Evander blinked at the large list of names, only being able to identify one of them, and that just made him even more bewildered. "Gardenia is related to me? I had no idea..." He frowned, realizing how out of touch he really was. "I guess that goes to show how little I really know about my family... I haven't heard of any of the rest of those kids, either."
"As for being old..." The fox shrugged. "Having so many children down the line doesn't make me feel that old, just makes me feel really out of touch and like I've..." He paused, unsure if he really wanted to say what was on his mind, but eventually continued, "failed as a father a little bit."

"How have you failed? I don't understand.." Seira simply put it as she sat down next to her father, resting her head on his shoulder. Did he think he failed because he wasn't around? Because he didn't know any relatives beyond his children? She sighed as she thought about it, not really knowing what to say at that moment. Never, not once, had the girl thought her father failed in anyway ...being used to not seeing her family as often as she would like.
"Yeah, Gardenia is your great granddaughter..."

Evander was slightly surprised that she was confused by his statement. He was never around, and even when he was, he usually felt awkward and unsure of what to do. He had always assumed she would agree that he failed as a father.
"I don't know," he said thoughtfully, his gaze going out the window. "I don't really know how to... Parent. So I assume I'm bad at it."
"Wow," he added, in reference to Gardenia. "I guess I'm going to have to get to know her better, hmm?"

“It’s okay, I think I’ve failed sometimes too…” The girl mumbled and looked down and sighed, resting her head on her fathers shoulder. Feeling that way had to come at some point, right? “But that’s different.”
Seira looked over at Evander, thinking maybe that everything would be okay now and that the family would be less broken up then before. “…oh, annd you’re also a grandpa again.” warmth came to her cheeks as she looked down, feeling horrible she forgot about her new-born sons: Mitsuo and Koji.

For a moment he was unsure what to say or do; He still wasn't convinced that he had been anything but a failure, but wasn't willing to argue the point if his daughter thought otherwise. That, coupled with the familiarity and affection she was showing him, put him slightly off balance. "I guess we all feel that way once in a while," he finally said, his voice a bit gruff.
"Again?" He said with surprise and a hint of anger. For some reason he didn't mind the thought of more extended family, but the idea of those men with his daughter... He didn't like it. "And who's the father?"

She just looked at him and smiled slightly even though things wern't looking to good for her and her mate. "His name is Vier," Seira said lightly as she continued to look at him, watching his reaction. "He's been my mate for two years and the father of my first set of children as well."
The fox hoped and prayed that he wouldn't press any on how he is or how things are going cause she wasn't sure if she would be able to respond without losing it, if the questions were asked the best thing she could do was lie and hope it was a good one.

The male cocked an eyebrow at her response. It wasn't exactly the glowing review he had hoped for; She seemed to not want to talk about it at all. Trying to look on the bright side of things, he reminded himself that this "Vier" was at least her mate, and had been for a long while. At least she hadn't been taken advantage of and impregnated by some guy who was just passing by. He wouldn't have been able to handle that.
Though he would have liked to know more about her mate, she seemed nervous and reluctant to talk about it, so he let it pass with a smile and a pat on the arm. "Good to hear. How are the children doing?"

She wasn't about to just up and tell her father all the bad that was happening between them and sighed in relief when they got off that subject. Maybe someday Seira would tell him but not now, not yet at least.
"Oh, they're good... I haven't seen much of Strike, Toxxy or Koji because they live with different families but I do know that Toxxy has a family of her own and so does Saki." A smile came across the girls face when talking about her kids, they were all so different but they were hers.
