Ebony was thoroughly amused by all of Alex's reactions, yet unlike others she made no mention of the pricey nature of the pot. When you could literally make a steal from your career, things like price meant very little to you after a time. Besides, it only made sense that the Italian woman would want to get nothing but the very best for her boyfriend. Smirking, "Well that sure was easy and fast. But yes, if you don't mind, I was thinking that maybe Aphismet and his brother would like some cookbooks. A baking one for Isikoro though I think. He's the one that likes to bake right?"

To be honest, Cordelia had no clue were she was headed, only knowing that they were free to roam to their hearts content at the moment. She easily maneuvered between the groups of rushing humans without once bumping into anyone. Of course that might have more to do with the fact that she was a floating half person and that her wings look like they could cut through steel if she wanted them to.

Who knew how long it was before the younger Frei finally slowed to a stop. They were in front of one of those punkish looking stores. Delia pressed her face up to the glass display were lots of funky jewelry and clothing were. Tapping the glass she happily crowed, "Rivener!" She was obviously referring to the interesting design of a ring in the shape of what looked to be a scorpion holding its tail with both its front claws.

The woman laughed, hugging the box to her chest. "Isi? I'm not sure. Honestly, the only time I've seen him in the kitchen was to glug milk from the carton." She grinned at the memory, not in the least bit bothered by it, finding Isikoro's boyish tendencies to be a relief of sorts. The teen really was too old for his own good sometimes. "I don't think it could hurt to try, though, I bet he and Eiry could make quite the meal if left to their own devices." Alex smiled at that, her eyes slightly glossed over; images of baking meals for them herself from time to time, baking sweets...what would it be like, if they wanted to help?

With her smile softening, she nodded to Ebony, moving to the cashier. "Can I leave this here while we look? Thanks," she put the box carefully on the lip counter, allowing her to prance back to her violet-haired companion without being obstructed. "Could also get him those silicone cookware pieces, those are amazing."

Dutiful as he could be, Zul drew up behind the sharp-winged femme and looked into the display glass she was excitedly indicating. A grin lit his features, a mixture between the one he wore only for Rivener and something like excitement dominating his mirthful expression. "Yes, this is a place Rivener would like," the demon agreed, resting his hand on Cordelia's shoulder and giving her a supportive squeeze. "Wonderful, Stormy!"

The male Frei floated into the store, sky-blue eyes turning around rapidly to absorb everything he could in a glance; buckles, belts, zippers, leather, plaid, holed and patched garments alike amongst displays of dark jewelry, bright, sharp, oddly formed, gemmed and engraved. Zul half expected to see Rivener there himself, his grin taking a turn for warmth. "Rivener," he purred softly, turning towards his friend with a bright joy in his eyes. "If Stormy finds something she wants for Rivener, we'll get it," he said matter-of-factly. He just knew that when he found what he wanted to get for the Scorpion, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to obtain it.

A quiet guttural sound was produced by her at the thought of Isi guzzling milk straight from the carton like any other typical teenage boy. It wasn't meant in a sarcastic way at all, just that Ebony couldn't really see it nor did she have any real response to her new friend's memory.

She patiently waited while Alex made sure to secure her soon-to-be purchase with the cashier, something both her and said cashier (judging by the person's little smile) found a tad amusing. There were plenty of the pricey pots in stock, but clearly the Italian wasn't going to take any chances on her treasured gift.

"Silicone cookware?" With Alex by her side again, the two walked towards the section clearly marked as 'Recipe and Cook Books.' "I'm sorry, but I'm a bit...cooking illiterate unfortunately. Aphismet said he'd help me with that, but things have been so hectic lately what with Cordelia and such. Well you know..." Ebony let her words trail off there since neither one of them needed to be reminded of the physical and emotional scars still left stinging in the virus's wake. Yet...she was still curious. "How is Zul by the way? He seems well enough, but...is he?"

Cordelia beamed and puffed up with pride as Zul praised her find. If the Demon Frei wasn't careful he was going to give the girl a swelled ego, something Ebony definitely did not need on her plate just yet. Or ever if that could be done.

With that big grin still plastered to her scaled features, she followed him inside. A few folks in the store jumped on first look of them while some others, most likely employees judging from their personal looks, stared at them in awe. Zul with his bi-colored hair and near nakedness while Delia held that look of a dangerous video game heroine or even villianess, to them they looked so badass that the punk shop ought to be their shine so they could worship them. Of course, the Basilisk was totally oblivious to all of this. She was her and she was different, so what?

Giggling, the dark femme stopped in front of a bunch of unusual looking hats. She watched as a few of the humans who hadn't stopped to gawk took up a few of the items and placed them on their heads, scrutinizing their looks in the various mirrors in the store. Curious, Cordelia took up a fuzzy looking green one and copied them. She angled a few different ways before sticking her tongue out at herself in the mirror. She looked silly!

She chuckled at Ebony's inquiry, nodding. "Silicone. It's flexible and practically burn proof, makes it less cumbersome too. I use it when Zul wanders into the kitchen." Alex nodded her understanding as her friend trailed off, kneeling by one of the large shelves riddled with cookbooks of various sizes and shapes, eyes skimming the titles. "I understand. I don't get to see him much either, but - if you're up for a surprise, someday, you can come by and I'd be happy to do what I can. Can you imagine his face walking in from work and seeing the both of us in the kitchen?" She could, and it made her grin ear to ear with dawning mischief.

The feeling, however, was quickly muted at the last question. How do I answer this, she thought to herself quietly, fingers tracing over the spine of books as her eyes still sought out familiar or at least reliable titles. Alex found herself hesitating for a fraction of a second; did she answer truthfully and perhaps frighten the fairly new owner, or did she lean on a half-truth and put her at ease? In the end, the Italian was an awful liar. She didn't think her conscious would let her lie to the violet-haired woman.

"He still tells me he sees things," she said quietly, her hands finally coming to a stop, though her eyes were unfocused. "The good news is, that has nothing to do with the virus or any of that." Alex chuckled ruefully. "He's really lethargic at times, too, but I haven't figured out if that's just him recovering or because he's eating more cold than hot lately." The woman turned her head to look up at Ebony, her gaze in focus once more as a smile curved her lips. "But, emotionally...even mentally, he's come a long way. He's doing very well in that regard." She returned her eyes to the books, asking lightly, "How about Cordelia?"

Like his scaled counterpart, Zul was mostly oblivious to the stares; he simply didn't care. He was used to it on some level, and yet another part of him never really noticed it in the most obvious of times. The demon followed Cordelia to the hat rack, looking over the strange articles of clothing that he'd never be able to wear; he had his own crown that wouldn't allow for anything to cover it. He tilted his head to the side as she put it on, stifling laughter. When the Basilisk stuck her tongue out, he did laugh then, patting her back and floating behind her to the accessories next to the hats.

His fingers trailed over funky looking leather scarfs with pockets in the tips, fluffy ones of brightly colored thread with equally bright designs to normal ones of solid color or patterns. Gloves were next to them, and it was there he paused, picking up a stiff leather pair with long spikes adorning the top of it. Removing one of his own pulsing gloves, he held it between his teeth as he put on the spiked one. It fit him rather snuggly - he had more muscle than the average human - flexing his fingers in the half-knuckled lengths. "Not as nice as your hat," he commented with a wry grin.

Carefully Ebony searched the shelves of books as well, stopping only if a title caught her eye. Immediately one on soups and stews did and she picked it up to flip through it. At the same time she chuckled at the thought of Aphismet walking in on the two women just chatting away possibly drinking coffee or something all the while in his very own kitchen. She imagined him blushing and stuttering a bit like he tended to do when nervous sometimes. "I think he'd be tearing himself apart a bit trying to decipher what about him we were discussing if any at all. I have a few horror stories from our training sessions after all." Ebony laughed again and put the book back, not entirely pleased with the type of recipes in it.

She had taken up another book when Alex spoke up after a long moment of silence. Obviously Ebony had picked at a topic of great sensitivity to the Italian and she immediately regretted it. Disregarding the book in her hands, her grey eyes slid to actually face the dark haired woman. Though she was curious as to what sort of things it was that Zul was seeing, she thought well not to pry this time.

With a simple nod of her violet head, "Yes, it's good that you and Kyou were able to find a cure as quickly as you did. I shudder to think of what could have happened if things went on like they had any longer." And Ebony actually did shudder a little at the thoughts, but quickly shrugged it off as well. "Hmm...Cordelia's been sleeping a lot more lately and doesn't like to go out much because it's so cold now. I think that has more to do with her being part snake though, but I don't know. She's also been somewhat depressed I've seen. Until she saw you and Zul today, I hadn't seen much of that smile since her cure." Ebony sighed and put the book back on the shelf without really looking at it. "I wish I knew what she was thinking. I don't want her to feel bad about things she shouldn't if I can help it. I truly wonder what all this has done to her mentally and emotionally since she's so young. That's why I want Christmas to be perfect for her."

After her fun, Delia tossed the hat aside and followed after Zul. She watched curiously as he switched his own glove for another on the rack. It was interesting looking she supposed what with all its spikes, but she liked the ones the Demon already possessed. They were just made for him, in more ways than she understood just then.

Making a face of dislike towards the new glove, the black snake nodded in agreement and gently tugged the glove in his teeth free. She was going to switch the gloves again when an odd idea crossed her mind. With a bit of a mischievous grin, Cordelia slipped the glove on her delicate hand. Of course it didn't fit properly and looked like it would slid off if she put her hand to her sides, but she didn't care because it amused her. She giggled and trilled her fingers at him before floating off to another section of the store. After all, she'd wanted to get a good look at that scorpion ring from the display window still.

Alex lightly chuckled in response to the idea of horror stories of Aphismet. He was such a shy creature, two years ago - she could only imagine how the two had met, how Ebony had convinced him to do training with her, and all that had followed. "I'd like that, some day," she remarked thoughtfully. Despite her interest in the tale, it was for the story itself more than his boyfriend's embarrassment. She found the chef to be greatly endearing, no matter his predicament.

"Ah," she shook her head a little, drawing out one of the books, "that was Kyou's doing. I just did the paperwork and tried not to crawl into a corner and hide from the pain." The woman was aware she hadn't differentiated between physical or mental pain, and she didn't care to. Those were words she'd never admit to Aphismet. Replacing the book, her gaze turned upwards to Ebony as she continued to speak about Cordelia, smiling a bit. "You're right, it's likely the cold weather. Hopefully the prospect of Christmas will cheer her." The fingers traversing the spines continued. "If you're still concerned afterwards - come on in to the Lab. I'll see if there's anything I can do. We're all family in this together, after all."

The demon laughed as the glove was pulled from his teeth, a sound full of smoke and good humor. "Okay, no spiked gloves," he chuckled as he removed the spiked piece, replacing it on the appropriate hanger. His eyes turned back to her in time to see the fingers wiggled at him - in his own glove! - and the Basilisk slithered off. Zul's smile softened, his gaze unusually gentle at her back; she was still the same Raevan he'd met that fateful day in the Lab, but she was more, now.

He floated a short ways after her before the glare of glass caught his eye, turning his light blue gaze towards the displays - and was immediately greeted by a plethora of jewelry. "Wow," the demon breathed, moving towards the case and peering into it from above to see the top shelf. Zul was immediately impressed by the long clawed pieces with intricate scroll-work, admiring the hook-like claws at the ends of them all. They were in different designs, some looking like dragons while others like spun metal of a spider, but they all had a gem in them of some sort. A bright red one caught his eye and reminded him to his purpose; he wasn't here to admire baubles, he was on a mission for the perfect gift!

Zul floated a little lower to see the next shelf, and that's where he saw the first trappings of rings. An excited grin lit his features, hands gripping the bottom of the glass display so as not to touch the glass itself. There were so many! How could he possibly choose just one for his Scorpion...?

It was true, Ebony was mostly bluffing about the swapping of embarrassing stories about the white haired chef. There really wasn't much that he did that could be considered embarrassing. Sure he might not be the sharpest tool in the shed at all times, but he had plenty of heart to make up for it. The truest friend anyone could ever have or hope to have. But Alex was cut from the same cloth as Aphismet, or that's how Ebony liked to see it. She was just as caring and compassionate as her boyfriend, but yielded that strong feminine quality that the Brit held her own self to. Honestly, the two were a good match in her opinion, but that's not what needed to be said now.

Frowning, the violet vixen stooped down and placed a gentle hand to the Italian's shoulder. "Alex, don't talk like that ever again. Despite your own difficulties at the time, you found the will to persevere and do a lot more than just paperwork." The way Ebony said it, she made the word sound dirty, like paperwork was something horrible and indecent. "The Doctor couldn't have gotten a cure so quickly if it weren't for your help."

She smiled and stood back up, grabbing two books from the shelves as she went. One was a book on several popular dishes from all around the world while the other was one on French pastries and other baked goods. "Now...perhaps we ought to get that pot of yours before someone else tries to bargain for it, eh Sis?" The woman laughed at her own quick wit of word play with Alex's earlier comment of being family as she lead the way back to the cashier.

The child-like tinkling of laughter couldn't be contained as Cordelia tugged on the glove that kept threatening to fall off. In fact the smokey femme even dared to tsk her tongue and wag a finger at the naughty bit of fabric for trying to disobey her. Of course it being inanimate meant it wouldn't comply, thus the girl simply sighed and balled her hand to keep the thing in place. She'd give it back to Zul...eventually. Once she had her fill of amusement with it at the very least.

She drifted towards the window display near the entrance and carefully looked for the ring she'd seen earlier. Her eyes went wide as she finally spotted it and tried to maneuver so she could get at it, but her having only one hand to use at the moment was proving problematic as well as trying to keep her wings from tearing the surrounding stuff down or out of place. Cordelia huffed in frustration. How to get it now? Without really thinking, Delia stretched her hand out towards the piece of jewelry again and tried to will her hand to become longer. And that's when it happened. Suddenly her hand was wrapped around the cool metal of the scorpion that had just been out of reach a moment before. Cordelia blinked in confusion and pulled her hand back out, ring in tow. What she found was that the part of her arm from her wrist to half way up to her elbow was distended and looking an awful lot like smoke. Curiously, the snake poked at it, not that it did any good as her fingers went right through. Suddenly she was attacked with a great wave of fatigue, her eyes fluttering as she shook her head, trying to keep awake. Slowly, the Basilisk drifted back to her friend and leaned her head on his shoulder. She was so tired suddenly.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:38 pm

She was startled as the Brit put a hand on her shoulder, turning her eyes back up to her friend in a slightly guilty manner. Alex didn't always mean to be so self-deprecating but it was so natural that it slipped out sometimes, her words a bit crude but honest to how she felt. She gave a brief, small smile of gratitude that was as heart-felt as she knew how before averting her gaze. As much as she liked Ebony, she just couldn't take a compliment gracefully, finding it better just to keep quiet and give her thanks with her expression.

The next words, however, made the woman stand upright in a flash, turning her dark, hawk-like eyes towards the counter in a menacing fashion. If anyone was near her pot--! Belatedly, she realized Ebony was just pulling her leg, to which she burst out into soft, abashed laughter. "They wont make it out the door!" she grinned, leaning over slightly to nudge her shoulder to Ebony's. "Not on our watch!" The affectionate teasing only made Alex more endeared to the violet-haired woman, giving a small giggle before she bounded off back to her precious gift.

It occurred to her, rather suddenly, that they were two beings short of their shopping party. Putting her hands on the box of the pot, she hoped the absent two hadn't managed to get into too much trouble.

The demon pointed to one of the displays, looking up through the glass bottom at the cashier who was watching him with a mix of awe and excitement. "This one?" he inquired, righting himself as the pierced and tattered-clothed male went about unlocking the case to retrieve his indicated item of interest. Zul turned his blue eyes around the store to find his Cordelia, only to find her approaching him and resting her head upon his shoulder. His arm slipped around her partially formed back, supportive of his tired friend.

"Too much, too fast?" he inquired in his soft, smoke-filled voice, leaning his cheek against her head. His temperature raised just a bit more for her, his eyes sliding down to the display put out in front of him with dozens of rings. If he didn't find one he liked soon, he would give up and come back later, as Cordelia was his to care for--

It caught his eye as soon as his gaze swept over it, his piercing blue locking with the striking, deep red garnet. His free hand - the one missing the glove that she still wore - moved to pluck the two-tone titanium ring from the black velvet grip, lifting it and holding it up to the light. It...it was Rivener. "This one," he repeated his words in an entirely different manner, his expression softened with awe. The arm around the femme gave an affectionate squeeze, not releasing the Basilisk in the slightest. "I want to get this one," he explained to her, holding it lower for her to see, "and then we'll go back. Is that okay?"

Truth was Ebony wasn't that great with accepting compliments either, not to mention a slew of other positive like words towards the character of her person and such. But she was trying to be better about it nowadays. It was easier when you were fairly happy about your life. Of which Ebony was since gaining Cordelia and finding the girl to not be as vicious and dangerous as she had allowed her imagination to dream up.

A broad grin broke the normal even calm veneer of Ebony's face while Alex finally grasped at her means of a joke. She even welcomed the playful nudge at her side with good grace, not finding any ire in herself at what she would have normally seen as an intrusive gesture. Somehow it was too easy being around the bubbly Italian. So much so Ebony wondered if she was imagining it. Bubbly usually rubbed her the wrong way, but Alex had found a good balance in it, keeping it from being overwhelming and unbearable.

Though her mood was quickly rising, it deflated a moment when the duo walked back outside, gifts in tow. Looking from side to side, in case she'd missed them sitting along the wall benches or something, Ebony felt a tiny panic begin to creep into her chest. "Where is Zul and Cordelia? Shouldn't they be here?" Her silver eyes wild with her worry as she looked to Alex. Hadn't they told them to wait for them here?

Only an incoherent murmur slipped from her dark lips, Delia readily snuggling her blackened head into the crook of his neck. Zul must have noticed how low her body temperature had dropped, amping up his own to compensate. This is another reason why she liked, dare say loved the demon. Conversation and comprehension came so easily between the two of them. He never allowed the lack of words hinder his understanding of her meaning in everything she did.

Slowly her smoky limb pulled itself back to normal and the girl sighed into the warmth of her friend. He was so good to her. She only wished she could find a way to return his kindness. Maybe if she could make amends with Rivener (the baphomet seemed very partial to the scorpion), then that would do for the time being.

Grey eyes at half mast in a somewhat sleepy manner, Cordelia lightly touched the ring Zul held to her then and nodded. "Rivener..." she managed to mutter before placing her own choice for the Sigel on the counter. Mind muddled by fatigue, the basilisk forgot she didn't have money and that they'd ditched her woman who did.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 30, 2010 1:29 pm

Green eyes swept up and down the length of the mall that she could see; there were no floating bodies with wings in sight. The woman exhaled through her teeth, squashing any thread of ire she might have felt. It was Christmas, damnit, and she wasn't going to get mad at her charge for getting caught up in it. Alex shook her head and looked to Ebony, her mind quickly tracing each step taken from morning. "Zul wanted to get gifts for some people too," she offered up thoughtfully, again turning her eyes down the way, "so he might be trying to keep things secret."

It went without saying, but... "He might have dragged Cordelia with him." Her tone was apologetic, having no way to know it was the other way around. "He dotes on her as it is, he wouldn't leave her around, so...if I had to guess..." Who would he get a gift for first? Her or Rivener, likely. "Let's just walk up and look into shops that you think either of them might be attracted to. They wont be hard to miss." The Italian offered up a friendly smile, not even acknowledging the fact that she could have potentially been angry. "They're kids. As long as they aren't wreaking havoc, I'm pretty sure they're just having fun with each other."

Only when the smoke reconnected did the demon notice it. Either because she was wearing his glove, or he'd been slightly desensitized after seeing her as a raging plume of smoke before, he hadn't seen it immediately. Zul tilted his head, worry momentarily creasing his dark brows. He had to take care of his Basilisk. "Stormy looks very tired," he murmured softly, drawing her that much closer and lifting his temperature to keep her comfortable once more.

His blue eyes turned back to the rather pale and wide-eyed clerk, giving the youth a winning smile. "May we come back? I think...I need to get her to her Ebony." The demon didn't know if the clerk understood or if he was just nodding dumbly because there was nothing else to do, but he took it as a positive sign, an acknowledgement that he wouldn't rid of the rings in their departure until they could return. Turning his head, he ghosted his lips over the female's brow, turning towards the shop front and beginning to float out.

Rivener wouldn't like that his gift was put on hold for a moment, but he had an obligation towards Cordelia, unspoken but understood. With one arm around her back and his free hand lightly holding her opposite arm to keep her close, he poked his tri-horned head out of the store, looking up and down the mall much as his woman had been doing moments before. "Don't worry about the ring," he spoke softly, more an automatic reassurance than anything, "we will come back."

"Yeah well, okay. As long as Zul's with her then I won't worry." A lie obviously since the Brit was already worried, but she would gladly play pretend if only to save face in front of Alex. Something she hadn't done well back when the Raevans were sick. Something she wouldn't allow her to see ever again if Ebony could help it.

Readjusting her bags, Ebony just started walking in the direction they were already facing. Hopefully their charges had floated this way and not the other. "I'm sure we'd know if they were wreaking havoc. Even in a crowd like this. But they both seem very..." She paused a moment in her thoughts to think on the perfect word to describe both Zul and Cordelia. "...they seem pretty composed for their age. I'd say it was unnatural, but everything about the Raevans is such." She chuckled, a fond, yet amused smile graced her lips as her metallic eyes continued to search out for their wayward Freis. "Soooo...what are your plans for Christmas? Besides getting ready for a move that is."

"Mmm..." was the only sound that Cordelia made in answer to his statement. She was tired, very tired. But why? A few moments before she was perfectly fine and now she felt like she weighed a million pounds. It didn't make any sense. Delia remembered turning to smoke before when she was sick, but she'd never felt tired after. In fact she'd felt the complete opposite, like she could go on forever in that vaporous state.

When they started drifting away from the counter, the smoke femme had a moment of clarity and protested some. She hadn't gotten her ring yet! But unfortunately, Cordelia didn't possess the strength to fight him. So with a pout, she let Zul lead her outside again. It wasn't fair! Why'd they have to leave? Just because she was a little sleepy didn't mean they couldn't get their presents. For a few minutes she was seriously debating whether she liked Zul anymore or not, but then his deep voice murmured light in her ear, a promise to return! Pleased, Cordelia nodded her acceptance of these terms.

"Mm," Alex agreed to the mention of their ages. "But then, you figure, they're born with the face of a young adult. I always thought they were smarter than us, they just have a handicap of a learning curve." They didn't get the impressionable stage of a baby and child who absorbed information like a sponge; because they were so capable of speech and understanding at such an advanced rate, she wondered if they weren't living up to their full capabilities. That thought alone unsettled the woman when she thought of Roux, but she let that pass without speaking.

Green eyes cast over to her violet-haired friend, smiling in a wistful manner. She easily welcomed the change of topic, one her mind couldn't find dark shadows to pull from. "I don't have any," she admitted after a moment, adjusting the large bag in her fingers so the grips wouldn't pinch. "My brother and his better half are coming over the night before, they just don't know it yet." Alex grinned in a wolf-like manner at the implications. Sure they might want to spend it on their own, but they were her family and damn if they thought they'd get away from her when they could all celebrate together!

Chuckling in her devious little way, the Italian returned the question amicably, side-stepping small children and not-so-small parents as they looked for their wards, "How about you? Does this change your plans?" She meant Cordelia, but maybe Ebony had planned to spend some time with the Delaran's, too?

The Frei strengthened his arm around the femme's back, now holding her a bit more closely and supportively, aware of the feel of her metal wings against his bicep. Wordless, he lead her out of the store and back into the fray of humans; this time, however, it was he that cut the imposing figure, his own bone-framed wings splayed wide behind the two of them, marble webbing drawn taut. If Zul looked like a threat, he would only smile to the idea, as he was quite welcome to the idea of being considered dangerous should his precious friend be jostled too much.

His temperature stayed a notch higher than usual, keeping Cordelia's comfort at the forefront of his mind and not giving any startled children or disapproving parents so much as a cursory glance. He had to take his Stormy to her woman, explain that they weren't done shopping just yet, and... Zul's blue eyes momentarily slipped towards the sluggish Frei he was holding onto so dearly, the barest touch of concern in his dark brows. He'd have to tell Ebony about the smoky appendage. Cordelia may not appreciate it, but she was his to take care of, no matter what.

She might disagree, but so was the demon's mindset.

"I'm sure they'll be happy to be there. Whether they want to admit it or not." She was quiet for a few moments as she debated the right way to word her answer to Alex's question. Ebony didn't want to admit to how pathetic her home life was at times, most especially at the holidays. The Brit didn't want anyone to know just how lonely and depressed she felt at times. Those feelings she could deal with, the pity of others she could not. "No, not really. The holidays haven't been much the same since my father...passed on. So it'll be a welcome change to do things up right for Cordelia. I hope she enjoys it all."

"Hey, speaking of..." Ebony pointed a well manicured nail far in front of them. She could vaguely make out the firey creme color of Zul's hair and his marble wings along with Cordelia's complete dark ensemble among the multitude of festive colors from the crowd and surrounding area.

Cordelia didn't fight and simply leaned in close to Zul. She was so tired, but little by little she felt like some energy was returning to her as they made their way through the throng of humans. Was it because of the demon's higher than normal body temperature? She did always feel better when she was near something warm, but Zul wasn't giving off near enough to make her feel better quicker. She didn't ask for more though because she was afraid that would make her seem greedy and selfish, something Ebby had told her wasn't good qualities to have.

It wasn't long before they saw sight of that ever familiar shade of violet in the distance. Just as Cordelia's dark monotone color did, Ebony's hair color stuck out like a sore thumb in all this emerald and scarlet.

A good natured laugh returned the claim, inclining her head in agreement. "That they will!" Alex was truly pleased that Ebony seemed to just get her so well, something the Italian had encountered only in one other person - the thought of which made her heart ache little, hoping Natsuki was doing well. As her violet-haired companion began to speak again, she lended her ear politely, though her expression shifted into one of understanding. "I felt the same way," she said, not realizing she might have been treading on sacred ground, "when my folks passed. B and I - my brother - we didn't really care to celebrate holidays. Funny how things change."

Her green eyes found the two just as Ebony spoke up, feeling her chest warm with relief that she didn't quite want to show the other woman. Yes, she'd been concerned, but for reasons that didn't have to do with not trusting her charge. "There they are!" she confirmed with a happy chirp, though she couldn't help but notice the way Cordelia was leaning against Zul. She looked okay, though - why was she wearing his glove? Alex lifted her free hand to smoother a giggle as the four reunited, giving the two a quizzical but amused smile. "Having a bit of fun, are we?"

The arm around Cordelia tightened reassuringly as the two came into sight - spotting Ebony's brilliant shade of hair much easier than he saw his woman. He wore a smile but his eyes turned to Ebony in silent askance, replying to his woman's words, "Lots of fun. We found things we want but Stormy got tired." Zul lightly pat the femme's side, adding, "I promised we'd go back. May we?" The demon was one to keep his word, certainly, but he had two ulterior motives: to get the ring for Rivener and to speak for a moment with Ebony. Just a minute of her time, less if he could find the right words to impart.

He didn't release the Basilisk, waiting for one of the women or for the Frei herself to make the first move. He could have held onto her all day, the warmth and light weight of her frame welcome and rather comforting, though he couldn't discount part of her make up being appealing to him. It was one of the first times Zul really thought over a relationship he had with a Raevan and wondered if it was personable of if it was bound by a deeper extension. "Are you hungry, Stormy?" he suddenly asked, almost putting two and two together: her smoky appendage, her sudden fatigue. Maybe the question would be enough to alert the women to her condition.

She was relieved to see her smokey ward back safe and sound, but frowned slight when she saw how the girl clung to Zul. It wasn't her normal affectionate clinging, but one that was more for the fact that she needed him to support her. Ebony drew closer and placed her hand against the snake's cold cheek like a mother would to a sick child's forehead. "I see. Cordelia, do you want to go home?"

Delia sighed and leaned her cheek further into her woman's palm, but didn't let go of her warm demon. Normally when Ebony asked the Frei if she wanted to go home, Cordelia would be pretty ecstatic about the idea, but this time she protested and hugged Zul's arm close, shaking her head in a definite no. She needed that ring!

Even though it was against her better judgment, Ebony agreed to take them back to the store if that was what they wanted. "Well...okay. If she's up to it, it's fine by me. Alex, what do you think?" she turned to ask the other woman. But then Zul surprised her by asking something Ebony, as Delia's guardian, should have thought of. Of course! Maybe she was so tired now because she was hungry! She felt utterly stupid for not thinking of it until now. Even Raevans needed to feed.

Those sleepy gray orbs looked up at Zul then. Was she hungry? She hadn't thought she was until he'd mentioned it. Suddenly her dark rune pulsed in a puttering response like how her stomach would growl if she'd possessed one. Smiling sheepishly, Cordelia nodded and then proceeded to hide her face in his arm, like she was embarrassed to admit such a thing.
