Sylph had been raised alongside a bear, the Sloth Bear had been a permanent feature of his home growing up. The companion to his father, he was rather fond of the creatures but also had an awareness of the dangers they possessed. Like all creatures within the world there were both good and bad individuals, it depended on your definition of each of these words, but they existed all the same. While Giruvegan had been a pacifist who dined only on fish and grubs, he had warned Sylph and his brothers that there were those bears who were more vicious and blood thirsty... This in mind, it was always important that one never judged a book by its cover as it could lead to death.
Suffice to say, Arcadia was in luck. Sylph may have found her manners to be appalling but he had the reputation of his Order to maintain. His morals and sense of duty would never have permitted him to watch as she was harmed. On the contrary he would be the first to come to her defence provided the foolish mare hadn't insighted the violence herself. Ah yes, there was a fine balance between responsibility and stupidity - he was by no means a fool and he certainly wouldn't intervene based on provocative behaviour. Thankfully he had a little more faith in the mare and sincerely doubted that she would deliberately cause a stir with anything potentially life threatening.
...Himself discounted, but he was hardly life threatening against one such as her.
Nevertheless there were moments when he wasn't privvy to a soquili's thoughts and he remained unaware of her amusement at his predicament. His ducking a diving would probably have been rather entertaining to most, but for him it really wasn't the most enjoyable of activities. He'd always been acutely aware of his height, towering above his own brothers who had managed to gain a happy 'medium'. Bella (his mother) was a rather petite mare and her small stature had ensured that his brothers had adopted slightly smaller sizes - Penance was close in size to his father, which was rather large for most while Azuell was rather stout like his mother. They fell comfortably in between both parents but somewhere along the line, Sylph had received a throwback and his height was beyond that of his father! Instead of being that happy medium, he had taken after his Grandfather and was a bit of a giant.
He didn't like it.
Or rather, he didn't appreciate it all the time. He recognised that his height was a good quality to possess for the most part but when it came to social events and navigating through areas like this, well, it didn't take a genius to realise that it made things awkward. Alas he opted to grin and bear it in an attempt to maintain his dignity, there were worse things in the world that could happen to him!
"Mhm," he murmured in response to her words. For one so reckless, she seemed to 'figure' quite a bit, he wouldn't go so far as to call her hypocritical but she was certainly naive. It was a sign of her age and while he wasn't that old himself, he would probably argue he had seen just a little more. Admittedly he would never have experienced her home life and nor would he care to, but the rest was open for debate. Nevertheless he held his silence after his statement and proceeded on, sucking in a deep breath to bolster his wavering tolerance for the branches - really, how much was a stallion expected to take before he cracked up?
Eventually he began to slow though, giving a sweeping bow as he walked under the lowest branches yet and came into a very small clearing. There was no break in the canopy, it still swept over their heads thanks to the large boughs of the tree above but the trees no longer invaded their line of sight and there were few obstacles to be seen. Autumn's red and yellow leaves lined the forest floor and just ahead was the trickle of a stream - where it came from remained to be seen. Sylph had been here before, he was aware that the stream came from a very small waterfall that somehow came from the base of the mountains. It was a rather whimsical sight, but one that was best shared by individuals who could tolerate one another's company.
In short, Arcadia probably wouldn't appreciate his presence and would consider it condescending - or that was his assumption!
Unsurprisingly, his comments did hold true though and it was much warmer here. He had managed to pull her deeper into the forests, to a region where the wind couldn't blast through the borders and the canopy shielded the inhabitants from the worst of the weather. She may not enjoy the forest for the most part, but at least she would be warm here. He turned at this point and stood up straight now that the branches weren't tugging relentlessly at his mane and horns.
"Is this of use to you?" he broke the silence once more and offered a wry smile. "With the exception of a few rather unique retreats in my herd's territory, this is perhaps as warm a location as you will find," he added. Rest assured he would make no mention of finding additional bodies for warmth, it somehow seemed inappropriate and given the behaviour of the Kawani Province's males it was unlikely she could request such company without the assumption that she had ulterior motives.

The silence that was in the trees made the mare shift her footing ever so slightly. The whole walk was making her nervous. She hated the woods. She preferred to stay in the plains were her family would be but she could die out in that weather. Better to say, she could deal with the woods and the Mr.Perfect stallion that lead her to the destination. The family she had come from was as terrified of the woods as she was. The creatures that ate horses and even skinwalkers that had a taste for them would be a scary story told to the foals to keep them out of the woods. And she was still scared of whatever watched them, licking it's maw. Even if the giant stallion was there, she was just a small easier meal so to speak. The dark eyes she had tried to focus on the stallion and his endeavors once more and his movements. The response to her words made her frown lightly and she glanced away, her eyes watching the woods. Her eye sight not being the best made her weary. As he made a lower bow, she slipped under the tree with ease and she shivered as the warm air touch her nose and ears. She was starting to defrost.
"Yeah, this is better then those wind chills..." She mummered and moved further under the canopy of trees. She sucked in the warmth and the shivers soon became nothing but a soft twitch. Everything was slowly but shirrly warming up.
"Thanks..." She offered back to the stallion as she glanced around the area, not bothering to look at him. He got a thanks out of her but that was about it. That walk had exhausted her but she was just enjoying the air but being surrounded by woods were you couldn't see a predator coming at you made her extremely nervous. But she hid it well besides her glancing around.

Sylph hadn't expected anything more than a word of thanks, he had even made a brief assumption that there was a possibility she may choose to dismiss his assistance. He was not the sort of stallion to demand recognition for his deeds and he would never ask for repayment either. However, when she offered her begrudging thanks his eyes did soften slightly and he provided the mare with a warm, half smile. She may not have noticed it and she may not have cared but her gratitude was more than he could have asked for - highly cliche and his mind was well aware of this, but he could safely say that he was genuine in this respect.
"You are welcome," he replied quietly, a low murmur so as not to disturb her. She had chosen to observe her surroundings and by the looks of things she was assessing her new dwellings for the evening, whether it met her approval remained to be seen but it was not his place to discuss them further. It was a quality he hated in stallions; their overwhelming need to explain every action they did as opposed to being decisive and confident that their decision had been right. Sylph was aware that his solution may not have been ideal according to her tastes, but it was warm and that was enough.
She wouldn't freeze.
His lips pursed briefly and after a few moments of silence he cast his gaze to the side and observed the pathway he had cut. It wasn't the most subtle of paths and he would definitely have to clear it up to ensure her security remained tight. Ah; he would cause quite a bit of wrestling as he negotiated with the trees and foliage to recover from his earlier ministrations!
"I trust you will find comfort here for this evening, or if not comfort then at least reprieve from the cold," he made no reference to her fear if he had noticed the tension by now. Either it remained unknown or he did possess some level of tact - it would be for the mare to decide that one, Arcadia seemed to value her own opinions and judgements most highly! "But I must depart, I have a number of other appointments to attend to this evening and I would sooner I was not late," he chuckled softly and turned to make his way back towards the path, musing over the most ideal way of correcting the damage.
"...You should have just moved out of the way, you know?" he murmured to the trees and shook his head, a soft sigh escaping from his lips. "It would have been easier for us both."
