliant and strong fighter that both a brother...and a mother can be proud of." she said as she nuzzled him more, looking back to also draw Hikaru closer to her. Inside she promised herself she would take care of these two no matter what, even if it meant giving her life. She only hoped she wouldn't let them down....

Hikaru nuzzled up to Reina's warm side needing the comfort that gave him. With his brother back and Akemi gone, most of the tension in his body and heart began loosening. With Reina he truly felt cared for, he knew she would drape her wing over him just as she did the day they met when he'd crawled under her crying. "let me call you Mom...please...can I...?"
Kaoru turned to look at his twin, his breath coming in short gasps as pain combined with a deep sadness. "Hikaru...my poor brother...i'm so sorry...I was too weak to stop her from...from..." As his normally strong voice trembled the dam broke and tears streamed down his cheeks. For the first time in his life he sobbed without caring if he looked weak. "I should've stopped her from doing what she did to you!! I just...I...I'm sorry!!" As several of his wounds continued to bleed his body shook from the powerful sobs.

Reina gently nuzzled Hikaru. "Of course you may call me mom." she smiled softly, draping her wing over him before Kaoru began to speak. As he did so, she frowned. "Sssh, stop speaking, you need to rest." she said and wiped his tears away with her nose before she began to gingerly lick at his wounds to stop the bleeding as best she can. "Everything will be alright now, I promise."

Hikaru couldn't face his brother now, the memories running through his mind reminding him that he'd seen it all. He felt ashamed and acted like it by turning his back to his twin and curling up under Reina's wing, biting his lip to muffle whimpers that slipped out of him. Now that Kaoru was back he'd thought things would be better, but even he could tell something was off about Kaoru. Something bad that he'd ignore. "...Thank you...Momma..."
Kaoru put his paws over his eyes, not able to face the fact that his brother had turned away from him. "Hikaru...I said sorry...I was weak..." His eyes became void of emotion, turning a darker color as he forced himself to his paws, ignoring the pain. He made it to his belly then growled and snapped closer until his jaw clamped down on Hikaru's hide leg. His grip tightened until blood trickled from his lips and a crack was heard followed by a shriek from Hikaru. Regardless of this his jaw remained there.

Reina blinked wide eyed as it all seemed to happen so fast and yet in such slow motion she hardly had time to stop it. "Kaoru! No! What are you doing!" she roared, sinking her teeth into the scruff of Kaoru's neck and began to try to peel him off. She growled through a mouth full of fur. "Stop this at once! He is your brother!" she hissed, her tail lashing back and forth. She did her best to tug Kaoru away, but she didn't want to risk Kaoru not letting go and yanking Hikaru's leg out at the same time. Her heart seemed to beat so fast and so loudly, she wasn't even sure if they could hear what she had said... let alone hear herself.

Hikaru thrashed, nearly blacking out as he felt the bones in his leg break. Why had his brother attacked him? He kicked with his good leg trying desperatly to either pull away or stun his brother with a kick. "Let go!! It hurts!! Kaoru!!!" It was all too much, he fought to stay conscious, not sure how to register everything that had happened.
Kaoru tore at tendons, slashing at his brother's belly until Reina's teeth caught the scruff of his neck. His eyes turned almost white as a rage burned inside him. He lout out a loud roar and forced himself up, letting go of Hikaru for the moment. "Why did you grab me...?!" He wasn't himself, he was too far gone with everything that had happened. Now he did the unthinkable, he attacked Reina the lioness that had saved them. His teeth went for her throat while his claws dug at her wherever they could catch her.
