He laughed.
Green eyes dimmed for just a brief moment, her ears flicking back in a moments uncertainty. She honestly hadn't expected such a reaction though the logical part of her wasn't so surprised - who was she to fuss over an angeni of all things? Though she understood his laughter wasn't out of maliciousness or ill intent, she did feel her nose flush and she turned her head away for a moment to fuss with some of her wing feathers. She wasn't hiding, nope, honest!
Still, regathering her composure the mare turned her smile back up at the pair. She wasn't so much hurt by his laughter to her advice as merely startled and had no idea how to properly respond. On the bright side of things, at least she'd made him laugh, right? Right! And a spot of laughter was always a good thing. . . . no matter the source! Despite everything, it was good to hear the stallion laugh and the pleasure it brought was enough to warm her spirits immediately and melt any embarrassment she had momentarily felt.
Falling quiet, allowing Yei and Cyn to take the forefront of conversation, the mare enjoyed the rest of her soak. The heat and the thick steam had cleared her sinus and she felt her energy resuming. Truly she was most grateful to Yei for finding her and guiding her to the springs. . . the spirits had smiled upon her for the first time in a long time!
As Cyn moved over to a corner near the opposite pool, Kalila couldn't help but smile at the banter between the pair. They certainly were herdmates, the casual conversation flowing so easily from each other. Surely they were comfortable with one another . . . even with her own stranger-self plopped in the middle of the picture! But surprises came in a different form, this time from Yei, as she was referred to as Alpha.
No . . . no way! Kalila couldn't help but stare at Yei for a long moment before once again remembering her manners and swiftly looking back to Cyn. Then, not wanting to stare him, decided that the water bubbling up before her was the most safe thing . . . . So long as the bubbles and warm water didn't object, her green eyes were going to sit there for a few minutes! Yei the Alpha of Islagiatt?
And she'd been so informal with her! Ooooh. . . . to be scooped up and plopped in to the pools! First introduced to an angeni and now eating up the time of the Alpha of Islagiatt. . . . . Wow. Just wow. Didn't she look like the foolish one. . . .
And now they were talking to her again! Ears flicked and she quickly looked back up, smile resuming as her brain slowly caught on to the subject at hand. A gentleman to consider breaking an ankle. . . ? "I suppose a gentleman might consider such a thing, but of course, a proper lady might not wish such a thing either."
. . . . did she just refer to the alpha as anything but a proper lady?
Oh. . . oh snap!
Eyes going wide, she quickly added, "But I didn't mean . . . Er. . . there are all sorts of ladies and some could certainly see the humor in it!" What a weak save, honestly she might as well of just opened her mouth and shoved her hoof in it.
Her mother would have died a horrid and shameful death if she were witness to her daughters behavior. Whatever was wrong with her anyway? Was it the heat of the water, the presence of two strangers or . . . . exhaustion? The latter would be easiest to blame but that would mean she had no brain or wasn't using it.
Surely such a thing was obvious in this case. . . .
Cheeks flushed, she looked back at her curling hair underneath the water. She just needed to stop talking. RIGHT. NOW.

"Oh my, I do believe I was just insulted!" Yei gasped as Kalila spoke and then gave a giggle. It was immediately clear that she wasn't at all offended by the mare's remarks. In fact, Yei Umeko was often subject to the exasperated comments from her very own family. She had a penchant for being rather spontaneous and decidedly overwhelming in her behaviour. Her optimism and energy were perhaps two of her most appealing qualities and made her more approachable than most. She had her serious moments of course, when the time called for it she could be as grim and solemn as and disciplined individual but for the most part she adopted a more exhuberant role.
She had often been told she should carry herself in another way now she was, by society's standards, an Elder. However she had argued on many occasions that being recognised as an Elder didn't mean an individual had to become stuffy (as seemed to be the case in the lowlands). She could give sound advice, she could laugh and provide light humour when necessary and she could comfort when all else failed. The world did not need individuals to lecture and chastise, if one sought guidance they needed to find someone they trusted and this was where she came in!
Admittedly the up bringing of the young was to treat Elders with an unnecessary amount of respect and Kalila's embarassment was evident but Yei seemed otherwise unconcerned. Kalila's quick tongue and wit told tales of intelligence and perhaps a little mischief. Yei had always been a fan of fiery natures and as a consequence she completely approved of the retort even if it had been an indirect insult!
"Hush now, it's well known that I am definitely not the definition of a debutante!" She shook her head and chuckled, "On the contrary, one might say that I'm a bit of a blue stocking," she tilted her head to the side and regarded the mare curiously. Apparently, whatever was in the water was exceptionally interesting and she simply couldn't look away! "Are there really fish in there? Someone said there were really tiny ones but I've never seen them. Wrong season they always say, you've picked the wrong season!"
From somewhere to her side, Yei could swear she heard and exasperated tut.
It was probably Cyn and therefore she dismissed it.

Kalila was inwardly relieved at the fact that the Alpha didn't seem insulted by her words. How she was blessed to meet such good spirited kin! Her mother would have been appalled by her behavior, but at least those around her seemed not to mind. Heaving a small breath, the mare stretched out her wings beneath the warm water, watching as a few loose and mangled feathers detached and floated to the surface.
Well . . . .she honestly was at a loss of words. Furthermore, she felt as if she were wasting Yei's time. But before Kalila had a chance to ponder her next move, the mare's words caught her off guard. Oh no - she was being rude! By staring at the water she looked to be ignoring her guests or hiding from them and that. . . well, by all means that most certainly would not do!
Gasping slightly, she looked up and gave a small shake of her head. "Oh no, forgive me I just. . . no fish, I fear, just . . . I just. . . . well, I shouldn't have. Forgive me, I guess I'm just at a loss. I . . . I've travelled alone for so long that company seems foreign!" She admitted with a small smile, slowly walking closer to the edge of the pool.
She didn't want to get out, especially with the cooler air of the cavern. But just how proper was it for her to converse while soaking? No need for her to be a glutton and hog the warmth. With great resignation, the pale creature delicately (or as delicately as she could manage) stepped out of the pool. She looked incredibly thin now that her floof was water-logged and dripping. It wasn't easy, of course, and with gravity and the weight of her soaked mane and tail, Kalila struggled to walk properly. Even her wings drooped with the weight of the water, neck lowered as a puddle followed her.
Shaking off this much water was going to be tricky. She'd, unfortunately, have to wait for it to dry naturally and with how cold it was outside of the pools, she feared she'd be stuck within the caves for a good while. "Thank you so much though for your hospitality and generous natures, both of you," she nodded over to Cyn as well, glad that the furry stallion wasn't offended by her presence.
Really, it had been most fortuitous to crash in a blizzard!
Standing awkwardly by the edge of the pool, she looked around for a place to settle and dry. She didn't want to drag a huge puddle of water with her, but taking up the edge of the pool wasn't a very wise idea either. Knowing her, she'd shift wrong and fall back in.

Thin didn't quite cover it and Yei had to school her features into another polite expression as the fluff dissipated to reveal the tiny figure underneath. Really, Cyn Generis was a massive sort and that wasn't helped by his hair but she'd seen him soaked through and he'd still been big. Under all that fluff this little mare was nothing but skin and bones! The motherly mare couldn't help but puff out her cheeks just a touch as she regarded Kalila a little more closely. Her gaze was definitely not critical but it was assessing her more than it had done previously. Eventually it dawned on her that she really must sort this out, Kalila may not have realised it but she had unwittingly stumbled upon a mother hen.
...And this hen didn't like to let go until she was ready.
Perhaps there was a reason chickens didn't fly?
"Oh darling, you look famished!" She announced and promptly tottered towards the exit of the cave. "You make yourself wonderfully comfortable here and I'll fetch you something nice to eat, it'll do you some good to have some spices in your system," she cooed. Pausing briefly, she shot her gaze towards Cyn who hadn't really shifted much in the last few minutes; a quick glance to his chest confirmed he was alive at least even if he had lapsed into silence. "No need to worry about him either, he's not dead though he may look it. If he starts to snore just knock him into one of the pools!" She grinned mischeviously at this and popped off. Unsurprisingly, the stallion's head twisted to face the door when she had dismissed herself.
"I do not snore," he murmured huskily, his throat and nose clearing though he still sounded decidedly groggy and uncomfortable. He cared not to admit it here, but he would have been rather interested to see how a petite mare (as her voice seemed to indicate) would be able to knock him anywhere.

Kalila was a naturally petite creature, and while she was perhaps a bit thinner thanks to winter's icy grip, it wasn't an unhealthy thing. Thankfully though, she wasn't paying much attention to Yei's observation - she was too busy trying to lift her legs and move. It was difficult dealing with as much fluff as she possessed, and while it kept her warmer in winter and could look beautiful when dry, water was its bane and doom.
Step by step, she picked her way over to an unobtrusive corner of the room. A pool followed her with every step, and though she tried to shake some water off of her wings, it wasn't very easy. Oh, sure, she could flap them but that would be most undignified in her current company and it was only too likely she'd get Cyn wet!
With a great flurry, Yei condemned Cyn to the pools once more before scurrying out. For a minute the white and black mare stared dumbly out at the entrance before her shoulders relaxed and a sigh escaped. She wore a smile, but honestly felt a little overwhelmed by the day. Half frozen, then rescued by the alpha of a mountain herd, granted such generous hospitality from food to hot springs. . . . Honestly, it was a lot to chew. Yei's bubbling personality was very refreshing but Kalila couldn't help but feel as if she were walking on eggshells. Her mother had ingrained a sense of propriety in her that wasn't easy to shake. . . .
Especially around strangers!
Now all she had to worry about was Cyn. . . given the large male was quiet and holed up opposite of her. Still, a small smile crossed her features as the male spoke up. "And I don't kick acquaintances in to pools either," she beamed lightly, green eyes bright with good humor. After a minute with a small chuckle, " . . .friends or family either, for that matter."
Even if she felt any inclination, the mare couldn't imagine taking on a soquili like Cyn. "I'd probably look ridiculous if I tried."

"I would suspect that you may very well look the fool if you did," Cyn agreed softly, his head tilted in her direction and his ears swivelled to indicate that his attention was on her. Those who said that eyes and a gaze that held another's were necessary to indicate such things were idiots. Up until this point Cyn had done well merely by turning his head and few had claimed he was being inconsiderate. Admittedly they might find him intimidating and opt not to say a word, but for the most part he had heard no complaints and the herd he had grown accustomed to were aware of his handicap. Well, it wasn't necessarily a handicap and he could have cut his hair to see again but he would rather not given what awaited him if he opted to follow this path. There were very few sane individuals in the world who would care to see those before them die and if they did, then they were certainly of a more questionnable nature than he.
"Unless the individual you chose to push played along," he continued after a small pause for thought. It wasn't exactly an offer to play on a personal level, but it almost inferred that the stallion wouldn't have been against acting in such a manner if it was called for. He may have had a serious set of duties to attend to and a horrendous cold to boot, but he did have a sense of humour! This in mind, his brow did furrow beneath his mane as a thought did come to his head, he hadn't really considered himself to be a practical joker but Yei had made a valid point. The mare nearby him was uncertain, uneasy and uncomfortable to some degree despite the Alpha's attempts to lighten the mood.
Did she feel pressured by something?
"In fact, I am of the opinion that Yei Umeko would be more than impressed to see you take matters into your own hooves," he leaned in a little in a conspiratory fashion and flashed a rather wicked smile. It was quite the feat for one who couldn't reveal his eyes but his grin was boyish enough to speak for itself. "That in mind I wonder if you would be adverse to tossing me into the pools whenever I hear her approaching?" he may have sounded just a touch stuffy, but his words were genuine and designed to coax her out of her shell just a little. It wasn't often his job to make it easy for an individual to fit in, Yei tended to do a rather good job of this herself. However Yei's exhuberant manner hadn't been as successful this time round and perhaps it was down to his presence - he seemed to have a knack for intimidating others merely by his size.
"Rest assured you would require little more than a slight nude, I have faith in my theatrical abilities, falling into a hot spring isn't the most difficult thing in the world..."

Kalila blinked as she followed the stallion's train of thought. Was he honestly suggesting that she push him in!? Her green eyes went wide with surprise, completely taken aback by the knowledge that the angeni seemed to desire her to play along. Oh bother. . . Her mother, though a kind and gentle mare, had been full of propriety. The herd Kalila had been born in had been borderline stuffy, which is why her inquisitive and questioning nature had often caused her trouble as a filly. So to be asked to take on the role of co-conspirator, against the Alpha of the herd, no less. Well. . . . it was a bit surprising and left the wheels of her mind spinning wildly.
No good girl could do such a thing, even if it was nothing more than a joke. It wasn't proper, and yet, it wasn't proper to dismiss the gentleman before her either. He was an angeni of all creatures, and had been nothing but pleasant. To dismiss his idea wasn't right either. . . . and Miss Yei had told her to do such a thing. Furthermore, the idea was rather silly and Kalila couldn't help but grin at the thought. The girlish streak within her wanted nothing more than to do it, to go along with the plan that would leave her mother reeling.
Her damp wings shuffled a bit, the drying mare falling quiet as she thought of the pros and cons of the deed. In the end, fun and entertainment won over propriety. "But are you sure you'll be all right? I know you've a cold and all, I'd hate to exacerbate the situation. And Miss Yei won't be upset or offended if she realizes our plot?" She just wanted to be sure, taking a few steps closer with the faintest smile upon her features.
". . . . because to be perfectly honest, I think the idea is rather splendid. . . provided you won't drown after getting water logged." It was almost a tease, but she could relate. He had more hair than herself and it was difficult for her to maneuver in such conditions. Mind, he was bigger and far stronger than she, but still . . . hair was hair, and his was doubly thick with twice as many feathers. "I will not be responsible for your drowning," she stated, at first seriously before falling in to a small charming giggle.
She really couldn't help herself. She'd never been in such a conspiratory plot since she'd been nothing more than a filly. Furthermore, the thought of her pushing an angeni in to a pool over some silly reason was entertaining.

Spontaneity was something the Angeni left by, his wanderings were always erratic and his destinations were always unplanned. However, if there was one thing that the stallion rarely was, it was childish. Events like this were virtually unheard of within his immediate (if adoptive) family, but even he had his moments. There were occasions when he could rise to the challenge and if an individual were to instil an idea in his head then he wasn’t one to disregard it without good reason. One might have said that fever was playing a rather important role in his decision making this afternoon, but the opportunity to channel his inner child after so many years of melancholy was too good to miss. Despite her concerns the Angeni was confident that he would be absolutely fine, he had endured worse tumbles than a simple stagger into a hot spring. With all this set firmly in his mind, his brows lifted beneath his forelock.
“I sincerely doubt that you will cause my cold to progress into pneumonia,” he smiled reassuringly, the corners of his lips creasing upwards ever so slightly. “Rest assured I am more healthy than that, though should the fates lose favour in me I will take full responsibility for any and all illnesses that befall me as a consequence of my own actions,” he conceded. It was a touch wordy and he hadn’t intended to be quite so officious but the meaning was clear – propriety be damned, he was a big boy and could accept the consequences of his actions. He’d be miserable, would declare he had the ‘man flu’ and would receive very little sympathy for it but when he’d recovered he’d probably look back on the entire prank in amusement.
...Her mother could hush, it wasn’t as if she was there to witness the ‘deplorable’ act!
“And the pools aren’t deep enough for me to drown,” he confessed sheepishly, making reference to his rather staggering height. He wasn’t a mutant in height by any means – in fact Kiyoshi was a good foot taller than he, but he was a large creature and some might have joked that he could even touch his hooves to the ground in the deep ends. He couldn’t of course, none could unless they were a giraffe of some description but he’d ensure he fell in at a location that wouldn’t end up in broken limbs, drowning or any other form of accident. He drifted into silence for a short while as he mused over her words before shaking his head just a touch –
“If there is one thing she will not be, it is offended,” he replied. After all, Yei Umeko had demanded the mare knock him into the pools in the first place, prank or not she would be delighted to find that Kalila had broken out of her shell for a split second... and Cyn would receive the bath he was craving. All in all it benefited both of them, she would be able to throw caution to the wind and be a little daring now that she was aware of his support and he would be able to soak for a short while without seeming rude. “Now I assume that with your concerns alleviated you would be perfectly happy to partake in this small trick?” he swivelled his head round to point towards the cave entrance before leaning forward ever so slightly, his mane tumbling down to weight his head closer to the ground. “Because one might say we must act quickly, I hear her drawing near...”

All right. They would do this. This little trick was going to happen and . . . and gosh darnit she would get a good laugh out of it. Provided she could hold a serious expression while Yei 'witnessed' the entire event.
Or at least the tail end of it, where she knocked the angeni in to the water.
Oooh, her mother would be shocked but her mother wasn't here and there was no reason Kalila wasn't going to relax a little and enjoy the most pleasant and outgoing company that received her. It was the absolute least she could do, after all. If the handsome angeni wished to be knocked in to the waters, well, the little lithe wind could oblige. It wasn't everyday she was blessed to be in such a situation and how many winds could state that they were given the ability to 'take on' such an impressive creature?
Oh yes. . . The pale mare was more and more delighted by the prospect the longer she was allowed to think on it. Of course, upon Cyn's comment that perhaps they best take action soon, it jerked Kalila in to movement. Giving her wings a little shake, she carefully trudged forward with a smile upon her features. "Pick your poison then, my fine sire. . . Pool number one, pool number two, or pool number three? I will happily oblige to push you in whichever of your choosing."
Trying her best to delicately approach, it wasn't easy. The rocks were a bit slick and added to her bedraggled appearance and thick locks still dripping, she had to be extra careful. The point of this was to push Cyn in. . . not fall in herself!

Cyn Generis could hardly be described as the most outgoing or spontaneous but he certainly had his moments and this was one of them. Let the tenderhearted and sheltered soquili be surprised at Kalila's behaviour, she had been invited and had nothing to be ashamed of. Had she been so fiesty as to do it the moment Yei had said rather than awaiting his invitation then perhaps things would have been different. As it stood, the mare had been the definition of good grace and manners... It was time to lighten the mood. She came off as stiff and uncertain, a personality that didn't suit these slopes or herd at all (unless you were a certain heir). There was a good chance that she would have fun with this, entertain both herself and those around her and all he needed to do was get wet. It was the most simple sacrifice any individual could have made, Angeni or not!
Admittedly there would be those that stared in horror at the mere thought of being so 'disrespectful' towards an Angeni, but this ancient creature had graced the Kawani with his presence for long enough to hone his sense of realism. He was definitely graced with an inate power, a staggering strength that the spirits deemed him worth of but this did not mean he was 'above' anyone else. If anything, as an Angeni he was bound in servitude to the earth bound soquili, destined to watch over them and to guide them in whichever way was most appropriate. He was not there to rule or enslave and he certainly wasn't there to inform them of how to live their lives - Cyn Generis by definition intervened when necessary and even then he was ridiculously vague.
That was his focus and reason for existing.
He would have been the first to agree with and to support Kalila after she had taken such a plunge. The fact she had risen to challenge and performed admirably would have been something he would applaud. Let the masses gawk in horror at her cheek, if he enjoyed it then it didn't matter to anyone else - frankly it wouldn't have mattered to anyone else anyway. A personal decision was just that and he often found it irritating when creatures placed him on a pedestal and forgot what an Angeni was really for. It was a lucky thing that he hadn't left any of this go to his head, the world had enough Angeni with foul egos! It was no wonder they could never get home...
"I am more partial to a roulette on these occasions, than I am towards being decisive," he canted his head to the side and smiled warmly. At the moment he sounded like a stuffed him soquili, made even more adorable by the shaggy dog appearance but this certainly wasn't intentional. "Surprise me."

Kalila had never met an Angeni before, though she did recall hearing legends of the great creatures. And surely, Cyn Generis was indeed very great. He was large from head to foot with wings and feathers and thick fur. Honestly, she had no idea how one was supposed to react around the creatures, but seeing as he was as friendly and amicable as Yei (if not as in-your-face-overwhelming) placed the pale mare at ease.
It also helped he seemed to know how to have fun and a great sense of humor. It was good for the mare to shake off some of the bonds of formality and relax. To let her hair down, figuratively speaking. She'd travelled so long by her lonesome it was very refreshing to meet such a fun herd.
Yei was not at all like the alpha in her herd at home. She wasn't too-good or high-ranking and stuffy, oh no. Yei was fun and energetic and incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Yes, Kalila was very glad she got half-froze in these particular slopes and the longer she got to know the pair, the more delighted she was becoming.
The spirits had truly blessed her this day.
Giggling ever so softly, Kalila took a quick peek around the pools. "Here," she added, picking her way over to the third pool closest to where Cyn resided. "Seeing as my instructions were to kick you in a pool only if snoring. . . It would make sense I'd do so here." Upon reaching Cyn's side, Kalila couldn't help but feel terribly small. He was much larger up close than she'd realized, and his hair was even more luxerious and thick than her own! What a poor fellow. . . for as much as she enjoyed her long locks, she also knew the hell they could have on a soquili.
Ears straining for the sound of Yei's approach, the mare did her best to practice a serious expression. The timing would of course have to be perfect. . . . Oh, this was absolutely delightful and horrible all at once! Kalila loved it. She wasn't the pranking sort so this harmless joke was rather refreshing. Especially with as good a humored as the stallion before her and the Alpha of Islagiatt!
"You're in trouble now," she teased, voice a mere whisper as she waited for the right moment.

"Who'd have thought it?" he murmured softly into her ear so as not to be over heard. He was often in 'trouble' so to speak, his duties led him into questionnable territory. However, he was often philosophical about the whole thing and had come to the conclusion that a risky job meant that what others considered trouble, was normal to him. A skinwalker here, a kalona there - they weren't the most beneficial of positions to find himself in and yet he acted with well practised calmness. He dealt with old and young alike and more often than not, the situations he found them in would be the definition of trouble to their parents. Alas, it was a strange world but he could appreciate that for one his age 'trouble' shouldn't often arise.
Nevertheless, aware of his role in this little escapade he released a low rumble in his throat before sucking in a quiet breath. A few moments later he exhaled, a pause and then a soft inhale accompanied by what could only be described as a snore. He wasn't a great actor but there were benefits to having hair that completely hid one's facial expression. If no one could see the crease of his smiling eyes then they would know no better! He wouldn't profess to being a genius as he hadn't come up with it, but he knew of the benefits.
Schooling his lower facial features into a neutral expression, he slowed his breathing and waited patiently for the inevitable collection of his body to the water. Stuffy head or not, he was rather looking forward to the prospect of the warmth water embracing him, if he'd led a more tempered life and hadn't been sworn to duty by the heavens then he may even have led a life with humans - they had warm blankets and right now there was nothing more that he would ask for!
Given he had lapsed into silence, it was much easier to hear the faint 'clop' of hooves against the rocky ground. The approach of the Alpha was drawing ever nearer and eventually the echoing would start as she bustled into the cave.

Kalila had to duck her head as Cyn began to snore. Her green eyes radiated with delight as she studied the large angeni, one who looked indeed as if he were napping. His snores sounded real enough, and the mare found a growing excitement. Ah, but she had to look serious and calm. Just as the stallion schooled his own features, Kalila took a deep breath and calmed.
She had to look serious about this, after all, for this was quite a serious matter. The Alpha had told her to push him in to the water should he snore and as such Kalila was going to follow orders. Snoring was not a becoming trait, after all, not that she thought Angeni's often worried about their appearance or grace. Besides, he was suffering a cold, and as such sometimes it was difficult to breathe.
Still. . . Kalila made sure she would be unforgiving. Or at least unforgiving until the joke played off. White ears swiveled as the clip-clop began to grow louder, echoing in to the cavern. Waiting for as long as she dared, until she was certain she might be spotted the female did her best to act put off.
"Well I never," she huffed, giving a snort. Pushing herself forward, she feinted a shove against the angeni, her own wings half-flaring at the "effort". He was too big to 'kick' so she figured a push would have to do. Even if he was technically far too big for her to push in . . .
The rest was up to Cyn, of course, though as the stallion took his cue Kalila found herself strangely reminiscent. The angeni was very soft and yet there was strength beneath all the fluff and wings. In fact, there was something appealing to the moment connection, enough to cause Kalila surprise. It felt almost . . . . . like a dream . . . . or at least one she might have had before.
Oh, but she was being silly, wasn't she? Kalila didn't dare look at Yei and instead frowned at the pool in which her victim had entered.
((I assume Cyn got 'pushed' in but didn't want to write over ya. . . ; ) Her thoughts were more of a split-second feeling, I'd imagine just as he was falling in. *chuckles*))

The 'splash' was unmissable, it should have been regarded as a tidal wave as the angeni misjudged his own landing and hit the water far harder than he'd anticipated. He was initially submerged beneath the bubbling spring but after a few moments he reappeared on the surface with a disgruntled snort and gave his head an almighty shake. The force alone sent water across the cave in a wide arch but it was required, only this type of strength would realign his hair and force it to tumble back over his neck rather than across his head (lest he look like an equine version of cousin It).
The noise was enough to make Yei move faster though and she gave a startled gasp as she rounded the corner to be greeted by not one, but two soggy soquili. She hadn't yet noticed Cyn's peculiar expression, nor had she taken note that even seeing his expression was a turn up for the books. Rather, she was absolutely staggered by the fact that the demure mare had taken her advice and gone for it. She'd lived for the moment and she'd dismissed those silly ideas of rank just long enough to throw her cares to the wind.
"Oh my, he really did snore!" she gave a small giggle and deposited the various roots at her hooves. It was only then that she surveyed the damage, between the now glistening cave floor and the fact that Cyn's forelock had been completely plastered to his cheeks rather than across his eyes. "Oh my, Cyn did anyone ever tell you that you have the most startling silver eyes?"
"Once," he replied hoarsely, not tearing his eyes away from Kalila.
"Ooooh really?" Yei still hadn't registered the odd expression on his features just yet, he seemed as though he was going to be sick. That queer look an individual got when something wasn't quite right. "What was she like?"
"She's dead," he replied flatly and narrowed his eyes. "Just like this one..." he murmured coolly, all trace of humour gone. It was only with the shift in voice that she cottoned on and furrowed her brow.
"Come again?" she glanced between mare and stallion, Kalila didn't appear to have done anything at all wrong and Cyn wasn't the sort to hold a grudge if a prank were pulled.
"...You have been helping a ghost, Yei."

Kalila had been pleased by the result, though like Cyn, she hadn't expected him to hit the water so hard. The pale mare took a few hops back to avoid some of the water, but her eyes instantly fixed upon Yei. The smile that threatened her features was swiftly stifled as she made sure to put on her most solemn face. ". . .it had to be done." She stated with an air of gravity, though her green eyes sparkled with mischief and good humor. "Snoring is such a ghastly trait," she added, looking over at Cyn with a fake-air of propriety.
Her mother would think so. But Kalila was not her mother.
The pale mare was quite taken with the elusive gaze of the angeni. His eyes were indeed quite bright and very lovely, if she did think so herself. It was a shame he hid them from the world, but to each their own.
She almost wanted to question how his spiders fared, but such a concern was pressed to the wayside when the angeni's tone took on a very odd change. Her ears pricked, and she stared rather dumbly at the angeni. Her gaze wasn't challenging, but worry began to run its course as he continued to speak.
Dead. Just like this one. . .? Was he honestly referring to her. . .? Surely this was some jest, some game. . . and yet his voice was completely devoid of humor. The sparkle of mischief in her own gaze shadowed and blew out completely, confusion taking its place.
Uh-oh.
Maybe he'd hit the water too hard or . . . Oh bother. Somehow something had happened and a strange air of awkwardness was beginning to overwhelm the little caves. Of course, Kalila didn't understand Cyn or his powers of sight, so she tried her best to shake off such a statement. "Ah . . . I know I harbor a pale coat, but rest assured I am neither dead or ghost like. If I were though, I do believe someone didn't give me fair notice."
At this point, she didn't believe the angeni to be serious. He looked serious, and the way he stared at her made her feel terribly self-conscious and almost ashamed. It wasn't a very pleasant feeling and Kalila wondered where this change came about.
