It was comforting, believe it or not. At least he still acted like Sebby. "Um... I don't know that walking me the whole way is a good idea. One of the others staring there is... trigger-happy." She didn't want Hero to kill Sebastien. Actually, Elke wanted nobody to be killing anybody. She wanted everyone to be all right, right now.
Which would not happen. She could hope, though.
"You're a good friend, Sebby," she said brightly.

The blonde made a noncommittal noise at the notion that someone was "trigger happy", but he knew better than to ignore a warning from Elke. She was smart, in her own kind of way, and she knew how to handle the English. She was a valuable ally, and a good friend.
"I know," he responded instantly when she praised him, still grinning. Of course he was a good friend! He was French! "Are you coming?" Had he not been so hungry he may have even offered her his hand, but as it stood she was tempting enough. Besides, she had a boyfriend. (The very thought was appalling, though not because he didn't think Elke was good enough to have a boyfriend, but rather because said boyfriend was not good enough for her.)

She seemed to understand that, and tried not to be hurt by it. Giselle's lecture stuck hard in her head. How would we feel if we knew you were dead because of us?
"Avery is dead," said Elke as they started off, shoving her hands into her sleeves. It was getting a little bit cold as December approached. She thought it was December approaching. Who knew, it wasn't like anyone had been bothering to keep track. Not like there was--of course there was a point. Don't think about it, Elke. "I saw him."
Turning to look at Sebastien, she said, "You promise you'll tell him?"

"Dead?" The blonde repeated with a frown. Really? Huh. He sure had got himself killed quickly. He felt like he'd only just see the brunette and he'd kicked the can already. Well, that was one less person to get in the way of their friendship. Oh, wait. He was supposed to be sympathetic, wasn't he? Damn. Alright. Entering sympathetic mode. "I'm sorry," he said anyways, though he was sure it was definitely too late to be genuine. It was the thought that counted, right?
He was trying very hard to be sympathetic now, especially since she said she'd seen him. Poor Elke. Seeing the dead body of your loved one was hard. Thus, when she asked him to tell Avery, he put on his best serious face and nodded. "I'll tell anyone I see to be careful." Though telling a dead body might be hard, but he tried not to think about it. This was for Elke's sake.
"Have you seen anybody else? Besides me, of course." And her trigger-happy friend.

She nodded, smiling when it took him a bit to say sorry. That was Sebby for you; he tended to take a while to get his head in order. (That's what Elke told herself, anyway.) It wasn't that he was slow, she imagined, it was more like he just didn't like to think about sad things.
"Thank you, Sebby." She folded her hands in front of her as she walked, thinking about stuff. Important stuff. It kind of seemed like Sebby hadn't quite understood that she meant he and Avery were on the same plane of existence right now, with the half-dead thing. But she didn't want to bring it up again. "I've seen Giselle. She's like me now, did you know? And... I saw Hero and Aurelia. And Serenade. Also Sue, and I found Andeon's head. And a lady with orange hair, she's the Captain. I saw Fallon, too. She bit me. Well, she bit Serenade but really I got bitten. I saw Azzo, who is a jerk, and Ignacio, who made the Princess feel bad. The Princess is Serenade. Um... I think that's everyone, actually!"

She'd seen Giselle already? Damn! He should have been faster. The blonde did his best not to look entirely displeased with the world as he sauntered along after Elke. Still, if Giselle had seen Elke and Elke was still here, that meant that she had kept her promise. That was something, at least. But it also meant that Sébastien how had to one-up his friend in order to prove that he was Elke's Best Friend Forever. He was so busy plotting his revenge that he almost didn't notice that Elke had listed off a lot more names than just Giselle. Almost.
"Andeon's head is just wandering around?" Wandering was probably the wrong word to use, but the French teen was too busy taking a tally of the number of people she'd seen in his absence. Eleven people! HOW HAD SHE MANAGED TO SEE ELEVEN PEOPLE?! Aaaarg! Sébastien had definitely put on his sulking face, and was doing nothing to hide it. "You met an awful lot of people, you know. I haven't even seen three yet!"

"No," said Elke, laughing. "He was stuck in a tree." That had been sad. She still wanted to know how he got from where-ever he was beheaded into the tree. Also, she wanted to find his body, just to see if zombie magic would put his body back together. It was an Elke thing.
If Sebby hadn't potentially been fighting off eating her, she would have patted his shoulder. As it was, she gave him a sorrowful look and said, "I've been wandering around a lot," as her only explanation. It was her only explanation, as far as sharable explanations went.

The blonde blinked. "Stuck in a… Do I want to know how his head got up there?" Probably not. He had never been one for the super gory rip-em-to-pieces stories, and the fact that someone's head had ended up in a tree was pretty gross. Why Elke was even looking for his head, much less talking about it like everything was hunky-dory was beyond him, but he supposed it was probably some English joke he didn't understand.
His sulk darkened when her only explanation was "she's just been wandering around", but he knew there was nothing he could do about it. Elke would be Elke, after all. "Just try to be careful, okay? There are lots and lots of nasty-" and non-French "-people here who could hurt you. And try to avoid the heads. Heads aren't sanitary."

"I think someone kicked him like a football," said Elke seriously.
She'd kicked a lot of things like footballs. Azzo, Nacio, even Fallon once. A rock she'd found near the languages building, which had been revealed to hold more poptarts in the teacher's lounge. A poptart, once, when she was bored. But she had never, ever kicked Andeon's head. No, when she wanted Andeon's head to go somewhere, she carried him. That was the nice thing to do. "I'll be careful if you will be, Sebby," said Elke, "But I won't leave poor Andeon alone again. Hero would boil some oil and drop him in it. She threatened him with it once."
Poor Andeon.

Sébastien hesitated, not sure what the correct response would be to Elke's statement about Andeon's head. The thought of kicking someone's head into a tree was marginally funny, though kind of disgusting, but his friend had said it in such a serious manner that it ought to have been a crime. He eventually decided to go the safest route with, "That's… unfortunate."
This Andeon seemed to be the topic of choice today, and the French teen could already feel his irritation rising. At the very least he liked to know Elke's friends, if only so he could make sure that they didn't steal all her time. The fact that he recognized the name but not the rest of the person bothered Sébastien, perhaps more than the fact that Elke was only hanging out with his head. "If Hero is threatening to boil someone, I think they probably deserve it. Why are you babysitting his head, anyways?" It wasn't like heads could talk or anything.
At least he didn't think they could.
