Appearance: Ato is short, thin and pale, granting him a deceptively sickly look. His smoky grey eyes sink slightly into their sockets, and are the only part of his face visible under the bundle of blue scarves that serve as a mask that hides his scarred face--his clan's attempts at discipline. When training, he typically wears black pants and a simple black shirt fitted to his body. His feet are wrapped in bandages, as are his hands. When combat is imminent or when Ato is sent on a mission, he covers his hands with fingerless clothe gloves that provide extra grip and his feet with simple, flexible shoes. He also uses this occasion (and his free time around the vilage) to don his clan's coat; It's a deep blue, the back highlighted by a pair of white right angles intercepting each other--his clan's symbol.


Bio: Ato is an excellent ninja born to a mediocre clan, and he has suffered for it. The Kigame(Mirror) clan is a family hidebound by old traditions and rituals, its old ties to family and community perverted into paranoia and xenophobia. As a result, its techniques and fighting styles have been jealousy guarded by the heads of the family for centuries. As a child, Ato set his sights on these techniques; His brilliance was too powerful to be hidden under his clan's dogma, he thought. He discovered a few of them, and was caught. As punishment, he was scarred a number of times equal to the techniques he "stole" from his clan: two. For years he stayed quiet, his loyalty to his clan unyielding. Now, with his entrance into the shinobi academy, he has the chance to learn more of his clans techniques, become the ninja he has always aspired to be, and lift his clan from the shadows of mediocrity.


Personality: Ato's most notable feature is his exuberance; He answers simple questions in earnest, and simple pleasures delight him. He takes his path to shinobi-dom very seriously, however, and insults to his path will bring his angry, scarred personality to light. He is severely loyal and so makes an excellent friend. He is prone to moments of darkness, during which he will retreat into his mind and wander alone; The ghosts of his past still attack his conscience--was it right to steal from the clan, even if the knowledge was rightly his and would bring his clan out of obscurity?


Abilities:

Kekkai Genkai - Awaiharetsu (Roughly translated into "Explosion of light")

The combination of the clan's two elements (Void/lighting and Wind) surging through a ninja from the mirror clan's chakra system leads to a chaotic and constantly changing stream of energy that every so often melds with the ninja's blood. This results in two things: An "explosion" technique unique to the clan and a severe problem recovering from injuries normal ninjas would ignore.
The explosion technique of the Mirror clan uses the clan's ability to send their chakra out into the air on a miniscule level--much like a puppet user's chakra strings-- and perform jutsus from different directions and locations that would normally not be possible. One example would be performing a firebreathing jutsu from behind an opponent-- that you are currently facing head on. Certain ninjas in the clan are also able to perform several different jutsus at once. The possibilities of such a technique are dangerous, both to their opponents and the bloodline users themselves.
A side effect of the bloodline trait is a case of hemophilia--all members who exhibit signs of Awaiharetsu also show signs of hemophilia. This makes it difficult for a ninja to ignore simple cuts and scratches. Another difficult obstacle for ninjas of this clan to overcome is the "thread" of chackra connecting the ninja to any jutsu he performs. Though the thread lasts only a few seconds after the jutsu is completed and the thickness is less than that of a hair, a particularly perceptive ninja would e able to find them and cut them before any techniques can be completed.
As of now, Ato knows two techniques using his bloodline trait.

Haretjutsu-- Ato can extend his chakra over a short distance (10 yards) and perform a jutsu from this location facing any direction. This is often used in conjunction with his wind attacks.

Hyakuteiru-- Ato can extend his chakra and then thicken the diameter so that it resembles a tentacle or tail of chakra sprouting from his body. Other ninjas of old could create several tails, but Ato only has the capacity for one at this point.

Kyojiki no Jutsu ("Giant Breath") Ato performs a short series of seals and sucks in a breath of air, releasing a large gust of wind at an opponent, similar in strength to a punch. It can also be used to quickly propel objects through the air.
