Ginseku expected Varon would simply come to the ground; but it seemed he would rather move to the next pillar over. When he saw the dark energy beginning to amass in the form of shadows, and stretch outwards, Ginseku thought for a moment. 'What the hell is he doing? It must be some kind of field advantage...' Ginseku decided to take an offensive approach to counter this. He formed an X with his swords, and ground the blade of one across the bevel of the other, and dark sparks began to resonate across it's surface. Soon, it glowed with the same Dark energy he'd just parried, and he swung his sword with great force; the energy shot off from its point in a large ball, about three times the size of the original orbs Varon used. Ginseku leapt up onto another pillar quickly after, not sure whether the shadows on the ground were meant to be an attack or not, but not wanting to find out the wrong way. 'God, that's a horrid stink.' Ginseku sniffled once; he'd smelled death before, but this was just putrid.

Dante looked around and found it surprisingly empty. I figured more people would be here trying to get use to the gravity He soon noticed two figures off in the distance sitting around one of the pillars. Dante figured he would just ignore them as he did basic exercises. As he preformed numerous jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups, and squats, Dante decreased the spell by a small degrees to try to help him get use to it. At one point he accidentally dispelled the spell and was overcome with a great pressure. He fell hard as his limbs gained great weight. He had a hard time getting up and had a hard time moving right to cast the spell again. As he was preforming the spell he smelled something that nauseated him. As he looked over to were he saw that the two people he saw earlier were now fighting and the ground beneath them was engulfed by darkness and it was spreading. His actions became slightly quicker as panic set in. As the spell took effect, He ran over to the nearest pillar and got on top of it. Dante sighed and said, “I guess I'm just going to watch this fight now aren't I.”

((I've barely ever fought with any of my characters, much less the capable ones, so let me know if I cross any lines.))
Varon raised an eyebrow when Gin released the dark projectiles he absorbed earlier. Was he mad? To use the very negative energy that fueled his necrotic magic against him, no matter! He pointed the staff at the oncoming ball of energy, amused to see that his opponent poured a small amount of his own in order to fuel it and grant it lethal power. However, the orb remained mostly made up of his own dark fuel, and compelled it to fall back down, speeding up the dark ritual for two seconds before subsiding. It wasn't a very powerful blast to begin with, even after melding them together.
Fueled by the dark energy that now seeped out of the earth, Varon's hand moved in complicated and fluid gestures. His tongue and lips seemed to move on their own, spouting evil and debased words that were never meant to be uttered by a mortal tongue. Dark winds gathered around him in a ritual of death and a faint buzzing began to fill the air, growing louder as the ritual neared its completion.

The notion that Varon might still be able to manipulate the energy Ginseku had absorbed did indeed cross Ginseku's mind, but he preferred just re-cycling energy instead of using his own. Now at least he knew two things; Varon could manipulate the shots after they were fired, and could redirect them into alternate energy sources for fuel. The smell was becoming terrible now, and Ginseku almost couldn't stand it anymore. It was time to engage. He brought his hands together and his swords seam-lessly melded together, and the re-appearance of the original Musou occurred upon their contact. Ginseku planted his sword into the pillar. His hands flashed together in multiple seals, and they stopped on one. " SOLAR FLARE FLASH!" Ginseku thrust his palm down, and the sun shot a beam of light down upon him. It stopped after encompassing his being and cloaking him from view(because if you happened to be unlucky enough to stare, you'd get the effect of staring at the sun). Shortly after this, the beam stopped, and a ball of this light formed around the tip of the pillar. "BIG BANG!" The ball exploded in a flare of light. Ginseku knew that Varon had his darkness shield, and would probably use his surrounding area as a similar type of shield; That wasn't the plan, to attack him with the flash. The main function of this move was to distract Varon long enough to allow him to circle around behind. Upon engaging the flash and engulfing the area in a large burst of light, Ginseku grabbed Musou and immediately started leaping from pillar to pillar, coming up behind Varon just as the light faded and his body became visible again. He slashed at his right side with a great leap, hoping to topple him down.

Varon raised his hands to the air, palms held flat to the heavens as the ritual reached its climax. He ignored the flash of light, his eyelids being closed shut as he concentrated on the last incantations. It was all for naught, as movement behind him forced him to leap forwards to the next pillar. Metal sliced through cloth as the blade cut just short of his skin, tearing through his robe. He didn't have time to turn around, so Varon merely leaped forward once again, twisting his body mid-air this time as to face the direction he last knew his opponent lay.
The blight on the landscape started to recede, as the ritual was not cemented with a seal to protect the energy from leaking out, so to speak. The leftover energy from the ritual was also making a comeback as putrid bile poured out from his lips in a disgusting shade of brown and green. It was always a bad risk to perform such complicated rituals in the heat of combat without support. However, it's been far too long since Varon had an opponent that such notions found themselves forgotten.
