LuLu had quickly taken residence in the crook of Varun's arms; however, her keen lavender gaze never left the bushes in front of her. It was as if she thought of the other raevan as less of a person and more of a concrete wall. He was something that would protect her. The rabbit shivered as he stroked her back. The touch was unexpected and somewhat unwanted. Yet, she would endure if it meant that she would not have to personally confront the beast making its way towards them.
Another growl erupted from a sea of green.
The leafs swayed like waves as the monster within charged towards them.
LuLu's eyebrows knitted together in mild confusion as the leviathan hastily passed her off to a small woman. The rabbit frei examined Kinsey with a weary eye at first. Nevertheless, as Varun hurriedly retracted his safe hold on the her, LuLu made no protest in diving into the woman's embrace. She watched as the male raevan suddenly disappeared into the brush to meet with their assailant head on.
A low rumble sounded as the large brown head of a bear peaked out from above the foliage. Two beady, black eyes stared at Varun. They were filled with agitation and hunger. The animal snapped its maw intimidatingly as it loomed closer. It rose onto its hind legs and gave a loud bellow to challenge the seasonal frei.
Josh swiftly stepped over to the two females and briefly whispered reassurance to them before he shuffled them back away from the unfolding fight. The boy was aware of the danger they were now faced with. Apparently, they had stepped into this bear's territory. Unfortunately for the bear, it had never met an overprotective Varun before.
Once he felt that the women were far enough away, Josh ran back towards the confrontation. He was not sure what he would or could do now. The boy just hoped that he could pull the raevan away before either of him or the bear got hurt.

Varun snarled at the bear, returning its threatening gestures. The Raevan was not the least bit intimidated, though he well should be, and flared his wings as wide as he could, trying to match the mammal's massive size. He floated closer, snapping his own jaw as he rumbled, low and deep. He would give the bear a warning, but that was all. LuLu was his friend and Kinsey was his woman and it would be a cold day in hell before he let either of them get injured.
Without further thought, the leviathan coiled and struck, jaws agape as he went for the throat.

Josh stopped and looked on in horror as Varun returned the bear's challenge. The boy could have slapped the frei. Who went around fighting bears? BEARS?! Josh emitted a strangled yelp as the leviathan curled up and lunged. Without hesitation, his hand shot out and snatched at a curtain of flowing red hair. He tugged until the raevan was sent tumbling to the ground. A large, clawed paw swiped at the empty air Varun's head once occupied. Josh knew it wasn't the best way to stop a frei, but it did work for now. The boy grabbed for Varun's arm and dragged him away from the bear. He did not care if the raevan put up a fight. Receiving few scratches and bites was worth not seeing Varun's brains plastered on a tree trunk.
The bear seemed to grow less hostile as they ran away. They were leaving the creature's territory and it was now sated. Josh growled exasperatedly as he pulled the frei along, "We all know your tough Varun. You do not need to attack everything that moves!" The boy returned to the two girls. He kept up his brisk pace and nearly ran past them. The last thing wanted to do was sit around and meet another bear.
He motioned with his free arm to move forward, "We are going now." The boy looked back for a few brief second while they returned to the mouth of the forest, "Th-thank you for helping me."

As soon as Josh had retrieved Varun and dragging the squalling leviathan to a safe distance, Kinsey grabbed his arm. She still had LuLu in one arm, instinctively taking the rabbit Frei away from the scene of the fight when Josh had rescued her own Raevan; if he was saving Varun's dumb a**, she needed to make sure LuLu stayed out of harm's way, as well.
Varun stopped thrashing when Kinsey settled a hand on his shoulder, instead looking over his woman and his friend. They still seemed to be fine, despite the fact that Josh wrangled him away from the bear. That behemoth had no idea what it was messing with; no one crossed the leviathan.
Kinsey swatted at Varun when he began to puff again and turned her attention to Josh.
"A-anytime, Josh," Kinsey breathed, offering him a small smile. He was pretty okay, this Josh kid. Not many people would take a chance with a bear, especially not for her mouthy little sea monster. "Anytime."
