It was crazy, like stepping from an oven into a freezer. Akimi wouldn't be surprised if the sweat had simply frozen into a sheet of ice across her forehead, so if course, she couldn't help tapping her skin to check. ...nope, it was just skin. She let out a soft sigh and then peeked into her bag. "Zexon, you okay?" She was answered by the sight of a tiny little paw tugging the zipper back closed, and let out a giggle before peering up at Gabriel. "I don't think he likes cold much," she admitted, and then stared at their surroundings.
Desert and cacti had become snow and ice. She couldn't help wondering how they made this possible, but for now she'd spotted a hill.
Without warning, she broke into a run, tugged off her bookbag to cradle protectively in her arms, and made a diving leap down the hill. Giggling all the way, she tumbled and rolled down to the base, landing in a heap half covered in snow, body quaking in a giddy fit of laughter.

Gabriel smiled, amused at the little animal's reaction to the instant change in climate. "It would appear so," he laughed. He stuck out his hands feeling the soft touch of the delicate flakes upon his palms. He sighed.
Wow, Such much snow. Very different from my home. Gabriel took in the environment around them. The change of scenery was pleasing to the eye. Gabriel was almost lost in his own thoughts and in the new surroundings until he heard Aki's laughter and saw her sprint down the hill as if she was running a marathon. Gabe started to run after her.
"Hey, hold on Aki!" Gabe started to pick up on his pace. "Be careful not to slip on ic-ahh!!" He couldn't finish his sentence as he slipped down the hill himself and met with Aki in the pile of snow.
[By the way, thanks for the heads up in the last post! ^_^]

Laughter turned to a squeak as something hit the snow beside her, and Aki's head turned to stare at Gabriel, the sight renewing her giggles. "You're the one who slipped!" she cried out, her giddiness obviously growing. "So nice of you to join me though! Ahahaa!" She rolled over, taking care to keep her bookbag and Zexon out of the snow. She stood, brushed herself off, and shouldered it. Then she stooped, packed up a bit of snow in her hands, and threw it right at the elf's face. But, she threw it softly at least.
She shrilled out another burst of laughter as soon as she'd done it, and dashed off once more. Except, this time she really did fall. Her foot landed and just kept on going, sliding another foot or two as she flailed her arms, then toppled backwards. Her feet literally flew out from beneath her, but she managed to twist, landing on her side instead of her back and Zexon.
There, she curled up, laughing and clutching at herself until she had to stop in order to catch her breath. Finally, she calmed, slumped, and blinked once, looking as if she'd just realized something.
"...it's cold."
[Mhmm, no problem]

Gabriel started grinning, and in no time at all just burst out laughing, which came out as a loud, booming voice. "Yeah, yeah, keep laughing at my expense, Aki." But you know what?" The elf knelt down on the ground and rolled the snow up into a ball. "I'll make you regret it!"
As Gabe was about to toss the snowball at the alien, he dropped it and belted out yet another laugh as the child slid on the ice herself. Gabe walked up to her to see if she was alright, then said:
"Well, guess nature decided to carry out my revenge for me." He grabbed Aki's hand and lifted her up. At the girl's sudden realization, Gabriel giggled a bit.
"Well, it is called the frozen section, and see they weren't lying when they called that, so what did you expect?"

Akimi didn't seem inclined to move at all on her own, just laying there quite pitifully on her side, arms hugging her bag close to her chest. There was an odd imprint in the snow behind her, as if something was there, but it simply couldn't be seen. It was long, a few inches thick, and the imprint it left was rounded. But, it vanished as a hand was offered to her and her numbing finger accepted it. She rose to her feet and once again brushed herself off, then shouldered her bag yet again.
"Well it didn't feel so cold at first!" she cried in protest, a trembling lower lip puffing out in a pout. She really was cold, suddenly shivering and squirming in place as she stood before him. Her hands were locked around herself, hugging tightly. She glanced down at her sweatshirt, damp now from the snow, along with her other clothing. It didn't really help her situation... But then she saw it, a little building resembling a ski lodge.
"Hey, race you there!" A second later, she'd taken off again. Two seconds later, she'd slipped yet again and face planted in the snow.

"Uh-huh, sure it didn't," Gabe said, nodding with hands at his hips. When he saw Aki slip and fall again, he shook his head.
"You don't learn from your mistakes, do you?" Gabriel laughed as he walked up to Akimi, picking her up again. Since he figured the child was going to freeze up, he took off his jacket, wrapped it around her along with a scarf, and carried her to the lodge.

Akimi blinked, peering up at him with her chattering teeth, expression confused as he simply picked her up. "Golly, you're strong~" she teased, giggling as she wiggled a little in his arms. But she paused when he wrapped her up, her eyes widening a bit in surprise. "Ah... it's okay," she pouted, looking somewhat guilty now. "I'm fine! The little house isn't that far away!" Squirming resumed, as she fretted slightly. "You're going to get cold now! Or sick! Cold and sick!"
Still, she didn't make too much of a fuss. She didn't want to be dropped, and like she'd said, it wasn't that far of a walk. Just a short distance to warmth!
"I feel silly," she couldn't help adding, pouting up at him again.

"Hey, don't worry about me," Gabriel said with a wink and a grin. "I'll be fine, let's just make sure you'll be alright." He ignored Aki's protests. "No fussing now, oaky?"
Gabriel looked down at the child he was carrying and smiled. I've only known her for a little while, and yet I"m voluntarily risking my health for her. He smirked and shook his head. Gabriel was a kind person at heart, and would usually help someone anyway he can.
"No reason you should feel silly," he said with a reassuring smile.

"I will be alright," Aki insisted. "I'm- ...okay." Still pouting, she lowered her head again, mostly agreeing for one sole reason; she'd nearly let her other big secret slip. Actually, he might be able to feel proof of her second hidden feature. Something seemed to brush against his knees as he held her, but it would only last a second. Aki made sure to shift it away a second later, as soon as she realized.
She quickly spoke up again as it happened, hoping to distract him more. "But I do feel silly! I can walk on my own!" she protested. In fact, she was stronger than most humans! And faster too. But, she didn't know how that measured up to an elf.
Her attention turned away when they arrived at the lodge though, and when they entered, they'd be met but a warm rush of air. Aki let out a sigh and instantly began wiggling in his arms, restless to explore the small building. "Think they have snacks here?"

As the couple were getting closer to the lounge, Gabe kept on ignoring Aki's protests even more.
"Look, Aki it's fine. It's not like your putting on a lot of weight. In fact, you're pretty light. Just relax and get comfortable." Gabriel could see the lights of the lodge and started quickening his pace. As he did so, he could've sworn he felt something brush up against his leg, but he decided to brush it off. Probably nothing.
As Aki started rambling on more and more, Gabriel came to a stop.
"See, you can stop you're complaining now," Gabriel laughed. "We're here." The elf giggled a little bit more as the little alien started scouring the place as soon as they entered. "They probably do have snakcs," he answered in response to her question. He looked around for anything until he spotted a long table. "Hey Aki. That looks like a buffet table over there. Let's go check it out." Gabriel pointed out as he tugged on Aki's sleeve.

Oh good, he hadn't noticed she'd hit him with some invisible appendage. Akimi let out a small sigh of relief and briefly allowed her eyes to close. Weird, weird~ It was so strange being carried along. But, they were there, and she shivered in the sudden warmth, her eyes fluttering back open. "Hooray!" she cried, slipping from his arms and wandering around, peeking through everything in sight, except for the obvious thing behind her. Gabriel had to point that out.
Aki turned, head tilting a little as she stared at the tug on her sleeve. "Ah... You found it!" she cried, clapping her hands together. "Come on!" She bolted, and this time there was nothing to slip on, so she made it there safely.
There was quite a spread. Little sandwhiches, chips, crackers, cheese, drinks including water, juices, and various sodas, as well as a few other things and some dessert type foods.
"Wow, we hit the jackpot!"

"I know!" Gabriel said, mouth full of food in response to Aki's statement. One would have to wonder how the elf made it to the table so fast. But at the same time those who knew Gabe were aware of how speedy the elf gets when hunger strikes him.
He seemed to have taken one of everything off the table, amazingly still keeping his weight. He turned around to look at the shorter of the two. "So? aren't you gonna eat or what?"

Akimi froze for a moment, peering up at him in surprise. How had he..? He was so fast! She hadn't exactly taking her time getting to the table either, and he already had a full mouth. "Gosh!" she cried. "Were you really that hungry?!" She grinned broadly up at him, then found herself a paper plate and started gathering up food, including little sandwiches, cheese and crackers, cookies, and a piece of cake, among other things. Her fingers curled around a bottle of soda to pour herself a cup, and then she glanced around, and pointed to a seat.
"'kay! Time to eat!" she agreed, shuffling over to the seat. She balanced her plate in her lap and started munching away at a sandwich, smiling contently to herself and still wrapped up in his larger jacket.

Gabriel looked at Aki's face and smiled. "Yeah I know. It's pretty sad, isn't it?" he laughed and continued gulping down the wide assortment of food his plate, while still taking some off the table. He looked down at Aki and smiled.
"You know, you look down right adorable in my jacket. I should take a picture. But on a serious note, I hope it's keeping you toasty."
After a few minutes of eating a loud "ACHOO!!" was heard from the elf.

Aki grinned up at him, thoroughly enjoying herself with her new companion, who'd stuck with her despite the heart attack she'd nearly given him, at least twice. They'd been chased by guards and stolen fruit, and what was the result? A free buffet. It was a good day in Akimi's eyes. A really good day.
She glanced down as Zexon finally reappeared from her bag, perching on her shoulder. She gave him a piece of bread from her sandwich, and then let her bright green eyes focus upon the elf. "A picture?" she giggled, starting to reach into her bag. "I am pretty toasty~" she agreed as she looked, sorting through the bag's contents. "Thanks to you!"
She finally pulled something from her bag. It was rectangular and just slightly larger than her hand. It looked like just a screen, but it lit up when she tapped it, and she started poking around, and more images and shapes began to light up across it. But she froze at the sudden sneeze, jolting and nearly dropping it. She fumbled, then turned sharply, staring up at him with obvious worry. "A-ah! Oh no, you're getting sick!" she practically shrieked.
She set her plate, bag, and device down beside her and leaped up. The jacket was tugged from her shoulders and wrapped securely around him, as she fussed with her sweatshirt right after. She was wearing one around her waist, he just hadn't given her time to get it, and she hadn't minded. But, struck with a new worry, motivation suddenly came. "You keep yours and I'll use mine!"
