'If only she knew how bad it really was.'
Reed smiled and nodded as he moved to sit down next to A'leai. "Your family sounds very nice," he smiled, "Maybe your mother can help teach you how to control your visions more effectively. Then maybe it wouldn't be so random."
'Her family seems so stable. I wish I had that kind of stability in my life. Who knows, maybe one day I will. But then again. Maybe I'll never find that for myself.
'I mean, why should I try to kid myself into thinking that I even have a chance in being able to get close to someone.' he sighed, then realized that A'leai was still talking.
He nodded softly, listening with great intent as she went on.

"My father tends to be a grouch sometimes...My brother is a thrill seeker and my mother..she's alright. My aunts and grandmother on the otherhand..."
She shuddered. "I guess I could ask her to help me control my visions better..."

"I'm sure that your mother can help you," Reed smiled, "You could have one of those master and apprentice relationships. It would possibly even strengthen the relationship that you already have."
'Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?! To have a good or possibly even a great relationship with someone,' he glanced over at A'leai, 'She's so lucky. She has a family that no doubt loves her.'
'I wish I knew what that felt like,' Reed sighed and hung his head slightly, 'But Reaper wants nothing to do with me, and I can't remember our parents. I wonder if he can.'

"Well, I honestly don't know my parents. I can't even remember what happened to them. I really wish that I knew them. I think that you're right, and that they would be able to help me out with taming my talent," he sighed, "And my brother is not only completely unable to help me with my talent, but unwilling to even acknowledge my existence."
"Don't get me wrong," Reed turned to look at A'leai, "My brother and I do love each other like family should, but his talent makes it very hard to be close to anyone."

"Hrmm," Reed thought for a moment, 'What would be the best way to explain it?'
After a moment, he spoke, "Well, the best way I can explain it -and you'll have to forgive me if I don't do well- would be to say that he can read the minds of those around him. There are a few people who he cannot read. But it is quite unbearable for him when he is around those who he can read."
"He's even gone to the length of abandoning his children because their thoughts flood to him," he sighed, "Those poor kids.. Most likely they will never be able to know him. I took in one of them to help relieve Synstylae."
'Oh my, I've gone off on another tangent,' Reed shook his head, "I'm sorry, I rambled again. But yes, even my own thoughts echo in his mind. So we keep our distance from each other."

She mused the explination in her head. "Soo...he can't control his own talent?"
Granted she couldn't read another's thoughts....but it was still annoying her own talent couldn't be controlled.

"I'm not sure if he can at this point," he thought for a moment, "But since he forced himself to abandon Synstylae and the kids; I'm fairly sure that he cannot control it."
"But, yeah," Reed struggled to get off the sore subject of his family, "I don't have anyone to help me with my talent. I mean I keep it fairly well in check on my own. But I have no clue why it is my talent, and why it couldn't be something so much simpler."
'God, I'm so pathetic. She must think I'm so pitiful,' he sighed, "Forgive me if I seem mopey. I don't want to bring you down."

A'leai shrugged. "Mopey is nothing compared to a family of females who don't believe in only one man being a partner...well they don't believe men are worthy of them to begin with except to produce seed to bear daughters with."

"I mean.." he stuttered a bit, "Not like that's a bad thing or anything. But why do they believe that?"

A'leai shrugged and moved her feet, creating a little tinkling sound with her anklets.
"Who knows... My mother doesn't always agree with them either...then again she's probably going through a phase of where if any male can keep up with her, she'll stick by him. I guess it was the way her father brought her up. He isn't a typical drow male..."
She glanced at him, admiring that he wasn't flipping out. Most of the men in her herd were the macho type who took offense to a female thinking they were better then they.

'Maybe since her and her mom don't exactly agree with the way of their people,' Reed nodded softly as a smile flashed across his face. The tinkling of her anklets brought him back to reality. 'Maybe there is a chance... Hope. That was the best way he could describe it. Hope that somebody could bother to care.
"Forgive my ignorance, but what is a typical drow male like? And how does he differ so much to have been able to raise his daughter like him," he perused, "Because, if the women only use the men to make daughters for them. Then how did he get the chance to raise her."
"I'm sorry," he paused for a moment, "I'm so nosey. But you know the amount of experience I have with families."

"I was told that a typical male can earn respect by prooving he can keep a female safe, especially a priestess. Everyone's suppose to have this nasty attitude and temperment. Dad was never brought up around the rest of the Drow world...though he knows of their ways he doesn't go by them. As for raising one of theirs, my grandmother and grandfather are in two seperate herds."
She smirked a little.
"YEEEHA!" came a loud whoop as the ground shook beneath them. This brown boy with bones for jewelry came riding in on what was a really large two legged dinosaur with really small arms and huge freaking teeth and leaving huge tracks in the ground.
A'leai's eyes widened as she bounced lightly in her place before peeking at the oncoming nuisance.

'Proof of my worth,' he thought, 'I don't think there is any way that I can prove that. I mean, I seriously doubt that...'
Reed's thoughts were interrupted by the loud whoop and the ground shaking. He ducked out of the way, unsure of the enormous creature standing before them.
"Sleep, please for the love of all," he said, almost in a whisper, "Sleep." He watched as the beast tried to fight off his imprinting; immediately he was disgusted at himself for resorting to his talent.
'Please don't hate me or be scared,' he looked over at A'leai, wondering if she knew what was going on.
