Hero watched with no small amount of scientific horror as Chronos' hands sunk through the intangible barrier of Elke's chest to the heart cavity -- watched as her hands started to spark as though she were delivering a jolt of electric energy. Elke was flailing, convulsing up a little as though she were on the hospital table and was throwing an epileptic fit -- and her skin started to change. It glowed, matching Chronos' hands, and the heat and energy roiled off her to the point where Hero nearly had to stand back -- but she kept her position, gun still trained in case Elke tried something.
But she was watching, again, as though she were watching a miracle.
"Ma'am -- "
A column of light struck both Elke and Chronos like a lightning bolt from heaven -- Hero had to turn her face away and hated it, but when the dazzling radiance wore off she could finally look back.
It wasn't Elke lying there any more, prone on the ground with Chronos kneeling beside her.

What the hell?
