“Come on! Come on! It’s just a bit further this way!” Anter shouted to his partner who was sluggishly following the hyperactive Shinx.
“WOW! Look how dry it is here Flame!” [[Kouen is Japanese for flame]] The young Shinx exclaimed as they came to entrance to Foreboding Fields.
“This is the place right Flame? This is where our mission is supposed to start?” the young Shinx asked his partner as he ran around in excitement at the start of their first mission.
“Would you calm down? Geez…” Kouen grumbled as he came up behind Anter and pulled out their map and a copy of their mission assignment.
“Yup, this is it. We’re supposed to find the Electrike’s twin sister. It says here that they got separated somewhere close to the end of the fields.” He said as he put the map back into their bag and then tossed it over to Anter.
“Okay, let’s make sure we have everything we need before we go in,” he said as he got on the other side of the bag from his partner.
“Three apples…” Kouen called out and watched his partner dig through the bag, counting the number of apples they had.
“Check!” he said cheerfully as he finished counting.
“Three Oran berries…” he asked and watched as his partner stuck his head into the bag this time to count since the berries were towards the bottom.
“Uh oh…” Anter said sadly as he came up from the bag.
“I only saw two, we’re missing one!” he exclaimed, Kouen only chuckled at him.
“Anter does your head feel different?” he asked chuckling, since the third berry was resting atop Anter’s head.
“Well, now that you mention it, I do feel a bit heavy headed,” he said as he rubbed his head, knocking the berry off and back into the bag.
“Oh, that’s why…” the young Shinx said in embarrassment, Kouen only chuckled at him.
“Well everything’s here and accounted for. You ready for your first mission?” Kouen asked his partner as he slung the bag on his back.
“You bet I am!!” Anter said as he darted off into the field. Kouen sighed as he once again sluggishly followed his partner into the fields.
As the two entered, they quickly noticed that small sandstorms were almost a guarantee every so often. After proceeding a little into the field a large gust of wind kicked up some sand and it blew right in their faces.
“Aw man! I got sand in my fur now!” Anter complained as he tried to shake most of it out.
“Let’s hurry and finish this mission quickly and then get out of here before I become a walking sand ball.” He started to jog instead of walking, hoping it would speed things along. Kouen just sighed as he tried his best to keep up with him. About ten yards away from the two, an Ekans watched them and every move they made.
“stupid fools.” He hissed as he slithered away, much faster than the two he was spying on.

After a while of jogging, Kouen had to stop or he’d pass out or something.
“Anter, stop!” he shouted to his partner who was ahead of him. Anter slowly came to a stop before turning and came back to his partner.
“What’s wrong Flame?” The small Pokémon asked as he came to his now panting partner. Kouen growled a bit at him.
“Take… a good guess…” he said in between pants. Anter simply tilted his head in confusion as his partner tried to regain his breath.
“I don’t know, I give up, so what’s wrong?” he asked after shaking his head a bit. Kouen groaned at his partner’s simplicity.
“You’re hopeless sometimes you know that?” he said as he laid down to save a little energy. The young Shinx was about to say something when he paused and sniffed the air.
“EW! KOUEN!! THAT’S GROSS!!” He exclaimed as he bent down and covered his nose with his paws.
“What in the world are you-?” Before Kouen could finish he smelt something too, it was a rank and foul smelling, and it even brought a tear to his eyes.
“AW GOD!! WHAT’S THAT SMELL!!?” He yelled as he covered his nose as well with his paws.
“I take that as an insult!” A voice called out from behind them.
A couple of feet away from them slugged along a Grimer, heading straight for them.
“Guess this explains things a bit…” Kouen said as he stood back up and set their bag to the side and stood in front of it in a defensive stance.
“What do you want with us?!” he barked as his partner moved to his side, also taking defensive stance. The Grimer smirked at the two as they got ready for anything.
“Where are my manners? I’m the guy they sent out here to keep you from getting any further!” he said as he took a deep breath before puffing out purple smog of poison gas.
“Poison gas!! Hold your breath!!” Kouen yelled to his partner as he also took a deep breath before blowing out some smog. Now it was going to be a competition of who could hold their breath the longest while going through a battle.
Anter growled a bit as he got a running start straight at the Grimer as he began make sparks fly around him. Seeing the small Shinx charge at him, Grimer began to harden his body to brace for the attack. As the two came in contact as spark caught the Grimer by surprise and shocked him to the point his arm was a little numb, and the numbness was slowly spreading. Anter stumbled back with a splitting head ache but nothing other than that. Grimer smirked before he leapt at the small Shinx, planning to body slam him, but the young Shinx was too fast for him and jumped out of the way. Grimer hit the ground hard and glanced up to see Kouen getting ready to use ember on him, he tried to get out of the way but the numbness had take over his body, paralyzing him and keeping him from moving out of the way. Kouen took in a big breath of the smog filled air, trying his best not to cough from it as he gathered a little fire in his mouth. Once that was done he blew right at the Grimer and burned him badly, the Grimer couldn’t take it anymore, and he gasped. He fell to the ground gasping for air, as the air cleared up from the smog and gas mixture the Grimer slowly got up, the two took defensive stances again.
“you think I’m stupid?!” The Grimer said as he tried to stand up again.
“I know when I’m beaten, you win. The Electrike girl is that way…” he said pointing to the north, the direction they were already going before collapsing to the ground.

After leaving the Grimer, the two once again set out on their way to find the Electrike they were to rescue in the first place.
“Hey, Flame, do you remember what that Grimer said?” Anter asked his partner as they walked through the fields, trying to avoid bringing more attention to them.
“Yeah, what about it?” Kouen asked as they proceeded further. Anter stopped for a minute and looked up at his partner.
“’I am the one ‘they’ sent to stop you.’ That’s what he said wasn’t it?” Anter said as he thought for a minute, his partner had stopped and walked back over to him.
“What are you getting at Anter?” Kouen asked as he looked at his partner curiously.
“He said ‘they’. That means there are more of them out there. Something’s going on here, and I don’t like it…” Anter said as he looked up to his partner with a worried face that made Kouen sigh.
“You do raise a good point Anter but think of the possibilities. For all we know there could only be two others and plus they may have nothing to do with our mission.” Kouen argued since he had to find some reasonable excuse to make his teammate not worry so much.
“Then how did he know where to find Electrike and that we were looking for her?!” The young Shinx whined as he stepped towards his partner.
“Look Anter, calm down, I’m sure everything is okay. This is nothing more than a simple search and rescue mission. He may have just been spying on us from when we first got here.” He said, trying to reason with his partner to keep him looking on the positive side. But deep inside there was a part of him that knew what his partner was saying was right. After a while of arguing Anter gave in, he knew how stubborn Kouen got when he wanted to be and this was one of those times.
“Fine, I’ll believe you this time. But if I end up being right and you wrong, you owe me a big apple when we get back.” Anter said as he began to proceed further, Kouen following behind him.
“Yeah Yeah…” Kouen grumbled as he followed his partner.

As the two continued on their way through the field Kouen’s stomach began to growl for food.
“Anter is it okay if I eat one of our Apples?” He asked as he set the bag down on the ground. Anter came to a stop and turned around and went back to his partner.
“Better idea. Eat an Oran berry, you may have taken damage from when you inhaled all that smoke to use ember on that Grimer.” Anter said smiling as he pulled out a big Oran berry from the bag and set it down in front of him.
“Good Idea. What about you though? Didn’t you get hurt from battling Grimer?” Kouen asked as he took the berry in his paws.
Anter shook his head to Kouen with a smile.
“Nope, I was too fast for him to even touch me and I didn’t inhale any of the gasses so I should be okay.” Anter said smiling happily as he watched his partner take a bite out of the Oran berry [[minus one Oran berry from inventory, and plus ½ belly slot]]. As Kouen began to eat, Anter stood on watch duty for anything suspicious. Lucky for them nothing was moving other than them.
“Ah! That was tasty!” Kouen exclaimed as he licked his paws clean of any berry juices left on them.
“Done already? Piggy eater.” Anter teased as he went back to his partner and took the bag this time.
“I’ll carry the bag for now, you could use a break,” Anter said smiling to his partner.
“Sounds good to me,” Kouen said as they kept on going further into the fields. About ten yards behind them, a Spearow was spying on them.
“I can’t believe Grimer couldn’t beat them, that useless idiot. Well, I guess it’s up to me to stop them now before the boss gets mad at us,” it said as it began to approach them quietly as they went on.

As the two reached half way through the field, Kouen stopped and sniffed the air.
“What’s up Flame?” Anter asked as he stopped and looked back to his partner. Kouen looked around them and stared at a dead bush nearby.
“No, it’s nothing sorry.” He said as he began to walk with his partner again and they continued along their way. From the dead bush there was a little rustling around.
“Hmm, I wonder how he could smell me from this far away,” the Spearow said as he hopped out of the bush and took flight into the air this time instead of moving on the ground.
After a while more of walking through the fields Kouen felt like they were being watched again just like before and stopped.
“Anter, do get the feeling we’re being watched?” he asked his partner as he looked around.
“Hmm, no, not really.” Anter said as he turned around to face his partner.
“Why? Do you think we’re being followed?” He asked as he began to look around to.
“Yes, as a matter of fact I do.” Kouen said as he looked in any possible direction he thought they could be hiding in.
“Hey look at that.” Anter said as he looked up at a small black dot in the sky.
“What is that?” Kouen asked as he saw the dot too, his partner shook his head. Kouen watched as the dot got bigger and bigger, taking different shapes. Soon he could make out a head, a tail, and wings.
“Anter get out of the way!” he called as he figured out what the dot was, a Spearow heading straight at them with a sky dive version of the attack peck. The young Shinx nodded as he moved out of the way just before the Spearow hit the ground beck first, sticking into the ground like a dart. After a minute of struggling to get out of the ground the Spearow smirked and the two of them as they got into defensive stance.
“You are lucky you moved out of the way. I could have skewered you if I wanted to.” Then Spearow said smirking as he got ready for a fight.
“You may have had an easy go with Grimer but you won’t last a second against me!” It said in a cocky voice. The two simply looked at each other and smirked.
“I got this one.” Anter said as he stepped forward and his partner sat down to watch this play out.
The Spearow growled seeing them mock him by deciding it would only take one of them to take him down.
“Why you little!” He growled as he flew straight at Anter and began to peck him on the head hard.
“OW! OW! OW!” Anter exclaimed with every peck the Spearow made. Anter in return landed a nasty bite to its wing and began to toss him around like a chew toy. After a simple switching of pecks and bite the Spearow backed off a bit, his wing bleeding slightly.
“Had enough yet?” Anter asked as he felt a little blood drip from his forehead from where he was pecked repeatedly.
“You’re kidding right?” It replied as he tried to come back with a furry attack. The young Shinx managed to doge this time and came back at him with a spark attack. It was a direct hit and super effective due to Spearow being a flying type. Spearow gave out a yell as it was zapped over and over again by the flying sparks. He tried to stand but only fell down face first into the ground.

As the battled ended Kouen came to his partner with an Oran berry to help heal him.
“I give up, your way to strong for me.” The Spearow said as he stumbled to his feet.
“The boss is holding the girl you’re looking for captive as free labor for some reason.” It said as he tried to limp away.
“Wait a minute! What do you mean being held captive?!” Anter called out to the Spearow.
“Exactly what I said. She being held against her will to be used for free labor until some type of debt is paid back to the boss that she owes.” He said as he limped away from them as quickly as he could. Anter looked to his partner with a mad look because he was right before and he was wrong.
“See?! I told you so!” Anter yelled at his partner as he took the Oran berry from him.
“Okay okay you were right and I was wrong there, you happy now?” Kouen said as he watched his partner begin to eat the Oran berry to heal his wounds [[minus one Oran plus ½ belly slot]].
“Well now we have a bigger problem to deal with. If we try to rescue the poor girl we’ll be attacked by their boss.” Anter complained as he finished eating. Kouen sighed as e picked up their bag and put it on his back.
“Relax okay? I’m sure the two of us together can take this boss guy out no problem, it’s finding the girl is what I’m concerned about.” Kouen said as he looked back to his partner and licked his paw before rubbing some blood out of his fur.
“Come on we should get moving, night will be coming soon and I want to sleep in our own beds instead of out here.” He said as he began to walk north, his partner following behind.

Belly: -- -- -
As night began to fall over them Anter began to grow more frightened by sudden noises.
“Flame! Can we stop and make camp already? I’m scared!” The young Shinx whined as he moved closer to his partner. Kouen sighed as he finally gave into his partner’s request.
“Alright already, we’ll make camp here. Gather some wood if you can find any and we’ll make a fire.” He said as he watched his partner run off to gather some wood. In the mean time he pulled up some of the brown grass and weaved them into blankets to help keep them warm at night.
As Anter finished gathering wood Kouen just finished making their blankets.
“Here, help me set them up in a log cabin shape.” Kouen told his partner as he set two sticks parallel to each other, and then Anter did the same on top of them going the other way. They continued the cycle until it was about half as big as Anter. Kouen toke in a big breath before using ember to light the up in a scarlet fire. As the two nestled into the grass weave blankets Anter gave off a satisfied sigh.
“Ah, nice and warm.” He said smiling as looked over at his partner who was laying down his stomach.
“Tomorrow we can Split an apple for breakfast, and then we continue our search for this boss man and take him down.” Anter said smiling as his partner nodded in agreement.
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Kouen replied before laying his head on his paws and then closed his eyes.
“Goodnight Anter.” Kouen said softly as listened as the fire crackled.
“Goodnight Flame.” Anter replied as he listened to the erythematic crackling of the fire as well as they both soon fell into deep slumber.

As dawn broke over the horizon Anter grumbled and squirmed as he began to wake up.
“Morning already?” he groaned as he got up and shook the grass blanket of himself and looked around. The ground was moist from morning dew and felt nice on his fur. He glanced over to his partner and sighed to see the big lug still sound asleep. He walked over to him and began shake him to wake him up.
“Hey Flame! It’s morning wake up!” he shouted to wake Kouen up, but he also attracted the attention of a familiar Ekans as he slithered towards the two quietly and quickly. As he came closer and closer to the two, the more and more loud the sound of his body dragging on the ground became. Anter’s ears were sensitive enough to catch such a sound and began to frantically shake his partner.
“FLAME!! GET UP NOW!!” he yelled into the Houndour’s ear, causing him to jet up almost instantly.
“Who?! What?! Where?!” Kouen stuttered as the Ekans got close enough to leap out at them and locked Anter into a powerful wrap.
As Kouen saw the Ekans wrap Anter up he became filled with rage and charged him head on.
“Let my friend go right now!!” He yelled with all his rage as he went to bite the Ekans, but something was different. His mouth felt like it was heating up to use ember to the point his teeth were on fire, turning the regular bite attack into fire fang. As he clamped his mouth down on the Ekans it howled loudly and released Anter and began to try and shake him off. When Kouen did finally let go off him there was a scared burn mark left on him.
“My turn!” Anter shouted as he charged the Ekans while making sparks fly all over his body. While the Ekans was distracted trying to cool off his now burnt, Anter head butted him while using spark, shocking him badly as well as burning him. As Anter stumbled back to his partners’ side he smiled.
“Thanks for the save.” He said as Kouen looked at him and nodded.
“I think this pays off for that big apple owe you.” He said chuckling as he watched the Ekans stumble a bit, but he didn’t go down.
“Don’t think you two have won just yet…” The Ekans panted as he regained his balance and got ready to continue the fight. Anter stepped forward ad said:
“Why are you holding the Electrike’s sister prisoner?!” He asked angrily.
“Why?!” he Ekans replied.
“Because she took something very important to me and I’m not go let slip by without punishment or payment!” He yelled as he glared at the two of them.
“What did she take from you?” Kouen asked as he stepped up with his partner.
“Well it’s a short story so I’ll tell you.” The Ekans hissed as he circled them.
“It was a hot day; the sun was shining bright so me and my father decided it would be nice to have a picnic outside. We brought all our food out and left it all under a tree while we went to go get everything else we needed for the picnic but when we came back, all our food was gone! And in its place was an over filled Electrike sitting under the tree next to apple and berry cores!” The Ekans explained with rage in his voice. Anter and Kouen gave him a look that said: ‘you’ve got to be kidding me right?’ but the Ekans didn’t seem to care.
“Okay, one, why in the world would you leave all your food out in the open unprotected. Second, what in the world is wrong with you?! You’re throwing a fit over a couple of apples and berries?!” Kouen yelled at him, trying to argue some sense into the Ekans’s mind.
“Shut up! I don’t expect you to understand!” It yelled back at he came at them with a poison tail attack, but the two were too fast for him now that they were fully awake. They both jumped out of the way, Anter to the right, Kouen to the left. Kouen landed just a few feet away from the Ekans and just like before came at him with fire fang. On the other side Anter charged as him with spark, both hitting at the exact same time, shocking and burning Ekans at the exact same time. As the two finished their attacks it proved to be too much for him, the Ekans fell to the ground breathing heavily, they had won.

As the Ekans gasped for air as he laid in defeat the two smiled as each other and high fived each other.
“We actually beat him, I can’t believe it!” Anter exclaimed as he fell on his bottom exhausted.
“Tell me about it…” Kouen said smiling as he walked over to the Ekans.
“Alright now fess up. Where are you keeping the Electrike’s sister?” He asked as he looked down at the Ekans. But he shook his head sadly.
“Sorry kid, truth be told, I have no clue where she is.” It said in between pants.
“WHAT?!” Kouen exclaimed as he heard the words come out of the Ekans’s mouth.
“When we tried to catch her she ran too fast and she got away from us. I lied to you guys to make you come after me while Spearow searched for her while I took care of you. But he ignored my orders and went after you guys instead. When he failed he must have decided to play along more and send you after me, still thinking I could handle you guys. But that plan back fired.” He said before he regained his breath and then passed out.
“Well now what do we do?!” Anter exclaimed as he looked at his partner with concern.
Kouen groaned as he kicked the dirt.
“Darn it! And here I thought our mission was over!” He yelled out loud as he paced back and forth in anger, when something caught his eye.
“Hey, Anter, didn’t he say he saw Electrike’s sister under a tree?” he asked as he stared off into the distance.
“Yeah, why?” Anter replied as he walked up next to his partner as he pointed to something in the distance. Out a ways away, there stood a small dead tree, it was shriveling up and breaking apart, but it was still a tree.
“You think it’s the same one?" Anter asked as he looked to his partner.
“Only one way to find out.” Kouen replied as he grabbed their bag and the two set off for the tree.

Belly: --
As the Two walked to the tree they saw in the distance they saw the small tree become bigger and bigger. Soon enough, the small tree wasn’t so small anymore; it could have been two stories high easily.
“WOW, who’d have thought such a big tree could survive in a place like this?!” Anter exclaimed as he ran up to its base and looked straight up.
“I can’t even see the top of it!” The young Shinx said smiling as he looked back to his partner who was managing to keep up pace.
“Check around the base of the tree, do you see any berry and apple cores?” Kouen said to his partner as he watched him move around to the other side of the tree.
“Yeah, I found a whole bunch of them!” Anter yelled from the other side of the tree. Kouen smiled wider and ran around to the other side of the tree, stepping on some of the cores as he did.
“No doubt about it, she was here, just like Ekans said she was.” Kouen said smiling as he looked around on the ground, hoping to find track or something to lead them to her.
“Hey I found her tracks! And they still have a scent!” Anter called out after five minutes of searching for tracks or any led like these.
“That’s great! Can you follow it?” Kouen asked as he moved over to his partner as he looked at the tracks.
“Can my nose smell pies baking over half a mile away?” Anter asked smirking, but his partner tilted his head in confusion.
“The answer is yes.” Anter said to his partner smiling.
“Great! Wait, you can really do that?” Kouen asked to witch his partner nodded in reply smiling. As Anter did his thing with the scent, Kouen followed the track to make sure they were going the right way, just in case. After about ten minutes of following trails and scents they both came to a stop in front of a bush. Both the tracks and scent ended right at it.
“Um hello?” Anter said to the bush, to which he got no reply.
“Ms. Electrike? Its okay, your brother asked us to come save you. You can come out now.” Anter kept talking to the bush, this time there was some rustling before the young female Electrike came out.
“Big brother sent you to save me?” She asked looking at them hopefully. Both Kouen and Anter nodded smiling to her.
“Yup, and don’t worry about the Ekans that tried to chase you, we ‘settled your debt’ with him so you’re in the clear.” Kouen said smiling as he watched young girl tackle Anter down into a hug.
“OH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!” She exclaimed as she nuzzled Anter a bit before getting off.
“Okay, calm down, take a few deep breaths, and then let’s get out of here quickly and get you home. Your brother must be worried sick about you.” Anter said smiling as he watched her do as he said and then all three of them left the fields together.
