Yeah, for some reason I dont have much of a problem with that. redface
Starting from scratch is still very good. Do you keep some sort of record for your characters? That way you can remember things about them even if you haven't used them in a while. And then one day you might come across an RP where they fit in already. wink

Yeah I keep a bio on all of them, just the basic information though, not an in depth kind of thing.
But what really defines them for me is what they do in the rp... I mean, i've started one character off, he was cool, but a little to nice for the place he was in, so his personality changed.... I think it would be hard to recapture that process if i wanted to put him in another rp.

I really enjoy having three or four people in one RP, instead of larger groups. If there is a big group, it's hard to find posts and every thing can get very confusing. With a small handful, you get good character interactions and situations without the mess. Plus, if you're RPing with talent then it's easy to get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

It sounds like the larger RPs you've been in need more than one thread, which kinda makes them two or three RPs in one. xd See the Feretris guild RP for what I mean

I preffer one on one rps for a few reasons. One being is that I have a tendency to want to make sure everyone's happy and then I usually end up unhappy. Also, if you're rping with multiple people it's harder to say 'be back in 30 min.' without getting left in the dust of the other rpers. On occasion rping with maybe 2 or 3 other people is nice, but only if they agree not to get too far ahead of you if you have to run to the store or something.
As for premade characters, I despise them, no offencse or anything. It's just....the point of roleplaying is to make your own character and decide how they act in different situations and what not. If you have a premade character then the work is pretty much done for you. *shrug* just my opinion.

Getting left in the dust? That's why I hate chat-group RPs and enjoy forum RPs where people post once or twice a week.

Hm. See, as a GM, I prefer Group RP's, especially those between 5 and 12 players. This way, the thing doesn't get stagnant, and watching others progress can be a pretty good motivator for those who usually don't play ofter, for whetever reason(s).

That's great when you're the GM, because you can keep recruiting and trust yourself to do that, or blame yourself if you don't. But landing a GM who will do the same? The death of a group RP can be slow and uncertain, with one or two people hanging on wishing every one else would return, until finally they give up as well. That is also what gives the GM the opportunity to keep the RP going, of course, because you don't depend on one person to keep it going or kill it. One-on-ones are at least more clear-cut, and you can continue them at a later date if you save them and you both want to.

It depends - I tend to like both. However, I usually one-on-one with some of my FFXN3* buddies on AIM much more than I group roleplay. I find one-on-ones easier to follow, because it's only you and them, but group roleplays tend to be bigger and more exciting, because more people are adding their quirks to it.
*FFXN3 = roleplaying group

I actually, overall, prefer one-on-one roleplays (or very small group roleplays; about three or four people), because I'm an insanely busy person, and group roleplays typically go way too fast for me. One-on-ones slow down the pace a lot more for me, so long as the other person doesn't get fed up with it.
Premades actually don't bug me. I'll take a premade character just as much as I'll make or recycle my own.

Personally, I've always preferred a one-on-one to a many player. Part of that is the fact that with one person, it gives us plenty of time to take these two characters and develop them greatly. For example:
Me and my friend Falcon have been rping for seven years now. It started out with two characters, which we both happen to still use frequently. These are typically referred to as OUR characters. Then, you have the entire world we've created--children, enemies, alternate realms, gods, ect. It went from being two characters to being my three major ones with a few side ones brought in occasionally, and his three major ones with a few side ones brought in on occasion. And a one-on-one becomes way easier to arrange, because if the other person has an im messenger you use, then you can use that instead, and it is easier to coordinate times.
Multiones have something of a higher advantage in the fact that at first they are far more unpredictable. You have to learn how more than one person thinks in order to have an idea of how to respond. But you also have to depend on more than one person to stay in, and that seems like a hassal. That would be my impatcience speaking now. Plus, if you come in half-way, then it becomes a problem, because it takes more time to figure out what's going on.

What I do is setup a plot where everybody is important, but not that important. Why I do this is for that matter if 10 people join and only 2 continue posting, it will help me out in the long run.
I prefer any type of roleplay really, the main thing that I look for is originality which many people lack.

If you mean pre-made characters like "You can be X character" only RPs? I hate 'em. I greatly prefer to make my own character. I understand that the person probably put the characters up because they have a specific direction they want the RP to go in, but in that case why not make it a story? To me, it's much more fun to have a big group that makes their own characters and see where it goes from there.

i like the battle roleplay, where you just jump in with a character and attack everyone, and I like the streamline roleplay, where the creator of the roleplay gives a plot and summery of the the storyline and then introduces the participating roleplayers to various situations. Such as "the island of mochamocha is a very nice tourist resort, one volcanoe, and a lot of sand and waves." the the roleplayers will do their thing and every now and then the creator will introduce a major event, for the sake of an example, "after 20 posts, the volcanoe erups, or after 50 posts their is a sunami" or whatnot.... those are really fun because it cuts down on character god-making, and adds some surprise to the rp!
