Chivosi paused slightly as they passed int the land of the pack proper - the dens were right ahead and soon she knew other members of the pack would begin to take notice of their presence, glancing over her shoulder at the darkly colored male she gave him a cheerful look and bobbed her head slightly in agreement "Some wolves do well in highly structured packs...but we tend to draw in those who might be considered..misfits..elsewhere, they are a good bunch with good hearts and I think you will like them" She concluded before motioning her head towards the clearing ahead as though encouraging him to go ahead.

Ovian glanced at Chivosi with his teal orbs. He gave the alpha a deep nod before walking into the clearing where many of the wolves were. He felt some eyes stare and he looked back at Chivosi. "This place," he said, "is good."
The dark male felt a little at home in the pack clearing area. The dens looked large and comfortable. Ovian decided, he would stay. And he would stay for a long time. There was a good vibe here and nobody seemed to cast him away yet or turn their backs on him. Instead he got greetings and nods.
"Thank you for bringing me," he said.

"Good hearts, perhaps, but not always good smelling fur covering it."
Thus Merrill poked her head from her den, tell-tale signs of just waking up from her usual afternoon nap evident in her slightly ruffled fur and somewhat drowsy tone. It was the green eyes that sharpened to reality first, assessing her alpha and the wolf at her side as they entered the pack's territory. It was by happenstance that she was in the midst of stretching and rousing herself at the same time, yet the busy-body beta never allowed herself too much rest time these days. Ever since Chivosi gave birth, Merrill seemed on high alert, doing almost double-time on border patrols and rescenting that which began their territory. Menelaus's absence also worried her, though this was quickly pushed at the back of her mind once she was fully awake.
"Another one to the pack?" Merrill inquired of her alpha after a good yawn and a few blinks of her eyes to clear them from the last vestiges of sleep. "I see we have broken the color trend this time. Well, welcome I suppose," she added to the dark male with a slight nod, then returned her gaze to Chivosi. "Si, I've been getting the notion that Ratrace contemplates leaving, and might I say that I could second the motion. He eats and lazes about, he's a poor hunter, and he refuses to keep up his good health. Who knows what pestilences that vagabond carries . . ."

Ovian nodded back at what he perceived to be the beta. She was of interesting colors and she was beautiful. But when she began to talk about this wolf named Ratrace he became a little confused.
If that lazy wolf wasn't going to help then he would then. He didn't want this pack to be put in turmoil over a lazy coward. He would hunt, he would do his share and more. It was part of his promise to himself if he joined another pack. He needed this pack badly.
"My name is Ovian, ma'am. I'll do my fair share and more. I'm a hard worker. I'll do it right." he said defiantly. Ovian had a purpose and he was driven. Real driven to do it. Anything to stay here.

Chivosi greeted Merrill with a slight flag of the tail, the purple beta as usual not bothering with the typical niceties of an introduction, a slight chuckle escaping her maw at the purple wolfs words. "No Merrill, no one green this time around" she answered in an amused tone "And Ovian here certainly seems keen to help you out. might give you a bit of a break" She stated before glancing at Ovian "Merrill likes to take one more then her fair share of the work around here, she could use a good helper, but Mene and I would be lost without her" She added before the beta could chime in with her own thoughts on the matter.
Turning her attention back to Merrill other news Chiv tipped her head slightly, she knew of course that some of the others found Edgar distasteful thought she'd always overlooked his strange appearance and rather foul smell, viewing him more as someone who needed looking. "If he chooses to leave then I will not stop him" She finally stated "Though I do wonder where he plans to go, wolves like Edgar are not welcomed in man areas...perhaps he merely wishes to continue wandering?" She mused, seemingly mostly to herself. Ki'Adi came trotting out of the bush in a bit of a hurry - apparently attempting to catch an errant ball of fluff who was making a beeline for Chiv, dodging about Merrill in order to do so.
"Echo!' she scolded the fleeing pup, who she saw was paying her absolutely no mind at all "You really must wait for your mother to tell you its alright before approaching strange wolves!" She sang out ears flattening slightly in apology to Chiv. "I'm really sorry Chiv!" She told the alpha, slowing as she neared the group Derecho looked pleased as punch with himself as he darted about Merrills legs and made for his mother and the strange wolf she had brought back to the pack with her. Glancing over his shoulder she saw Ki had given up the chase and flagged his tail triumphantly.
"you worry to much!" He called back to the teal wolf "Mom would never bring a dangerous wolf home"

To his answer, she gave a slight shrug. "We shall see." Simple, to the point, withholding judgement. It seemed Merrill was returning to her usual self now that she had been away from Pekko and Corvus for a time. She returned to addressing Chivosi. "Let him do as he will. It's what ends up happening regardless. He'll wander off until he wakes up dead, that one. Probably in some human dump." Who knew indeed? But the beta had little sympathy for a wolf who only consumed and didn't give back, much less one that talked to himself and did little to appear well and socialize.
Two figures approached - well, one ran and the other chased more like, and she inclined her head to them both as they made their respective entrances. "Kidi, Si-Son, calm yourselves. We have a guest," Merrill told them, lifting her legs with practiced motions as if already used to the pup darting about as he did. "Behave, little one."

[Sorry for the semi-late reply]
Ovian stood there taking in what the pack was like. So there were some who weren't so helpful and he could see the beta was very unfriendly to those who didn't contribute to the pack. Of course that wouldn't happen for him though. He was going to cherish this offer and his life was part of the pack now. The male's teal orbs watched the fleeting pup and the exasperated female chasing after him. His eyes creased into a "squint" which later they would find out was the closest thing to a smile for him at the moment.
"I feel honored to be here," Ovian said with a solemn voice. He looked at the puppy and he saw a potential in him. He saw an urge in the pup to be free and to trust all. Watch out young one, you cannot trust all who come in...
"Oh, sorry for not introducing myself to you," he said to the blue and peach female. "I'm Ovian and I have the pleasure to meet you. What's your name?" Ovian greeted. He also meant this question for the pup, but he wasn't sure if he would understand. If he did, well the pup was a smart one then. He would do good for the pack; just as Ovian would.

"It's fine Ki, it's not your fault Derecho is misbehaving" Chiv stated with a significant look to the young pup as he dashed about. there wasn't much to do about it really - pups would be pups after all and while Chivosi tried to instill in them some discipline they had a tendency to be excitable now and again as all pups did and when Derecho turned away with a chagrined look on his face she cast him a fond look before turning her attention back to the others. Making a small sound of agreement to Merrill's words - what she said about Edgar was probably going to wind up true and despite his less then savory ways Chivosi found such a fate rather saddening. No point in dwelling on it however, no one could say they hadn't tried to help the ratty wolf. Sinking to her haunches the alpha remained silent as the others conversed, allowing them to get to know one another.
Derecho let his ears flatten slightly as both his mother and Merrill scolded him, slowing his pace and padding over to sit beside Merrill with a bit of a huff. Despite this sulking however he couldn't completely hide his curiosity over the new wolf. Ovian..Derecho tried to commit the name to memory, he seemed like a serious sort to Derecho...maybe just a bit like Merrill with tat solemn no nonsense voice of his. Well that was good! Derecho liked Merrill she was strong and safe and if this wolf was like her well then he would be too.
Pale eyes glittering with the eagerness to see if this was true the little pup drew himself up and puffed his chest out so he wouldn't seem quite so young and small. "I'm Derecho!" He blurted out before Ki had the chance to answer, nearly standing for a moment before he remembered himself and sat back down. Oh Aleu was going to be so jealous..he'd gotten to meet the mysterious stranger before her!
Ki-Adi seemed much relieved by Chivosi's words, clearly the frazzled she-wolf had thought she might be in trouble for letting the young wolf run wild. Her ears flicked nervously as the male spoke to her and seemingly without thinking about it her steps stopped in a position where the Chivosi remained between the two of them.
He couldn't be a spy from home could he? No...he didn't smell like home she assured herself, nothing familiar clung to this strange wolf - and for that she was glad. That didn't mean she'd trust him, but she wouldn't run away again - she liked this place and would have been sorely saddened to leave it.
"Ki-adi" She answered the male in a soft and quiet voice.

Aleu had been working on her newest song when she began to hear the faint sound of voices. Some she recognized, like her mothers, and others she didn't. At first she had been hesitant to move form her spot, she had told her father that she would stay here, however she decided that since she knew her mother was in the direction of the voices that she wouldn't get in trouble for moving. After all Menelaus couldn't get mad at her for going to see her mother, she was but a young pup and young pups needed their mothers.
She she trotted off to where the voices were coming from. Soon she found her mother, Aunt Meme, Derecho and two other wolves all talking together. She knew the light colored wolf from the pack but for a moment just couldn't remember her name. Then the she wolf spoke and the name instantly came back to her it was Ki-Adi. She liked that wolf, her pelt was such a pretty mix of colors. Much like a song was a nice mix of words and rhythyms. She circled around the group coming to a stop beside her mother, then sitting down she looked up at Chiv with a smile on her maw.

Another pup? Perhaps it was Chivosi's daughter as well. He dipped his head in acknowledgement to the young pup. "I see that newcomers are.." he paused,"most interesting to your pack." Ovian noted these names in his head. Chivosi, Ki-Adi, Derecho...and Edgar..but what is her name? At this he looked at the purple beta. She looked stern and serious, a lot like himself perhaps, but inside the male thought that they both had some laughter and fun in themselves. He would have to find that soon or he would be as solemn as a rock. And well, that wasn't so wonderful and enjoyable.

"As most usually are for a normal pack," Merrill added at the end of Ovian's latest comment, wondering at the utter lack of reaction beyond the given niceties and politeness - but then, perhaps he was merely a bad actor who scrapped by on his skills for a free meal and home. Ever the suspicious one! It was good that the pups were closer to their her and their mother than to the newcomer. Ki-Adi, nice as she was, didn't seem capable yet of keeping up with the two; but of course Chivosi probably felt bad about having the one beta keep up many duties, hence giving the shy and bright-pelted gamma the equally difficult task of watching them. It didn't seem a good fitting to Ki so far though, she observed. Too quiet, like that purple omega.
Without fail their group was quickly joined by Derecho's sister who looked, characteristically, ready to flit off and go back to singing. "Aleutian Ballad," she introduced as the pup encircled them once and plopped down by her mother, "one of the alpha's daughters." . . . Ah, she'd forgotten to introduce herself as well! This wasn't like her to forget somethign so simple; probably the sleep clouding her mind. "And I am Merrill. You must be tired by now. We have several empty dens you can choose from up ahead."

He nodded and thought to himself, Merill. A very wonderful name. It's a strong name. The name was locked into his mind and his eyes swayed to the pup. His eyes creased into his "smile" and he said, "Hello Aleutian." Now that was an interesting name. Aleutian Ballad. The pack seemed to have quite interesting names and he was intrigued about who the other wolves were and what their interesting names could be.
"Ah, yes, I suppose. I'm very use to sleeping little so some rest would do be some good." he replied to Merill. Ovian looked around and scanned the clearing. He could see a couple of other wolves glancing at their own dens. Of course they were protective. This was a home, something to be protective of. There wasn't any other reason, well, except for the fact that this was probably one of the only packs who accepted everyone.
Soon he spotted an empty looking den. It looked small and cozy and he thought to himself, Good. Not too big, not too small. Besides it wouldn't do him any good to get a large den. Ovian didn't plan to sleep in his den very often. The male wasn't very much of a sleeper. He had this sense of awareness all the time. Even during his sleep, the dark colored male could feel the wind coming, crickets chirp and things tickling his body. So no, sleep wasn't usually very natural to him.

Aleu looked at the new male as he greeted her. "Hi." She said to him her in typical melodic voice that was always on the verge of singing instead of talking. "You can call me Aleu. Everyone does." While she liked her full name it certainly was easier to use her shorted name most of the time. Her tail wagged slightly as she looked among all the wolves gathered here.
She looked at her brother for a moment wondering just what kind of trouble he would get himself into today. She wasn't sure, but surely it wouldn't take long to find out.

Chiv glanced down as Aleu joined them, and managed to do so she noticed in a civilized and well behaved manner. How very typical of the well behaved pup, compared to the rest or the litter Aleu was practically an angel. Bending down she gave the pup a lick behind the ears before turning her attention back to the others.
"Indeed as Merrill said, you are free to choose any of the empty dens you take a liking too, I'm sure the others will come out and introduce themselves when they wake up - or return from whatever activity they are doing. Menelaus is off with our other two pups but I"m sure he'll be along at some point" She smiled at the male "Did you have any other questions or needs that we can attend to to help you get settled?" she questioned him

The male nodded and said, "Alright. Aleu it is. And yes I do have one question. If I catch some prey, where shall I leave it for the others to eat? Unless we all hunt for ourselves, though that is unusual to me." Ovian had the urge to hunt right now. But perhaps some lying down and thinking things through could do him some good, as to not confused his mind. Like the fact that Chivosi's mate Menelaus was off with two more pups. That made 4 pups! Of course he had heard of larger litters, but pups were always hard things to handle. Just one was hard enough for him. Ovian wasn't sure how he would be good at babysitting if he was asked to do so. Perhaps they would be kind to him and sit nicely or he could teach them interesting things. Yes that was probably what he was going to do. Most likely for sure.
Now these thoughts were of course disguised. It was hard to tell what the wolf was thinking. The red mask around his eyes covered most creases and the such so his smile was well, quite serious. The three white dots would cover frowns. His whole body was covered in disguises. Those white speckles on his front paws and the red patterns on his rump gave this impression on others. Ovian knew it was going to be hard to meet the rest on his own. It would be so awkward and the whole experience didn't fit him so well. The male just wasn't one to open up. Not yet at least. No not to these "strangers". He had only begun his life in a pack and everything became surreal.
