She had a feeling that her son was hesitating because he needed her to leave first. His eyes were so young and scared, but she could sense that he truly wanted this. She could only help him one last time by walking away, and allowing Eckhardt to do the rest on his own. "I can't wait until that day!" She choked lightly and sucked back any last emotions.
And with that, she started backing up, and slowly turning her body and leaving in the opposite direction. She was counting her steps mentally, and praying that he was following behind her. If he followed her, he would be safe and she could watch him forever. But he'd be held back forever and silent as well. She would turn around and look soon... what would her son choose?
.....
When she finally looked behind her, he was gone. He was truly, truly gone. "Goodbye, Eckhardt." She couldn't stop the tears anymore.

He was running. This was the first time he had ever run with no idea where he was or where he was going. His heart was beating so fast. His eyes were wet with tears. But he was laughing, and smiling. THIS was living. And he would be living the rest of his days now, every single day. "BRING IT ON!" he yelled, hoping the forest would provide a good challenge for him in his new adventure. "BRING IT OOOON!!"
