Coline's eyes slowly fluttered open. Sitting up from the bed she surveyed her surroundings. She couldn't recognize this place at all. Where was she? How did she end up here? What the hell happened?
She brought a hand to her head as she traced her steps in her mind. She remembered going to the Training Grounds, and she remembered... the Captain. That's right, she performed disarming exercises with the Captain, didn't she? She was doing pretty well too, up until that last one. Ah yes, she remembered now. She must have passed out du--
Wait. Then that would mean...
Coline brought her hand to her face, her cheeks now a gleaming red. How could she manage to pass out in front of him? Oh god... this was too embarrassing. She had always tried her best not to show weakness, especially in front of people she respected. She would have to give more effort into keeping a straight face the next time she saw him.
Letting out a deep sigh she lowered her hand. "Hm?" It was at that moment that she realized that something... didn't feel quite right. Rather, something felt too right. Raising her hand in front of her face, Coline started to undo the bandages on her fingers. They were healed. Looking over to her arms, her legs; where were her scratches and bruises?
Coline felt a sudden rush of anxiety. Just how long had she been asleep?
((Yaaay I didn't break it! 8D))

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. The room to Coline's chamber slowly creaked open. Lorika sidled through the opening and past the dresser carefully, balancing a tray on her hip while she turned to close the door. Shifting the tray back around, she looked down to ensure she hadn't spilled a drop of the pulpy but tasty vegetable stew she was bringing her patient. She'd spent the last five days painstakingly trickling the liquid through the unconscious girl's lips in order to keep her strength up.
She placed the tray on the bedside table, and then looked down at the bed. To her most pleasant surprise, the girl appeared to be awake... if a little groggy and oblivious to the world around her.
"Oh, you're awake!" she move dto sit down on the side of the mattress "How are you feeling?" ...I have the receipts to prove it.

FEELS GOOD, MAN!
"Ah... High Priestess." Coline muttered unguardedly. Seeing her enter the room with tray in hand, she could only assume that she had been under the High Priestess' care all this time. "Strangely, I... feel great. Better than I have felt in a long time. Thank you for your hospitality. I am in your debt."
She was at a loss for words. Partly due to being cared for by someone of such high regard, and... "High Priestess, where--" she started hesitantly, her eyes suddenly averting from hers, "--I mean, who--Ah... I'm sorry." Clearing her throat, Coline spoke again, "How long... have I have been asleep?"

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. Lorika regarded her kindly, her hands folded in her lap. "You've been asleep for five days, my dear. You needn't worry about the Captain. He excused you from your training for as long as it took for you to regain your strength."
Her voice took on a harder edge. "Speaking of which, we need to have a talk about how far you expend your energy. But for now..." She gestured at the tray. "Please - eat. I can get you some bread, cheese and butter if you'd like. The food is intentionally mushy so that it could easily slip down an unconscious throat."
...I have the receipts to prove it.

"Five days..." she echoed, dread apparent in her expression. It was just as she feared. Just thinking about how much training she could have done in that time made was... She needed to get back to the Training Grounds.
Coline's attention diverted back to the High Priestess upon the sudden intensity in her voice. It seemed like her... enthusiasm... with her training has had the priestess concerned. And she appreciated that, truly, but-- Huh?
"Oh, you don't need to trouble yourself. I'm not very picky with my food. This is more than enough." Coline reached over to the tray and took the bowl into her hands. Closing her eyes she took a small bow, her lips moving as she muttered a small prayer. "Thank you very much for the food." she said gratefully.
She took a spoonful of the soup and slipped it into her mouth. Her eyes widened, not only due of the searing heat in her mouth, but also because it tasted--well, pretty damn good! "Did you make this yourself, High Priestess? It tastes incredible!" she exclaimed, taking in three more spoonfuls in quick succession. She wasn't one to give compliments so freely, but ironically food was one of the few exceptions.

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. "No, I didn't. I don't cook any of the meals here. It's one of the acolyte's duties..." she smiled warmly at a private joke "Which is probably best, or I'd have to contend with false alarms concerning poisoning every other day."
She allowed Coline to take a few more large gulps of the soup before continuing. "I must admit that I didn't remember your name when Jessie first brought you back to the Temple. But I know you. You held the title of Pastor of the Tenderly Stroked Trident during the war, didn't you? I remember all the good deeds you did for our cause. I also remember how concerned you were with throwing yourself into your own advancement."
The Priestess shifted a little bit closer, lowering her voice. "I understand your ambition. However, I think you should realise that at the end of the day you're only hurting yourself if you continue as you have been. You arrived late and bedraggled... did you even sleep a full night before you fainted?"
Her face dissolved into a very rare frown. "And if you think you need to impress someone - the Overseer or the Captain - exhausting yourself is not the way to go about it. I can promise you that I am decidedly unimpressed with your carelessness, and you caused the Captain a lot of unnecessary worry and a... perhaps not completely unnecessary scolding. I believe you really shocked him, Coline. You shocked all of us."
...I have the receipts to prove it.

Coline laughed softly at the mention of her title. Pastor of the Tenderly Stroked Trident. Hearing it again brought back so many memories of the war; both happy... and sad.
Her shoulders sunk upon hearing what the priestess had to say. Although she did find a sort of guilty pleasure in the thought that the Captain had been worried about her. Still, the priestess' words to pierced at her core. She couldn't deny there was some degree of truth to what she said.
"It's not that I'm doing it for attention. It's just that..." she trailed off, gripping at the sheets as her brows furrowed. But her stance soon relaxed. She smiled, turning to the priestess yet again. "I'm sorry for having worried you, High Priestess. I will keep your words in my thoughts." After setting the bowl back upon its tray, Coline shifted her legs so that they now rested on the floor. "I should be heading back to the Training Grounds, however. Five days of rest have done my wonders to my body and spirit, but it has taken a toll on my training."
((Sorry this took so long. D: ))

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. "Hold on now!" Lorika cried, jumping to her feet and reaching out to put her hands on Coline's shoulders, keeping her sitting down. "I'm not about to let you waltz out of here unless... you at least promise me you'll try not to exert yourself too much. And if you begin feeling tired like you were before, you'll come back to see me again."
She sighed. "I know you're a capable girl, Coline. I just don't want to see you back in this bed for the sole reason that you expect too much of yourself." ...I have the receipts to prove it.

Coline remained still for a few moments, her gaze cast downwards. "I promise..." she muttered under her breath. Placing a hand over Lorika's, she raised her head and nodded in assurance. "I promise to come back and see you, High Priestess. You needn't worry about me."

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. "Well..." Lorika replied, pulling back. "I trust you. Please... do come back if you feel unwell."
Prayer beads jangling, she turned to pick up the tray before giving Coline an encouraging smile. "If I were you, I wouldn't be too worried about my training. Apparently you're quite well advanced. But if you'll excuse me... I'm going to wash up and then take a walk down to the rock pools."
She turned to go, but then turned back. "Oh! Is there anything else you need?" ...I have the receipts to prove it.

Coline can NEED Lori!Jess? ;u;
"Y... You are too kind." she answered, an awkward grin adorning her features. Coline had never been good at dealing with compliments as she did her best not to let them get to her head.
She relaxed her stance upon seeing the kind priestess turn her heel, only to straighten herself again as she turned back. "Anything I need...?" she repeated softly. "You've already done so much for me, I couldn't possibly ask for anything more. But perhaps... give my regards to the acolyte for the tasteful meal?" Placing her hands on her lap, Coline took a deep bow. "Once again, I thank you for your hospitality."

(( >w> maybe we could sneak in a LITTLE training.... BUT NOT MUCH jhsfds shhh, for I am a ninja imposter! )) Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. Lorika beamed down at Coline. "You have no reason to thank me. No reason at all."
She moved into the doorway, shifting the tray to her side again in order to take the doorknob in her hand. "Feel free to leave whenever it suits you."
With that, she left, gently shutting the heavy wooden door behind her.

Coline slowly rose her head as the door shut close, hands gripped firmly upon her lap. The High Priestess had placed so much faith in her that the mere thought of breaking her promise conjured so much guilt. The thought of idling while there was so much training that could be done didn't sit too well with her either.
Although should she choose to exert herself like she'd done before, technically, she wouldn't be breaking her promise. Not exactly.
Slipping into her shoes she sighed and stood up, making the bed that had served as her comfort for the past five days before heading out of the room. She had never been to this area of the Temple before but she had managed to make her way to recognizable territory eventually.
It was when she stepped out of the Temple that Coline realized she had been missing something very important--her trident. She never recalled ever seeing it anywhere inside the Temple; weapons might have been prohibited in Temple grounds, she wasn't sure. Her next bet would be the Training Grounds. But having left it there unattended for five whole days, she couldn't expect it to be at the same spot.
Unless the Captain held onto it for her all this time. Double whammy.
Fresh and renewed, Coline took off in a sprint, shuffling her worries in her head all the while.
((I dunno, I'm afraid Real!Jess might get mad. D; Dammit, Lorika, why did you have to write so sexay? Whyyyy? ;A; ))
