Patch's words were less than comforting (again he nicknamed her, calling her "darling" like he had the right!), and now it seemed that she had accidentally incurred something close to a temper from Natsuki. Inwardly the Burmese sighed, for yet again her lack of social skills were showing. "Scars heal anyway," Elarinya commented, as close to an apology as she could get while smoothing over the topic, "so it shouldn't be permanent." Upon hearing the music stop, she remembered the reason she had come in the first place and padded to the tree. Cautiously she sank her claws into the trunk and clambored up without too much difficulty, settling on the branch closest to the open-windowed room. It was empty now, probably off to lunch in the kitchen, though there still was a strange scent inside . . . ah well. The piano would be hers for a short time in the least.
"So." She glanced down to Patch, balanced upon the thin branch. "What do you mean I'll need it off desperately? I've got no inclination to do anything of the sort. Now unless you don't want a whack at the ivories or a look inside the nice home, you might want to leave before they see strange cats on their lawn." Who knew what rich people would do if their perfect grass was trampled upon?

Patch watched her with an even look to his gold eyes, crouching down again to feel the grass grazing his fingertips. "I'm just saying. There's gonna come a day in the future that you need that collar off, memories or no memories..." He said this softly, meeting her own fiery gaze. He looked up at Natsuki, then to Elarinya, and up at the window. He had the feeling that those humans playing the piano oh so well would sooner than later look out the window and see her audience. "I agree. Let's go someplace...quieter?" he suggested.

Natsuki blinked down at the tomcat and then turned her gaze to the Burmese next to her. "Oh, we're leaving?" She mewed curiously, anger apparently gone thanks to her curiosity, "That makes sense... Those humans might not like to see any of us around. I don't think they have any cats." Her tail swayed slowly behind her and she sniffed at the scents coming from the opened window once more, just to be certain. Turning away from the open window, the young Korat crouched on the branch and looked down at Patch curiously, "Where are we going then?"

Apparantly they had misinterpreted her words. Ella had had full intention of creeping in through the window and trying out the piano herself, risking her neck just to touch the keys and try a small ditty - it had been so long since she had played, she feared she would lose her edge! Yet when the Burmese crouched closer to the edge of the outstretched branch, she saw with dismay that the humans indeed did not have a cat, but rather a mule-faced pooch that layed on the ground staring at the window. Almost the same second that their eyes met, it began to growl, and a shiver went up Elarinya's spine. "Crap," she muttered and quickly backed up, down the trunk, and onto the ground with a soft thud. Above the trio, the dog - a mastiff of some sort - stretched its head over the open windowsill and began to growl. Its drooping muzzle was curled back to reveal thick, sharp teeth.
"No idea," Ella answered Natsuki quickly, "as I don't know Ikebokuro well as I should. I was an inside cat. But anywhere is better than here!" She shot the dog a narrow-eyed glare as if that would do anything, but Elarinya was no fighter. Yet when she searched for the mastiff's threatening form, it had disappeared from the windowsill - and the front door had a large doggie door.

Patch watched as the large mastiff disappeared from the window -- his gaze flickered down, finding the door and he noticed the dog door. Crap and double crap. They did not need to be eaten today. "Uh. I'm no coward, but I think we'd better hightail it outta here...quickly..." His voice never left the calm state it held, but his gold eyes narrowed in unease. "Because that dog knows we're out here. C'mon!" He sprang to his paws, slipping into an alley with the grace of -- well, a cat -- and zigzagged around, attempting to confuse the dog's scent trail if it decided to follow. Only after he'd reached his destination did he look back to see if the two females had followed him. He paused, looking up, surveying his surroundings.

Just as she was about to climb down the tree to rejoin Patch, Elarinya suddenly pushed past her, and in her unbalanced state, Natsuki spun around and came face to face with the beast momentarily. Every hair on her pelt bristled in an instant, and with a surprised 'fsst!', the young Korat dug her claws into the bark, turning and tearing down the trunk. Halfway down, the frightened cat launched herself from the tree and streaked out after Patch, instinctively following the tom's lead. She didn't even check to ensure that the Burmese had followed. When they finally came to a stop, Natsuki was panting and trembling horribly from the shock of it all. Wild green eyes darted around, checking for signs of the other two cats, as well as for that dog.

Ella was slowest to react, mainly because she was still new to the lifestyle of a wild cat and also did not know how to confront dogs - let alone large ones with nasty looking fangs. It was one of those moments where the body chose between flight, fight, or freeze. now fight was of course out of the question, Elarinya being such a pacifist that the only competition she would even consider purposefully kindling would be musician versus musician, and really who could see the violence in that? Flight would have been the next course of action, yet for some reason the Burmese found that she was rooted to the spot, staring out towards the door as the other two rushed on away like intelligent cats, or Free Collars, or whatever they were. Sure enough, she heard pounding footsteps dully from behind the door, closer, closer . . .
Maybe . . . She and her conscience fought. If she hadn't been nosy, the dog wouldn't have spotted her in the first place, and they would have been able to leave in peace. But if she stayed in place, she'd get torn up faster than present wrapping on Christmas morning. Compromise, compromise . . . The least she could do was not let Natsuki and Patch get hurt on her account. And she was fast on her feet . . .
The mastiff barelled out of the doggie door with surprising speed, eager to follow the two intruders he had just caught sight of. Before she could protest the stupid idea, Ella founds herself shouting, "Stupid half-brained canines look at me!" Indeed this caught the dog's attention, and it adjusted its course to chase her. Wincing at the idea of being torn up, Ella immediately turned tail and ran in a different direction, imagining hot breath on her heels. "Come on! After me!"
They won't miss me much, she consoled herself, saving her breath as she took as large of a stride as she could, darting this way and that. And besides, it's the least I can do. Even for complete strangers. It wouldn't be hard to lose a dog in the large city, right? |~| I'll end her posts with this one, seeing as I accidentally came across a good idea for her decollaring. 8D; |~|

When her breathing had come back down to normal, and she could hear farther than the rushing blood in her ears, Natsuki could tell the dog was not following them. With a sigh of relief, the Korat sat back on her haunches and put a hand to her chest. Green eyes made their way over to Patch, and her ears trembled slightly, "Patch....?" She mewed softly, "E...Ella.... she's not here with us, do you think she'll be okay?" Creeping closer to the tomcat, the young girl made herself small against him and curled her long grey tail around her paws, eyes looking back out of the alley they way they came in.

Patch paused there, waiting, listening to everything around him. He was quiet, silent even, ears focusing on the pawsteps of Natsuki as she crept near, straining to hear Ella... But he couldn't. She wasn't there. "Damnit..." She'd gone and played martyr, leading the dog outta the territory. He hoped she would find a tree and stick it out, and not do anything stupid. Perhaps she'd even lose her collar in the attempt... He just hoped she wouldn't lose her life.
"Mm... I think she's done the crazy and lead that dog off our trail. We should be thankful..." He purred a soft sound out in his throat, gold eyes looking to the nervous girl. A smile broke over his face. "It's okay. She's a toughie, a fighter. She won't go down without a fight. C'mon, Natsu. I think it's about time for us to find some grub, dontcha think?" Taking her by the elbow, he wrapped a friendly arm around her and strolled back down the alley.
