"Naw, you can stay." came Arkie's voice from the kitchen, already bent over and rummaging in the fridge, his tail curling and uncurling idly behind him. "Nobody comes over that wants to TALK lately," he went on, snaking two beers from the fridge and pausing to pop the caps off of both before sauntering back into the living room, passing one to Aylana before flopping on the couch in an unceremonious heap with his own.
"They all come in lookin' like zombies and won't quit saying how sorry they are, and then Ma gets all weepy, and after they leave she goes upstairs for the night." he gave a dismissive wave and then drank off the first few swallows from the bottle he held.

Weepy..sorry...?
It was the same for her family, over her Aunt Lenore. One of the biggest reason she hadn't returned home. She couldn't hadn't it right now, couldn't face it yet. No..she didn't want to believe it, even now.
Slipping onto the couch next to Arkie, she pops the beer open before she takes a sip from it. Looking to Arkie, she looks back down at the beer can "If it counts for anything, I would rather not talk about crying or anything sad right now. I've had to deal with to much of it this past few weeks myself."
She fell quiet as she continue to look at the beer can, she seem not much like herself. Course, she was having to be strong for a ton of people. That alone was hard to do, keep a happy mask on, when she didn't want to.
With a light chuckle, she looks back at Arkie "So tell me about this baby of yours."

"Whuh, Addie?" he asked, looking up. "She's pretty awesome. I mean....I visited with her once and all. We played in the sand!" His chest puffed out a little at this, seeming proud of this fact. Moreso that they had played in the sand than having spent time with his daughter.
"She lives with this lady...I think Quin? Quinny? Something. Anyhow, she looks a lot like how Sati used to look, 'cept she got my ears." he said, gesturing at the smaller, rounded versions of what had once been big and floppy, in case Aylana had not noticed on her own yet.

So that was where his ears went..
She tried to picture alittle with that looked like Sati and Arkie, then shook her head. Aylana chuckles as she takes another sip of the beer "I'm glad you had fun." she never heard of this Quinny person, but she was pretty this person was a nice person.
Tilting her head, she reach out to brush a finger along his ear "I was wondering what was different." she knew she was lying, but if it kept him happy, she was all for it.

A chuckle vented from him....not the usual raucous laughter that he was known for, but better than the cranky, pouch-eyed wraith that had greeted her at the door.
And then he reached out in counterpoint to mess with one of the tiny gray wings that protruded above her ears. "At least you got to keep some of your bits." he teased. What were wings that little good for, he wondered? Maybe in the summertime she could flap them really fast and stay cool.
....man, now HE wanted headwings.
Instead, he had snails that expressed their dislike of the heat by clamping themselves up in their shells and cannonballing out of his hair and into whatever it was he was drinking at the time. ...which was fine with him but it usually killed whatever chances he had of following some girl home for the night if they happened to see it happen.

Lifting her hand to her headwings, she chuckles as she brush a finger along of feather. Bringing her hand back down through her hair, it stops to the two feather tied by a leather string "Yea, its the only thing I have left. I'm human beside those. No powers at all, no blue skin, no wings to fly." even as she said this, she was smiling.
"Not that I care, I have two wonderful kids. So I'm glad, and personally like being a human." crossing her legs, she takes another sip of the beer. After a minute, she looks back down at Arkie.
"So, how did you and Sati end up together?"

That question was met with his own beer being tilted back, several more heavy swallows being taken off of it.
"Hnn, Sati...." he muttered, again looking thoughtful on the subject. At length, there was another shrug. "I dunno." he answered truthfully. The line between the time they had been 'fooling around' and were 'together' was a pretty blurred and fragmented one as far as he was concerned.
"We were friends, yanno?" he said after a bit, not being able to recall how, exactly, it had all started. Recalling much of anything, given his lately-disoriented frame of mind on top of his already-addled brain, was pretty futile, really.
"Hung around a lot, did a lot of stuff together, but then it turned all weird and crap."
Another pause, save for the sound of glass-on-palm as the bottle was idly shifted from one hand to the other in a repetitive back and forth.
"....I dunno." he said again, taking another drink.

With a small nod, Aylana looks back down at beer. Friends that turned into something else, it seem to be the case with many fa'e. Then sex seem to mess everything up, and they were left upset or broken. Shaking her head, she sighs as she closes her eyes for a moment.
Stupid thing called love and sex...
Downing the rest of her beer, she coughs a couple of times before she laughs alittle "Can you tell I haven't had beer in awhile? Anyways, its good to see your at least yourself." poking him in the stomach again, she stood before she move towards the kitchen.

He flinched at the poke and then grinned as she meandered away. Having only met Lana once, and a long time ago, he couldn't really say whether she'd changed or not.
But she seemed pretty awesome.
....and on that note, he wondered if she could be convinced to stay for awhile. They could watch movies or something. Hell, he'd even play monopoly and let her be the HAT if she wanted. It was either that, or try to go back to sleep, probably to wake up in a few hours frantically making sure all his guts were still where they belonged.
Finding the bottle empty, he hopped up to follow after her and get another one.
"So where you been?" he asked, the issue of having birthed two children apparently not connecting itself to her absence. "Ya heard from anybody lately?"

Leaning against the counter, Aylana watches Arkie as she chuckles "Beside Nyoka, my son Bhel, Sei, Naolin, and a few new fa'e? Nope haven't heard from anyone." she was grinning as she shrugs alittle. It was nice just to be able to joke for a bit.
As far as where she been, well she been here. Just not around like she use to be "Mostly working on that club we asked you about. Been trying to get everything in order. Also working myself, at a local restaurant in Barton. I'm a hostess." it wasn't a good job, but it did help pay the bills.
"So beside hooking up with Sati, what else have you been doing?"

"You're lookin' at it." he told her, brushing past to the fridge, his tail absently grazing her leg as he went.
Club...the CLUB! Right! Nyoka asked him to DO stuff there! ....and then he'd not heard anything since.
"Hey! Do you guys still need somebody to like....um....make the drinks? ...or something?" he asked, looking over his shoulder at her hopefully in mid-scavenge of Karma's refrigerator.

Well it was good to know he was still interested. With a light chuckle, Aylana nods her head some "Yea, were still looking for someone to make drinks. And I'm still willing to teach you, if your up for the job." it would be nice to get back to something she had fun with.
Watching Arkie for a moment, she shakes her head as she looks away "It hard work, but worth it in the end. You can get a ton of money, as well as flirt with the ladies." she pauses then turns her head back towards him. A smirk forming as she looks him over for a moment.
"That is, if you remember how to flirt."

At this he blinked in surprise, giving Lana his best Madam, you WOUND me look, followed by a grin.
Did HE remember how to flirt...!
....not that any of his past encounters had really left much room for flirting.
Or really even much WARNING when all was said and done, but hey!
His tail coiled around her leg "Question is, are YOU up for it?" he asked, whether he was referring to learning to make drinks or something else entirely being left in the air.

Glancing down at the tail coiled around her leg, Aylana chuckles as she looks up at Arkie. Talk about a question that could mean anything. For one reason or another, she rather couldn't help but smile back at him. Pushing off the counter, she steps close to Arkie.
With a few inches between them, she push her hair from her face "I'm always up for a challenge Arkie." stepping away from him, she grabs another beer from the fridge.
Turning away, she pops the bottle open. Looking over her shoulder, she takes a sip from the bottle then licks her lip "So when do you want to start?" she would let him decide what she was asking.
She could play this game, she could play it well too.

If only he knew it WAS a game they were playing, or even how to play it. As far as Arkie was concerned Lana may as well have been waving a big green "GO" flag.
His second beer left unopened on the counter, forgotten in favor of more intriguing prospects, two steps toward her closed the distance between them.
"Right now's good." he said, not giving her time to protest as he rudely planted a kiss on her. Nevermind what Ma might say if she were to walk in on such things, given the current circumstances.
