Kitty watched him leave, unaware that her cheeks were blushing. How... debonair. Romantic. Flattering. Where others would have immediately taken suspicion, Kitty had been swept off her feet. So much so that it wasn't until a few daydreaming minutes later that she noticed he had left his gloves on the counter. "Ah," she whispered. Her hands may have been warm and envied within her shop, but his would be chilled... he would have to come back for them, she reasoned.
And as she spent her day at the shop, she was practically floating on air as she thought of their next meeting, where she would give him back his gloves...

Yet that meeting didnt happen till the next day. Samson entered the bookstore, dressed sharply as usual, looking ab it more chipper as he made his way towards the counter, hopingagain to see the bubly, blooming book keeper.

There was a loud crash and a great cry of profanity from the back room. A little puff of dust could be seen in the light that poured in from the from window, illuminating all the motes as they spun and danced out of the mayhem.
Kitty emerged seconds later having been summoned by the sot tinkling of the door's bell, looking flustered, but unharmed. Though with what had just happened to the books back there, the same couldn't be said for them. "I-I'll be right there!" she stuttered as she frantically looked for a chair. "Bookshelf finally gave way, and..."
And all words escaped her as she finally laid eyes on just who had come into the store. Another creak and crash, however, swiftly brought her back to the present.

At her first appearance Samson smiled warmly. Though at the second crash he jumped and rushed over to assist her if she needed it. "Are you...alright?" He called into the very dusty room, slipping his jacket off and setting it on a nearby chair to assist her in picking up a few fallen books.

"Fine... Fine!" Kitty was desperately trying to ram the chair she found underneath the end of the shelf that had given way, only to have the other end give with the uneven weight. Old, delicate book went crashing to the floor in an unceremonious heap. Kitty was on her hands and knees trying to put them to rights, and lamenting over ones that were now damaged from the fall. One in particular, an older, thread-bare book about earth Zen poetry, was being cradled in her hands like a fallen dove.
"Poor things... poor shelf. I'll have to get a new one somehow..." she said, more to herself than to Samson.

Samson kneeled down near her adn picked up a few more books trying to stack them up more appropriately. "Maybe I can help? I know a guy...he owes me a favor and he's quite the carpenter." He smiled touching the damaged book in her arms gently as well, frowning a bit in agreement.
"Oh...we were never properly introduced...I apologize. My name is Nathan." He lied.

"Hello," Kitty said to his introduction. "I'm Kitty. This is my store and these are my books that still don't have a home..." She heaved a heavy sigh, and eased herself to her feet. His offer was very generous, and yet she couldn't suddenly take a bookshelf from a stranger...
"I'm sorry," she said with a smile. "You shouldn't call in that favor just for me. You sound like you're a lover of books as well, so shouldn't you get that shelf for yourself?" Kitty went to gathering and assessing damage to the tomes. Stray pages were scattered here and there, and once more she sighed, knowing that this would take quite some time to sort through.

"Kitty...Lovely to meet you." He laughed as he started gathering the few scattered pages. "I have plenty of books upon their own bookshelves. I dont need anymore. trust me." He winked. "It'd be no trouble. I never do something I dont want to..." He assured.

Kitty was smiling in a rather goofy distant fashion at him, until she realized her silliness and looked away. "Well... alright. If you want. But ah-"
Suddenly she was looking around for something, until she realized she had let the gloves behind the counter. "I have something for you!" she said, and was out of the back room in moments. "Out here, please!" Kitty called, wary of a stranger, handsome as he may be, in the back room without her.

Samson who was going by Nathan, Stood though made sure to leave whatever books he touched into a neat stack before joining her outside.
"Ah I had wondered where I had left those." He noted, nodding towards the gloves. "Though they can wait...There isn't anyone else working here today is there? How about In thanks for finding my gloves... you let me straighten up the back room. I can probably even get that shelf today if you'd like. That way you can man the store and not lose any customers because of this mini disaster hm?" He offered, his soft dark eyes smiling at her, hoping she'd let him help her out.

It was incredibly fortuitous for him that Kitty was the owner of the shop and was prone to such fluffy-brained thinking, because with a smile, she gladly accepted. After all, it was a small shop. She could keep an eye on him, and it wasn't like he could walk off with any books without her knowing. She had ways of figuring out i people were shoplifting...
"Nathan, I'm glad I met you. That would be just wonderful." And again she gave him that genuine, warm-hearted smile she had in store for anyone who made her the least bit happy. "But please, be careful with everything. The book back there are very delicate and usually only collectors get to see that room."

He smiled a little to himself, as if laughing at a private joke. "I'll be careful..." He nodded, turning to go attend tothe mess, though couldn't help but look back at her.
She was a pretty girl that was for sure... A bit... flighty but not in the bad way. Really she was just a tad naive, making Samson feel just a tad guilty for how easy this all seemed to be going...
He made his way to the back room, and began stacking up the books and going through them carefully. At a glance he seemed to jstu be cleaning but really he made sure to pay special attention to each binding and cover, as if looking for somehting in particular.
Though as he started to make some headway, he pulled out his cell and called up his old contact. "...Hey John? Its Sam.." He went towards the back of the room so he wouldn't be heard. "Hey listen I need a favor.... No not that kind of favor... Real simple. A bookshelf. ...Yes a bookshelf. No I dont want any secret compartments or hidden weapons or bugs...jsut a plain sturdy bookshelf alright? Yes..'Spinners Tale Bookshop...Yea thats the place...watch yer mouth, she's a nice girl.... I'm always careful, now just get that thing down here pronto alright? Thanks..." And with that he hung up, going back to his sorting.
After a while though...he found what he was looking for. The book was extremely old, delicate almost with an intricate design on the hefty cover. He opened the cover to look at the publishing date, his heart skipping ever so slightly at the rather ancient date. He held his breathe for a moment as he looked over his shoulder. This was what he was looking for. The book that could solve all his problems. Endless hours of searching and it was finally in his hands... He could make a break for it now... No. No he couldn't...he couldn't get flustered now. He had to stick to the plan. He had enough extra money on him...and Kitty seemed to like him...he could simply buy it from her and then turn it over in time to save his arse. Yes this could all still work.
So reluctantly, he set it down on the pile of books he was going through, a firm and solemn look on his face.
Eventually, his friend arrived with the bookshelf, yet he told Kitty she couldn't come see until he was done with everything. He wanted to surprise her with how nice it would all look when he finished. He spent a good hour or so putting the books up by genre and then by author, making sure they were all in place and neatly put away. Even the book he had been looking for he set up in the shelf with a slight hesitation.
Though finally he was done and called in Kitty to inspect his work. "What do you think? Feel free to rearrange the books however you like, I just wen ahead and organized them with what made sense to me. But it could differ with different people so..." He shrugged, a bit out of breath and a ta sweaty from moving the thing in there in the first place.

As Kitty watched everything being set up, she seemed to be getting something far more impressive than a simple bookshelf. It was the equivalent of giving someone a new, expensive electronic device, guaranteed to make life easier somehow. Every time she peeked in to have a look, she found herself being shooed away by the handsome young man. She obliged, laughed, and went about her business.
By the time she was called in to have a look-see, the shop was almost ready to be closed. With a flick of her wrist, she had flipped the sign on the door and sprinted to the back room. Her reaction was simply a wonderful gasp.
"It's beautiful!" she exclaimed. Her fingers ran along every spine as her eyes slid over names and titles. Everything was so orderly, so lovely, and so much better than anything she had going before. "Nathan, you are brilliant!" and without warning, she was hugging him tightly in thanks for all his hard work.

Not expecting the reaction, Nathan turned bright red as he awkwardly hugged her back. "W-well I'm glad you like it!" He laughed, his hands on her hips as he pulled her away enough to look her in the face. "You seem to have quite the collection back here. Are they all yours?" He asked, not noticing he still had a hold on her, and didnt seem to mind if he did.

Kitty noticed, though, and took a casual few steps back, as if to take a look at her collection. "No, no, they're not all mine... I wish they were, though!" she said with a giggle. "Most of them I restored. It's sort of a service I provide for the collectors, or I find older books and resell them for profit once they're all spruced up. It's hard to see them go when you've spent so much time making sure they live again..."
They way she spoke about it all made it sound like she had rescued lost kittens. But to Kitty, these were worlds between two covers, not just pages bound together.
