Level 80 NElf huntress, the pet she's had since level 10 is semi-retired, since I switched to a different one for high-end content. Just got my first T9 piece tonight, too, which is nice.

My first char ever was a Nelf Hunter. Leveled him all the way back in vanilla and BC. I rolled him because he could tame nearly any animal in the wild rather than for the "EZ-mode."
But now, I have a female Belf Hunter. I'm trying to make her a handler of unusual pets rather than rare pets, such as Crocolisks, Hyenas, and Bats.

on alliance, crocs aren't all that unusual. dwarfs have them all the time for the whole 'big pet/tiny man' thing. cant remember if goblins can be hunters or not, but if they can you'll see a fair bit of the on horde as well

I've got a question for the other hunters in here, particularly Survival Hunters. Do you notice a major spike in DPS on bosses? Since doing the random heroics, I've noticed that my average DPS for the whole dungeon is almost inevitably a good 300-400 points below my DPS on any given boss, and anywhere up to 1k below a boss where major allied cooldowns such as Heroism are popped.
Personally, I blame this on several factors, all of which are based on one fact: trash mobs (except in the new ICC 5-mans, in which the disparity is noticably smaller) are too squishy for me to go full power on. 1: Assuming an average total DPS of 7k, which is a very low estimate, usually, the average trash mob with 60k health will drop inside of 10 seconds. 2: With a glyphed Serpent Sting lasting 27 seconds, nearly 2/3 of the damage is lost, including (on average) 2 critical ticks. 3: With the cooldown for Black Arrow 30 seconds, and the DoT itself 15 seconds, no mob survives a full rotation, and less than half the mobs even get it in the first place. 4: Most critically, because a mob goes down so quickly, the window for Kill Shot is so short, that unless I've held off in order to use it, I'm unlikely to fire it off, due to being in GCD or casting. Kill Shot, being my biggest single damage dealer (anywhere up to 6k on a normal hit, anywhere up to 13.5k on a crit, which happens more than half the time), is a major loss.
tl:dr I'm much worse on trash mobs than bosses, which gimps my average heroic dps. My fault, or common to other hunters?
