Khalla had been sitting rather calmly, staring off into the restaurant as she let Serah mull over whatever the mystery phrase for this secret phrase could be. What she hadn't expected was for Serah to suddenly do a one-eighty in the conversation and bring up the last thing Khalla wanted to talk about right now.
Khalla's bright eyes swung back to look at Serah, slightly widened, before she realized that was probably a very suspicious thing to do. She coughed and looked away, then immediately wished she hadn't, as the cough itself sent a resounding pulse of pain through her broken nose. "I guess it is. I try not to pay too much attention to media frenzy, though I have to admit all this talk of these people masquerading themselves at night and causing such a fuss puts me a little on edge." It was a good lie to cover herself up, as far as she was concerned. "I have to walk home at night after work, so that's just one more thing to worry about." She stared out the window with narrowed eyes, her teeth sinking a little into her lip. It looked as if she were simply worried over the news, when in reality it probably had more to do with worrying over her own cover.
"I'll try to be more careful though," she added with a small laugh as Serah ventured back to an earlier point, her gaze returning from where she was staring out the window. "I think I might try and stay away from the park for a little while, at least until all this clears up. Not like I'd be any help in this condition anyway."

"Thats probably a good idea." Even though Serah had started the conversation, it held little interest for her, hardly bothering to continue the lacking conversation.
But as the waitress came out with their orders, Serah's mood swung drastically, throwing her hair back behind her shoulder. The speed the waitress set out their plates, drinks and forks probably only took a few minutes but to Serah, it was forever.
"I'd like a bucketful of gummy bears on this please~" She told the waitress, pointing to her dessert. The waitress expressed some surprise, her hand to her mouth, a smile crossed her expression. Why she was grinning, Khalla and Serah wouldn't know until shortly later. She seemed to have hurried into the kitchen to tell the cook something. Serah glanced at Khalla with an odd look back at the door the waitress had exited to. "That's strange. You'd think she would go and get my gummy bears first." The gummy bears were the pressing issue at this point as Serah looked down at her delicious fried dessert. It.. just wasn't complete without gummy bears. Serah picked up her fork to take a small piece, immediately putting it in her mouth with a satisfied murmuer. Crispy, sweet and just right.
She just needed the gummy bears next.

Khalla was pleased at the change of subject, not really in the mood to keep talking badly about the Senshi, though she couldn't exactly do otherwise without blowing her cover story. It was just a deep relief to be able to drop it all together and not have to worry about covers or blowing them.
She also turned her attention immediately upon the waitress as she came out with their orders, taking her bowl of icecream and sliding it her way. She was busy unfolding her napkin into her lap carefully when Serah asked for the gummy bears, though she did make a note of how odd she phrased it. That would be an awful lot of gummy bears. She had just looked up to grab her spoon when she caught sight of the waitress' odd look, one of her brows raising. She had no idea what could have caused her to look that way so she simply shrugged at Serah as the woman turned away and scurried back into the kitchen.
"That was odd," she said quietly, scooping up a bite of her ice cream and smiling pleasantly as it hit her mouth. "I'm not sure what could possibly be taking her so long to bring out gummy bears either," she commented off hand, glancing back towards the kitchen entrance.

"Maybe they just need to restock the gummy bears..?" Serah suggested, taking another spoonful of her dessert. even without the gummy bears, the dessert was delightfully delicious. Serah was content to let the conversation dwindle into silence, letting the two enjoy their dessert in peaceful bliss (at least, to Serah it was.)~
Until the waitress interrupted them by placing two small bowls of a jello-cube dessert in an assortment of rainbow colors. It was topped with a variety of fruits in some sort of milky liquid. As Serah looked up to protest, the waitress shook her head to silence them. "Tee-hee. This is the secret dessert of the week. It just so happened that gummy bears and bucket was the key words. On the house, of course." She took out a bowl of gummy bears to place on the side of Serah's plate.
"No, I didn't forget your gummy bears. In case the both of you were wondering. But I certainly did not give you a 'bucketful.' " She gave them a sincere smile as she started to walk away to attend to other customers. "I do hope you enjoy our rainbow dessert. It's one of the best, if I may say so myself." She said softly, tipping her head in dismissal.
Words could not express Serah's happiness. She seemed to sit there in amazement, her gaze on the dessert and to Khalla.. back to the dessert and Khalla.. and repeat. It was as if, if Serah even touched it, it might disappear. "O--ah-- um-- what?" The composed Serah seemed to have lost her calm demeanor, wide eyed at this new turn of events.

Khalla could only laugh as the waitress came back with what looked to be the most revolting thing she had ever seen. It didn't take long for her to realize, however, that this had to be that magical 'secret' dessert that Serah had been so keen on discovering, though. She paused on her own dessert, sitting the spoon delicately in the bowl, and turning her attention up to the waitress a she explained. Buckets of gummy bears, huh?
"Only you, Serah," she commented with a shake of her head as the waitress walked away, her smile wide and amused. She never would have thought of the phrase, but then, she didn't really like gummy bears. In fact, she didn't really like anything gummy. She picked up a spoon from the plate of rainbow jello and gave the one nearest to her an experimental prod. "It's too bad that you went through all that trouble and all you got was jello though, I've always found it to be revolting. Look at it jiggle."
She shivered as she watched it wiggle in place and then set her spoon back down, only to resume eating her own dessert. "I suppose I could eat the fruit though, no need to let that go to waste."

"Well, as long as it's sweet, it's all good to me~" Serah didn't seem to have discriminating tastes as long as it came to desserts, her fried dessert had already disappeared from her plate. One had to wonder if she had speed-eaten it or not. She moved it aside to put her jello plate in front of her, a happy satisfied childish sound of delight over the milky dessert.
"If you don't want the jello, Khalla, I'll happily eat that for you." Serah stated, poking her own jello with her fork to make a jiggling motion. "After all, what's revolting for you is better for me since I get more, right?" She grinned, giving Khalla a bright smile.
Khalla's disgusted reaction was quite amusing in it's own way though. "I dont think it was work wasted. Perhaps, next time, we can find something that suits your tastes?" Serah nodded, chocolate brown eyes sparkled over the simple delights, much like a small child than the snobbish air she held around her at Crystal Academy. One could debate that she might gain weight over all these desserts but she would have stated, at least she was happy doing so.

Khalla simply shook her head with an amused smile, reaching out to slide her portion of jello towards Serah's side of the table as the girl so kindly offered to take it off her hands. Khalla herself wasn't huge on sweets, but she did indulge once in a while. That sort of thing really wasn't her style though. "Sure, Serah, as long as you're in a helping mood," she laughed softly under her breath and scooped up another mouthful of ice cream.
Khalla took in a deep breath, swishing her spoon around in the bowl of ice cream, deciding that she really couldn't eat any more of it. "I should get going though, I told Gran I would stop by before I went to work today." She slid out of her chair and reached down to readjust her skirts. Then, with a small grimace, she leaned over to scoop up her bag. For once, it was actually lighter than normal - probably because she couldn't carry much more than this with all her bruises.
"Thank you so much for this though," she waved her hand around as she spoke, her always-present smile beaming, "I'll definitely come find you so we can go shopping next week okay?" She gave her a little wave and turned to head to the door. About half way there, however, she stopped and turned back. "Next time, maybe we can go to the smoothie shop downtown, that's my favorite." With another smile and a wave that would almost seem nervous if it wasn't coming from Alkaid, she took a few steps backwards before turning and pushing open the door of the shop.
She was down the street before she realized why she suddenly felt so bubbly. She actually, for once, had a friend. Not an acquaintance, or a study buddy, but a real friend and it felt nice.
