When Runt saw that the wave had not hit the eevee, he decided it was already over. He collapsed again, not willing to move even as he saw Volpone racing towards him. The dratini just wanted it to be over, and be braced himself for eevee's attack.
Wham! Direct hit. Dratini flopped and skidded along the platform, and waited for his trainer's orders.
"Hang in there buddy!" Reiko called. "Try another Aqua Tail!"
Runt obeyed, aiming at the eevee for what he hoped was the last attack.

Volpone collided with the Dratini yet again. The Dratini didn't even move...like he had given up. But he hadn't given up to the point where he didn't want to fight. The Dratini slammed into him, albeit half-heartedly.
Volpone shuddered a bit, but shook most of the pain off.
"Alright, Volpone! One more hit, ok? You're almost done. Tackle attack!" Mikey called, crossing her fingers for a victory.
Volpone geared up, lunging himself at the Dratini one more time.

Runt was hit again, and he collapsed without any energy to go on.
"Runt? Runt?!"
The dratini tried to whimper at his trainer for help, but could only let out a weak peep. "Tiiniii...."
Reiko frantically looked for a route to her dratini that she could use. She leaped across the platforms with the aid of her cane, her crippled leg thrashing aimlessly. Reiko scooped the dratini in her arms and aided his wounds.
The trainer gazed up at her opponents, with a shaky grin. "You won this round, but you just wait!" She looked back at her dratini. "Don't worry, Runt. You can rest now."

Mikey was on the platforms too, cradling her limping Eevee. "You did so well, Volpone!" Volpone just snuggled into his trainer's shirt, murmuring quietly, happy to be done with the battle. Mikey matched her opponent's shaky grin with an equally shaky one of her own, then stood and carried Volpone out of the arena. "If you're calling for a rematch..." she said over her shoulder, "maybe next time we won't be so lucky. I guess we both have to train harder."
Mikey walked out of the stadium, straight to the nearest Pokemon Center, to heal her Pokemon so they could be on their way.
