He gave her a sort of sideways glance, not really bothering to put his -full- gaze on her...but at least he was paying attention?
"I suppose...." Was that...a smile? A genuine notcockyforthecameras smile? "...Though this of course means you're going to have to go through real Wawanakwa life. Not any of the pampered camper stuff dude."

She was absolutely dead silent for a moment- blinking once, twice. Eyes widening, she returned his NOT bastardy smile with a non-psychotic one of her own- (which was very pretty, she had been told before. By her mother, of course, but that was beyond the point)- and laughed. A bubbly, genuine sort of thing- the way Atlas would laugh were the world taken off of his shoulders. Eyes watering ever-so-slightly, she seemed entirely impassive in complete happiness. God. She didn't have to WORRY anymore. She'd probably be scrubbing toilets and eating dirt, but at least she wasn't on the streets. A lumpy, half-tattered mattress was better than no mattress at all. Wiping slightly at her eyes, she kept smiling.
"Thank you so much, Chris..." Annabel murmured quietly, attention returning to him from her own personal appearance. Acting entirely on impulse and without a ration of thought, she leaned forward just the slightest bit, and..
...hugged him. Considering Annabel's nature, it was a bizarrely intimate- and very friendly- gesture, extremely and entirely out of character. But god, she didn't care at all right now. She could see, in some strange way, how Chris might be God to the little interns and Pygmy Rat b*****d Clones.
God. She was going to be ok.

"HEY CHRIS-MAN!"
Where there was a host, his side-kick and underpaid cook and co-conspirer wasn't too far behind. Unless he was left behind on purpose which happened a lot when it came to Chris being asked to host this show or that, leaving Chef to his own devices on the island. Sure, there were the interns and now Dude and Sweeps to keep him more than occupied, but Chef had his fill of the latter two for awhile. A long while.
"DO YEW THINK AH COULD BORROW YER --" The large Audio broke off his words, staring at the sight before switching gears. "We-ll lookie here! Ah didn't think yew'd get th'new intern 'ere so fast!"
New intern? What? Hey, wait a second!
But Chef had already grabbed Annabel by then, lifting both her and Chris up and shaking the pair in order to dislodge the Belbel from the host. "C'mon yew! Yew can't go walkin' around Wawanakwa in that!" And before the shanking was done, a package containing something was thust at Annabel.

....H-huh.
He had simply -froze- at being hugged. It wasn't something he was unused to (hey, he and Chef had plenty of cuddley moments) but it was certainly not something he was -expecting-.
And so he stayed frozen, though a grin did cross his face. Oh yes, -this- he could get used to.
But all too soon it was gone, the two were lifted in the air and shaken loose, with Chris soon finding himself back on the log, now minus an Annabel. ...Well damnit. "New intern huh? Chef, pretty sure you know Annabel." Really, no introductions were needed. "And thank you for bring the welcome package so quickly dude! We can get her right to work, huh?" He was up on his paws, nudging at the larger Audio with his elbow. Oh yes, that hug had been pretty nice...but poor Annabel had one -looooong- stay ahead of her. Hahahahaha!

"I-intern..?" She whimpered quietly, the fear returning for an entirely different reason. When she'd said she'd work, she wasn't expecting stunt-testing and... interning. Oh god. She was an intern. All feelings of joy and happiness ripped from her like a puppy from its mother, she just sort of pathetically hung from Chef's grasp, dangling awkwardly. There were days when it sucked to be skinny. Writhing slightly in his grasp, she angrily pawed- very quickly turning to clawed- for anything within grasp, growling in frustration.
"Y-you PLANNED this!! You agreed to meet with me for free slave labor!!" She snarled, all the flare very quickly returning. Her wavering flail was definitely angrier now, phasers set readily to kill. Snarling for good measure, she continued to swipe out at Chris.
"DAMN YOU! You little lying DELILAH! You little VIPER!" Annabel spat, very much embodying the anger of the quote. Oooh, she was going to KILL him. MURDER him. And now, she had the time! Seeing as she'd be stuck here a while...
She really was grateful. Underneath the bristled fur and death-threats, Annabel was the most thankful little Audio the world had ever seen. It was still evident, if Chris was smart enough to look her in the eye- and the threats weren't particularly as vulgar as usual. But hell NO she wasn't going to show it. Not anymore.
"AND YOOOOOOOOOOOOU, CHEF! I HAD NO QUALM WITH YOU- NOT BEFORE- BUT HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED. MARK MY WORDS, YOU'LL BOTH PAY."

Chef didn't catch the idiotic content grin on Chris' face when Annabel was hugging him. Both of them out to be glad -- Annabel would have received "special attention" ie the honor of trying stunts and challenges before Dude did, as well as the last pick of supper. Chris, on the other paw, would have gotten a quiet sulk along with the dismaying news that the booze had been moved to the next shelf up in the intern-proof cabinet.
Either way, it would have sucked for both of them. But for now... "Heh heh, indeed we can!" Chef replied to Chris cheerfully, holding his arm out and ignoring the infuriated new intern attached to it. This... This was going to be fun!
When Annabel began her yelling, Chef tsk tsk'd at her. "Nao, nao," he rumbled, "Yew should feel privileged. Not every intern gets their own cellphone! Why, Dudes'n'Sweeps don't have one either! Yew should feel proud, 'cause you've got benefits the others don't." Like new intern clothes. The other interns had to WORK for those!

Speaking OF Dude he was out of the water again...
And suddenly danced by, doing some jerky horrible 'dance' that looked like a mixture between Lady Gaga videos and something from Metropolis.
Screaming intern? Didn't phase him one bit.
"Hey, you didn't think I'd let you stay on Wawanakwa for nothing now did you? I -told- you the only people still around were us and the interns! What else did you expect to do hrmmm?" Was he smiling? You bet he was! Was it that typical smileforthecameras smile Chris always used to have? Damn straight it was! He sure didn't wake up this morning expecting this...but the day sure had turned out pretty amazing.
"I dunnnnnoooo, I think you still dig me, and still love this place. No matter how much you complain and fight, just you remember...you came to us dude. No one to blame but yourself!"
And then Chris was clambering to his favorite place to sit.
...Which was, of course, Chef's shoulder. At least there was -one- good part to being small. He felt like a king up here. Ha!

"Dig you?! My a**. The only thing with Dig and You in the same sentence that I'd care for is digging you a grace!" She snapped, still trying to get at his throat- which was considerably more difficult, seeing as he'd moved up and out of her previous range attempts. Besides, it was kind of hard to threaten someone on the opposite side of the God-knew-how-tall mountain of an Audio. Growling quietly as a sort of concession, Annabel crossed her arms with a 'humph', looking pointedly away from both the Host and Chef. Damn them both. She knew about the interns' treatment... and god, if that wasn't a frightening thought. Fur bristled and ears flattened, she continued to swear quietly to herself, apparently no longer up to conversation. She wasn't going to turn away a free home, oh no- but no way in HELL was she going to be nice to Chris. No, if it was the last thing she did, she'd make him miserable. Only more subtly. Besides, now? She had full-time island access. No creepy cameras watching her every move. And maybe the trailer hadn't moved..
Flicking her tail once in annoyance (though she would admit, a hint of glee at the prospect of her own subtle genius), Annabel fell to silence now- out of insults to continue throwing at the two. Taking the opportunity, then, Annabel quietly contemplated just how exactly she was going to pull this off on her own. Last time, she'd had Ratchet, but now?
This was an entirely different game.

Chef peered at the intern, then shook the arm she clung to again. Dig Chris a grace? Didn't she mean grave? Must've taken too many hits to the head while being shipped here! He ignored Chris as he climbed to his position. Honestly, as long as the Chris-man didn't try to install a seat there, all was fine. At least he gave up the idea of making him wear a smaller backpack-trailer!
But now what? He had a host on one shoulder, an intern in his other hand... Well, at least he didn't have her by the tail. Then she'd be yelling even more and possibly screeching and clawing even more! "Well Chris-man," he rumbled, "What now? Want me ta drop 'er off in the intern area or make Dude run her through the intern welcoming program?"

Awh, a silent Belbel wasn't a very fun Belbel. Half the fun of having her around was seeing just how quickly he could turn her from a somewhat decent conversation-partner to a hissing hate-spitting ball of fur.
Heh heh heh.
"Chef-man, I think giving Dude something to do would be a very good idea. He looks pretty bored.." He glanced over at the other, who was still attempting to dance. Attempting being the keyword here.
"You know how he gets when he's -bored-." Namely he stole things. Important things. Like the loser boat. Or phones. One notable attempt on an alligator was also made. ....Yeah, it was best to keep him entertained.
