"Rowan." He said again as he closed the distance between the two. Now what was it that he wanted to ask him? Something about....well he wasn't sure. "Where is Thorn?" He asked, sure that that was what he had come to talk about. "Has he gotten the herd to get off their lazy asses yet?" That he doubted, after all Rowan was still here and didn't seem like he was ready to do battle at all. What a shame. He had really hoped that this time when he returned that the herd would be ready to make their move. Seems he was wrong yet again.
"Yes where is Thorn." War mumbled from Thanos' back "He's clearly with the others."

"Thorn, he is with the others near where the mountain meets the forest." Rowan told his superior. The leaders next question made Rowan almost burst out in laughter. "No he hadn't gotten them off their lazy asses yet." It was so hard to hold in a chuckle. "It seems that they still wish to laze about talking about having foals and doing nothing." He knew that answer would displease his leader but it was the truth. Should Thanos strike him out of anger because of it then so be it. He was completely loyal to the herd and if he deserved a punishment he would certainly not run away from that. He was not a runner, not when it came to horses anyways. Humans, well they were another story.

Thanos let out a snort. Damnit this herd was going to drive his insane, well at least more insane that he already was. At least Rowan seemed to be a non lazy one. Sure he was off on his own but was Thanos any different. He probably got tired of listening to others talk about how they wanted a second chance with their new life and took some time away. Second chance, ha like that was even possible for them. They were not normal horses, they would never be normal again, so why try to have normal lives. Stupid wastes of time and space, that's what they were. What was he doing here again? Oh right.
"I am bringing a mare to the herd lands. She is off head the base of the mountain now. Let Thorn and the others know she is here. And if any of them try to stop her I will beat them into the ground." His eyes changed for a moment, they seemed to glow a deeper red now, as if punctuating his point that he would not stand for the others messing with that mare. "I must go get her now. You go and tell the others."
"She has probably died by now, stupid old nag." War grumbled. She didn't understand why Thanos was wasting his time with her. "I doubt she has died. Though she is pretty weak from what I can tell. Nothing a bit of grazing and relaxation can't fix."
Thanos stood looking at Rowan. The rats had done a damn good job of distracting him from what he had intended to do. That was to go get Regret and bring her closer to the herd. He stared blankly at Rowan, saying nothing else, just staring.

Rowan bobbed his head as Thanos gave him his instructions. Though he was sort of interested in why Thanos was bringing this mare to the herd he decided not to ask. Surely she would be a horse driven in the ways that this herd had been founded on, hate, lust for blood and revenge. "I will report to him at once."
Turning Rowan went to do his duty but then realized that Thanos was just standing there. Had he forgotten already what he was going to do? He looked back at the black stallion. "Shouldn't you be going to get her now?" He asked quickly. Though he didn't stick around for an answer, he had work to do and he wasn't sure if Thanos would appreciate him sticking around after he was given a job.

Thanos snapped out of his daze when the Palomino in front of him spoke again. Oh yes, that's what he was supposed to do. "Yes I suppose I should." He said as Rowan moved off in the direction of the herd. Shaking his head he turned around and began to trot off back in the direction he had come from. Well even if Regret had decided to take a look around she couldn't have gotten far, he thought. And that would give Rowan plenty of time to....well do whatever it was he was supposed to do.
"Why you bring her to the herd? She is a waste of time!" "Leave him alone, he knows what he is doing."
Snorting at War the stallion continued on his way. "I choose to let her come because she is much like the others. Death is close to her anyways, so why do you care so much?" That ought to get War going, he thought. It was true thought, with the shape Regret was in he doubted she would survive much longer without someone there to make sure she ate and rested and drank. Though he still couldn't quite figure out why he choose to do such a task.
He finally reached the spot where he had left Regret. Well she wasn't here but really how far could she have gotten. His eyes scanned the immediate area but there was no sign of here. Well damnit where did she go? He didn't bring her all the way out here just to have her wander off on him. He stamped his foot in frustration. Then he spotted some movement closer to the mountain. When he looked he didn't see Regret but the raven that constantly followed her hovering near the cave entrance. Now why was it there? Turning he began to make his way towards the cave.

Regret plodded along at a pace slightly faster then her typical gait, which still wasn't all that quick in regards to most horses. Regrets sense of 'hurrying' seemed to be slightly skewed, or perhaps it was simply her failing condition which led to the lack of speed. Whatever the reason it took Regret nearly twice as long to stumble her way through the cave as it would most others. Not that she cared, she'd get there when she got there. Something in the back of her mind prickled lightly as she went further into the cave, It was colder and damper the farther you went in, the light from the mouth of the cave slowly fading away until it was like walking through a perpetual twilight. How very fitting the mare thought to herself, it was like a summary of her life aid out in rock and stone. Warm and Vital at the beginning, full of life and beauty and promises. Cold and dark the further you went in, no promises to be fulfilled here. Just a slow shambling walk to death.
Suiting, the mare thought to herself as she moved along her flicking ears and roaming eyes watching the walls and ground as though looking for some sort of promised..what? Portal? entrance..shimmery light? Honestly the mare had no idea, but surely hell wouldn't reject her, think about what she had done! No she was sure she would know this so called pathway to hell when she saw it and she could only hope it would still be open. Regret didn't necessary wish to die...but she certainly deserved to be in hell and if Thanos was any example perhaps her memories wouldn't be able to follow her there. wouldn't that be nice? Some time without the plague that was her memories. Perhaps she would forget her past..and like Thanos return to start fresh. Yes...that seemed like a good plan to her.
However as she reached the end of the cave she stood looking at confusion. there was no entrance, no portal...no shimmery promise of amnesia. Just a wall - an eerie, shiny wall of some rock she'd never seen before..but a rock wall none the less. Reaching up with her fore hoof she tapped it creating an echo back throughout the cave and tiny insignificant fleck of the rock fell off. "Well we won't be breaking through now will we" She told the raven before glancing back to find herself alone. Huh..the bird had left, well good riddance.

It didn't take long for Thanos to reach the entrance of the cave. He could see within the dirt the obvious hoof prints of Regrets dragging hooves. Why was she going in here? Didn't he tell her she would be right back. His hoof hit the ground impatiently. Well great now he would have to go after her and drag her back out here. Blasted mares. They were nothing but trouble. He turned, ready to leave her in the cave, she was wasting his time when he should be concentrating on other things.
"You should go get her." Peace told him when the stallion turned away from the cave. "You didn't bring her this far to give up on her now." "Leave her! Let her die like she is meant to!"
"But she didn't stay when I told her to."
"You told her she could look around."
Thanos sighed. He knew Peace was right. "Fine, but this is the last time I go off in search for her. She does this again she is on her own." Turning again he headed into the cave. His eyes adjusted quickly to the diminishing light as he got deeper into the cave. It wasn't all that long ago that he had lead his herd through this very cave to resume their lives again, to bring destruction and death to this world. He shook his head, and yet they did nothing but sit around and eat grass all day. He really wished they would show some blood lust already
Spotting a horse shaped shadow up ahead Thanos increased his pace a bit. As Regret came into view he slowed down. She was standing where the barrier to Hell once stood, though now it was nothing but solid rock. He couldn't be certain whether she was trying to find a way in to Hell or just merely inspecting the weird looking rock. "Regret," He called out to her. "What are you doing?"

Regret had let her head droop slightly as she realized that there was no way into hell from this cave, for a few moments she had merely assumed it wasn't the right place - but no, there in the dirt floor were obvious signs that it was. How else would there be hoof prints seemingly coming out of solid rock? She had allowed herself to think for some time and had yet to come up with any other excuse other then that this was indeed Thano's portal. It seemed he had been right - one could only go through the portal on the night of Hallow's Eve and unfortunately for her, that night had passed by only a few moon cycles ago. It would a long time before it came around again and she could see herself staying around long enough to wait for it. Her memories would haunt her - or well, no point in saying his name but they would find her and finish what they'd started, she never should have started running in the first place the mare thought to herself, she should have just let them kill her, put her out of her misery...
The mares head shot up at the sudden voice behind her, sill beast she told herself...walking yourself into a cave, turning your back on the only way out, snorting and with eye's wide she spun about in terror before her mind registered that it had been Thano's voice she heard, and now was Thano's silhouette she saw outlined against the light from the cave's mouth, and the raven she saw hadn't left at all but was swooping past the cave mouth in an endless and seemingly ticked off manner. Stupid bird...why didn't it just come inside? Regret shook her head slightly as she calmed - and recalled that Thanos had asked her a question. Should she lie? why bother... "I was looking for hell" She told him dully "But there is only a rock wall"

Thanos thought hard on Regrets answer. She was looking for Hell? Why? Was that why she agreed to come with him? He shook his head. No that couldn't it he told himself. He had brought her here because she had no where else to go and he wasn't about to let her go to Hell, even though he could see the barrier was clearly gone now. "The barrier was only open one night, you cannot go to Hell now." He told her somewhat firmly.
"What a shame...she would make an excellent addition to Hell." "I don't think she deserves to go to Hell...nor is she ready for it."
"I didn't bring you here to leave me." He said after listening to the rats opinion on the subject. Why he choose to say that he wasn't sure, it was that damn odd feeling he got around her more than likely. It seemed to fuddle up his brain even more so than normal. He snorted and turned around ready to head out the cave. "Come along, the herd is awaiting your arrival."

Regret had pretty much figured that out on her own but as Thanos restated the obvious the mare let out a deep sigh. It had been little more then a flimsy idea in the first place. But even flimsy ideas held some hope in them and it had been such a long time since Regret had hoped anything that even the loss of such a small hope made her sigh heavily and fall into despair. You see? She told herself - this is what happens when you start thinking too much. Far better just to not bother, it wasn't like Hell was going anywhere. She'd get there when she got there.
Sighing she lowered her head and walked towards Thano's her thoughts briefly flickering as he uttered his next statement...I didn't bring you here to leave me...what did he mean by that? Something in the back of her mind tried to balk, tried to formulate an argument or hesitation - but hadn't we just learned what happened when we thought to much? Thinking lead to nothing good and Regret had done far to much thinking lately for her own good.
"Fine" She told the stallion as she caught up to him. "Lets just leave the cave...it chills my bones" She continued with a slight sigh. She would meet his herd and then? well who knows really - whatever she felt like doing she supposed.

Leading the way out of the cave Thanos snorted and shook his mane at the raven that was currently flitting about the entrance as if waiting for Regret to come out. It was like it was worried that it would miss out on its free meal should she actually succeed in going into Hell. Stupid bird, he thought. As he came back out into the sunshine he almost shuddered. It was so bright and cheery out here. It disgusted him. "We should be able to reach them by midday." He saida s he turned around to make sure she was still following him.
"The other one had better do it's job." Was mumbled. "I'm sure Rowan has already told the herd about our new guest."
"I sent word ahead of your arrival, they will be expecting us soon." Though he knew at the pace Regret moved soon would not be soon at all. He didn't mind the slow pace at which Regret moved. At least she seemed to be moving faster than his herd was. The thought made him chuckle slightly.

Regret had followed willingly behind Thanos - she was keen to leave the cave and the chill it left within her, not to mention the disappointment which she was sure would soon be forgotten in the sunlight. Such things just weren't worth holding on to - she had enough things to depress her without adding more to the already deep pond. Best not to think about that too much sh reminded herself firmly as she trudged along - nearly plowing into Thanos when he suddenly turned about, presumably to make sure she was still following. She had a feling he'd said something to her, but she hadn't been paying attention and for the life of her she couldn't figure out just what it was.
Oh well - she doubted it was important anyways and if it was well, she was sure it would come up in conversation again. Not that Thano's was much of a talker. As she lifted her head to give him a blank look for stopping the raven which had been foolishly flitting about the mouth of the cave landed on a nearby branch and regarded both of them with one beady little eye. It was like a three way stare down and Regret blew out a deep sigh as she waited to see if the stallion had anything more to say.
Oh right. His herd - in her disappointment over the portal regret had almost forgotten that she was supposed to be accompanying Thano's to his herd. His herd of previously dead hell horses - normally a frightening idea but if regret belong anywhere she figured it was with them. "Do you hold a high position in the herd?" She finally asked him, less to break the silence then because she had sudden;y recalled he hadn't asked yet.

"Of course he holds a high position. He's their damned leader." War chirped madly. "Nice wording there, 'damned' leader." Peace chuckled slightly.
Thanos snorted at the rats before turning his attention back to Regret. Had he not told her of his rank in the herd yet? That was a pretty important detail to have left out. He shook his head, wow that was a stupid move bringing her all this way and not telling her that he lead the herd. His mind seemed to be slipping more and more these days. He would need to do something about that. Well if he could remember to do so.
"Yes I hold a high position." He finally began to tell her. "I am their leader." Though he wasn't sure what exactly he was leading them towards. There had been a plan but he had either forgotten it or it had completely fallen apart after they got back here. Well either way he would figure it out somehow.

Regret turned her gaze upon the rodents as the ill tempered one began to squeak and chirp madly, to be honest if it wasn't for their differing temperaments the mare wasn't sure she would be able to tell them apart from one another. she wondered briefly if she would be able to do so eventually, but really? Was being able to tell one rat from another all that important? Doubtful. In any case it seemed her question had roused one of the rodents - though for the life of her she couldn't figure out why and she spared it a long blank look before Thano's spoke to draw her attention away from the irate creature.
Leader was he? Though Regret had assumed he held some sort of high position in the herd, she hadn't suspected him to be the Leader. For one thing it didn't look like the stallion recalled where he was or what he was doing half the time, how could he possibly lead a herd? For another he seemed to wander around quite a bit - at least he'd come across her a goodly distance from the herd and she only had to assume that wasn't the first time he'd wandered. Didn't herd leaders stick close to their herds? She had when...She snorted suddenly halting that thought in mid sentence. Don't go there she warned herself, forcing her thoughts back to the present. It didn't matter what rank this stallion held she told herself. "I see" She told him before motioning with her muzzle in the direction he had left in earlier. "Then we had best not keep your herd waiting"

"Yes, let's not keep them waiting." He repeated before turning in the direction that the herd was in. The herd would have to wait, after all Regret moved pretty damn slow and he wasn't about to rush her. No not right now. Perhaps in the future he would be a bit more pushy about how slow she walks, but for now he was willing to walk slowly with her. He had made a good choice in her. She wasn't like that other mare he had met a while back, though he really couldn't recall her name now. All he knew was that she had been interesting, but there was something about Regret that interested him more. What that was he wasn't sure. He would figure it all out eventually.
"At this rate we will be there in a week." "Then the herd can wait a week can't they."
After what seemed like a few hours of walking, it could have been more or less, it was hard to tell, they finally spotted the herd on the horizon. "There they are. My herd." Thanos told Regret, suddenly standing up straight and proud. While he hated most of his lazy herd members he was still a proud leader. After all how many horses could pull off what they did when they returned to the living world? Not many, he told himself, not many.
